The game’s official PC System Requirements have finally been revealed by EA! You will need quote a powerful machine in order to run the game in its recommended settings.
More info on all of this below. Let’s start!
What is DLSS?
While it’s not 100% clear what DLSS (Deep Learninig Super Sample) does, here is Nvidia’s official explanation about it:
Distracting jagged lines on the edges of objects in a scene, or aliasing, is a common artifact in real-time computer graphics. A common way to remove the jagged lines is to increase the number of pixels, or samples, on the line which helps to smooth it. Increasing the resolution of the entire image is not always practical, so many techniques have been developed which intelligently blend the colors of the jagged edges with the colors of nearby pixels but most of these often remove fine detail.
NVIDIA researchers have successfully trained a neural network to find these jagged edges and perform high-quality anti-aliasing by determining the best color for each pixel, and then apply proper colors to create smoother edges and improve image quality. This technique is known as Deep Learning Super Sample (DLSS). DLSS is like an “Ultra AA” mode – it provides the highest quality anti-aliasing with fewer artifacts than other types of anti-aliasing.
The trailer showcases a few very beautiful locations in the game. It also includes some gameplay elements such as flying and combat. The clip made it clear that both BioWare and Nvidia are proud of the beauty of Anthem. The environment, the creatures, the combat, even the sound – all are absolutely stunning. Some of this will, obviously, come at a steep price. It is expected that most machines and hardware will be able to be fine-tuned for a proper balance between quality and performance. DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine has proven multiple times how good it can be if the right developer hands.

Details on the Anthem’s VIP and Public Demos
Anthem releases on February 22nd. If you want to play the game earlier, you will have the chance to do that via the VIP and Standard Demos. The VIP one will be available January 25-27 and will only be accessible if you have an active EA Origin Access or have pre-ordered Anthem. The same demo will be available for all players on February 1-3.
For participating in the VIP Demo you will get an exclusive in-game reward that will be available in the final game after it releases. The regular Public Demo has no requirements, you can simply download the client and enjoy the game.
The VIP and Public Demo will not allow you to play freely, of course. In fact they will not represent the final product as a few minor changes will be made before the final release. In both demos you will start at level 10 and will be able to level up to 15. These Demos will offer specifically tailored experience to show you some of the features of Anthem, but not all. You progress will not be saved for when the game launches. In the Demo you will be able to play several different kinds of missions and check out various places and systems.
You can also play the official game earlier than its official launch. If you have an active Origin membership, you will be able to log in and start your adventure in Anthem on February 15 – a whole week earlier.

Anthem is a big and scary step for BioWare into a brand new IP. The company is best known for their single-player games such as the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series as well as the Knights of the Old Republic RPG. With Anthem the studio risks a lot by introducing multiplayer as a core gameplay feature. Anthem will be playable solo, of course, but the emphasis here is on team-play and proper coordination between players.
In Anthem you take the role of a Freelancer. Your job is to pilot a special exosuit called Javelin and protect the human settlement from the wild and mystical dangers.
