Spiderman: Far From Home official teaser poster

Spiderman: Far From Home is a Trip

Spiderman: Far From Home has dropped its first teaser trailer and it didn’t disappoint. We got a good impression of what the movie will be about.

Mysterio makes his foggy entrance

We see Mysterio at the very end but what an entrance! I wasn’t sure what to expect. I always thought that it would be the most difficult Spiderman villain to translate from the comics to the big screen. His main “power” is creating illusions. But with CGI nowadays, it just looked amazing.

Mysterio was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and makes his first appearance in Amazing Spiderman 13 back in 1964.

The most well known version of Mysterio is Quentin Beck. But several people have taken up the mantle on different occassions.

The Mysterio in Spiderman: Far From Home however is a bit of an anti hero, when you think about the comments of Jake Gyllenhaal. He said that Mysterio and Spiderman will team up to take down the elementals.

The Elementals’ furious entrance

I was taken by surprise when I read that Spiderman and Mysterio would take on The Elementals so imagine when I read that Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 will actually have The Elementals show up in more than one movie and that they will play a role in the MCU beyond Spiderman. Considering Phase 4 will revolve in space too, I wonder how the Elementals will be featured in future movies.

Spiderman: Far From Home, Elementals

Aunt May knows Peter is Spiderman?

The biggest surprise isn’t that Spidey will team up with Mysterio nor is it the fact that The Elementals will play a large role in both Spiderman: Far From Home and beyond. No, to me it is the fact that Aunt May knows that Peter Parker is Spiderman.

I am pleasantly surprised that Aunt May knows. I find it so Golden Age that the supporting characters don’t know about the exciting double life the hero leads. And don’t get me wrong: I love the Golden Age of comics and I have read my fair share. But at some point, the concept is completely milked and you need to come up with something else. And having Aunt May know and support Peter sure creates an interesting dynamic between the two. I hope that storyline will be reminiscent of the Joseph Michael Straczynski run the Spiderman comics. And maybe a little whiff of The Ultimate Spiderman run by Brian Michael Bendis.

Happy and May Parker flirting gave the trailer that human touch, I found. And I wonder if the two will get together.

Peter and MJ also seem to be able to find each other while on vacations.  So, is this the Peter and MJ love relationship we are waiting for? I totally hope so.

Nick Fury strikes from the shadows

Nick Fury knows how to make an entrance as well. He shoots Ned with a tranq dart and starts talking to Spiderman. He knows Peter is Spiderman but what else do expect from the Ultimate Spy who’s secrets got secrets?

From that point on, we can only wonder what the story will be. I totally loved the homages of the Spiderman suits. Spiderman Noir suit especially and I hope they will give us the Scarlet Spider suit and House of M Spiderman suit

Avengers Endgame consequences

Spiderman: Far From Home will take place AFTER Avengers: Endgame. That much we know.  And so far we have seen Spiderman, Nick Fury and Maria Hill too.

The one who did survive and played a large in Spiderman: Homecoming and he is very noticeably absent from the trailer.  Which led to speculation by fans whether or not Iron Man survived after Avengers:  Endgame.

Well, my take on that is that, just because you don’t see him doesn’t mean he isnt alive. And it is only just the first trailer, so hold your horses there people! More to come!

What do you think of the new Spiderman: Far from home trailer?  Are you curious about The Elementals? Or do you wish to see more illusions by Mysterio?  And how about the Endgame survivors. It feels a bit like we got spoiled by that part huh? Anyhow, let me know in the comments!
