ANTHEM Update 1.0.4.02 Overview and Upcoming Big Content Update

On April 8th BioWare is releasing a small hotfix to deal with a few bugs in Anthem, such as the components for other javelins dropping more often than they should, the Nvidia Highlights crashing, Apex creatures spawning rules and more.

Today, following a three hours long maintenance the Anthem live servers are receiving a new client-side update. Patch 1.0.4.02 has to be downloaded when you launch your game in order for you to continue playing the game.

The update becomes available at the same time for all three platforms – PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Its size is about 1 GB.

The main highlight of 1.0.4.02 is the fix for the “wrong components” loot. Before the update you may have noticed that quite often you would get a Masterwork or Legendary components that belong to a different Javelin class than the one you are currently playing. This is intended, but the rate at which the “wrong components” used to drop was bugged. Today’s patch should fix this.

Another cool fix is related to the Apex creatures. While you are fighting an Ursix, Titan, Fury or Luminari and another player nearby starts an event, these creatures used to disappear as per the game’s mechanics. This rule will no longer apply to the aforementioned creatures, but will still continue to be valid for the regular spawns near events.

Ursix and Titans will also now spawn more often in Freeplay. As you know, they have an increased chance to drop high tier loot and lately it has been lonely without them in Bastion. A bug was preventing them from spawning more often. I personally have not seen an Ursix in Freeplay in weeks.

These may be the highlights of today’s update, but if you want to be punctual, take a look at the official patch notes from BioWare listed below.

  • Fixed an issue that was causing loot to drop for javelins other than the one being used.
  • Addressed a number of issues that could occasionally cause Nvidia highlights to crash.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Elysian Cache items to not appear until completing another activity or restarting the game.
  • The newsfeed will now properly show content again upon launching into the game.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Ursix and Titans to not spawn as frequently in Freeplay.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause the screen to shake when enabling DLSS and turning off motion blur.
  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause players not to be able to interact with Owen, or hear his audio at the end of the Legendary version of the mission “Finding Old Friends”.
  • Titans, Ursix, Luminaries and Fury enemies should no longer disappear when another player starts an Event in Freeplay.

The maintenance is scheduled to run from 14 to 17 UTC on April 8th. The update can be downloaded sooner or at any time after the servers go back up online.

Anthem-Act-I-Roadmap---April-2019

On a separate note, Jesse Anderson, one of the community managers for Anthem at BioWare, announced on Twitter that there will be a large content update later in April. In another message he clarified that it is more likely for us to see this next patch near the end of the month.

The 90-days roadmap suggest that April will bring us Update. Act I continues with an expanded progression system, which will likely introduce the pilot levels, which were unknowingly why removed from the game after being previewed and talked about in a dev live stream a few months ago.

The second part of the Legendary Missions is also coming with the April Content Update, so is the new Stronghold called “The Sunken Cell” (and it better be filled with Outlaws!!!). The Guild functionality and Leaderboards feature should also be released, but so far we have heard nothing about it. A few new Freeplay events have also been announced. The sad news is that more likely than not is that these new events will not be truly new events in Bastion, but follow the formula of the already seen ones, such as the Outlaw’s and Dominion’s invasions.

How does that sound for one month’s worth of content? If BioWare delivers all of it in April, it will surely look like a great second month since the game’s official launch at the end of February 2019.
