Marvel reveals PHASE 4 at San Diego Comic Con

Marvel revealed Phase 4 of their impressive cinematic universe at the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC). Marvel showed all of the cast, logos and movie titles at the SDCC this weekend with a big show. Phase 4 will have even more diversity in the next phase.

Black Widow

Phase 4 will kick off in 2020 and the current date for release is set to May 4th. Scarlett Johanssen takes on the title role. Plot details have been kept a secret but pundits think the movie will be a prequel about the time before Natasha Romanov became an Avenger. Her death in Avengers: Endgame is one of the main reasons to believe that Black Widow will be a prequel.

The Eternals

Angelina Jolie was cast in the Marvel movie called The Eternals. The Eternals find their origins in 1976 and were created by comicbook legend Jack Kirby. Jack Kirby is responsible for designing and co-creating The Fantastic Four , The X-men and many more. The Eternals are superpowered human beings who were created by The Celestials and have several powers at their disposal including but not limited to flight, superhuman strength and mindreading.

Next to Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani and Salma Hayek are cast in the movie that is set to be released in November, 2020. Personally, this looks like the most interesting movie to me. Especially since I hope we will see more of the Celestials in it. The Celestials were mentioned in The Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 1&2 when the Guardians visit Knowhere.

Jolie pledged that she will work ten times harder for this movie than all of her previous action movies saying she owes it to the fans.

Natalie Portman returns to Marvel as Jane Foster with a twist

Natalie Portman will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that makes me very happy.  She is a great actress and I hope that she will be put to good use. In previous Thor movies I wasn’t really convinced but I know she is a great actress and with the right script and director we should see way more of her superior acting skills. The twist is that, yes she will be back as Jane but she will play Lady Thor. The most recent run of Jane Foster as Thor was very well written and I hope that the movie will draw inspiration of those comics. It is definitely worthwhile.

Blade

Many fans speculated about a return of the half vampire / half man Blade. And a lot of fans speculated that original actor Wesley Snipes would return to the role. Instead we get Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, who came in, said nothing and put on Blade cap. And the crowd went wild. I loved the original Blade movies with Snipes but wow, Mahershala Ali as Blade. He is one of the best actors of his generation so yah…bring it on!

More Marvel movies incoming…

Head honcho Kevin Feige confirmed sequels of Black Panther, Captain Marvel and announced The Fantastic Four (finally!!).  More announcements included Wanda & Vision and Loki for Disney’s soon to be launched streamingservice called Disney+.

So fear not Marvelites, plenty of stuff on the horizon! What do you think of the announcement? Are you excited? Happy? Let us know in the comments!
