ANTHEM Cataclysm: All New Gear, Support Items and Weapons

Vulkk by Vulkk|

So, BioWare decided to rotate the new Masterwork 66 and Legendary 80 Items on the Seasonal store. That was no surprise, given the fact that this was announced when PTS first opened. But, are you familiar with what is available and when did it appear or how to get it? This article will show you full lists of all new Melee Items, Gear Items, Support Items and Weapons that have been released with the Cataclysm, when did they appear and how you can get them for your own Javelin(s)!

Anthem’s patch 1.3.0 arrived in the beginning of August. The so called “Cataclysm update” brought the new game mode, several new events in Freeplay and a ton of new cosmetics for your javelins. All of these you can earn in-game by playing and defeating enemies and encounters, without spending a dollar. The Vanity Store still gets refreshes twice a week, of course.

Here and now I will focus your attention on the new items that you can get from the Cataclysm. Yes, all new Melee Items, Gear items, Support Items and Ranged Weapons that have been released with 1.3.0, are only obtainable through the new game mode – The Cataclysm.

If you have not yet tried it, the Complete Cataclysm Guide should be your first stop, unless you prefer to dive in blindly and explore on your own. If you choose the latter, please, respect the other players and don’t directly jump into GM2 or GM3 to ruin their experience. Learn the map and its objectives, secrets and tactics, then start participating. The Cataclysm is a very new experience and is quite different than what most Looter Shooter fans are used to.

Now, back to the main topic – the new stuff! All of the new Masterwork Power Level 66 and Legendary Power Level 80 items are currently exclusively available via War Chests.

Each week the Daily Cataclysm Challenges change their rewards to grant you a different War Chest if you complete three events inside the Cataclysm. The contents are also javelin specific in these!

The other option to get War Chests is at the Seasonal Store – to trade them for your hard-earned Crystals.  Crystals, on the other end, are rewarded mostly from the Cataclysm runs and in very small quantities for completing other missions, dailies, challenges and in Freeplay. Reminder: The Seasonal Store’s War Chests contents are not specific to your javelin. The RNG here is huge as the chests can yield any item for any javelin, unlike the ones from the Daily Challenges.

The new items are split into four categories and their availability rotates each week on the Seasonal Store – Melee Weapons, Gear Items, Support Items and Ranged Weapons

Each War Chest always contains one Masterwork item of the specified type. Its Power Level is 66. There is a small chance for a Legendary item to drop from that chest instead. It will be of a Power Level 80.

The chance for a Legendary to drop is not confirmed, but my personal tests show a variable between 6 and 8%. I have opened hundreds of War Chests, but have not bothered with real and completed statistics, so take this with a healthy dose of doubt.

Now, the best part – I will show you each one of the new items. Some of them will be in Masterwork version, others in Legendary. Keep in mind that the name and static perks of the items are identical. The difference comes from the Inscriptions and the damage (if the item deals it).

ALL NEW ANTHEM CATACLYSM MELEE ITEMS

For each Javelin type there are two new melee items – one is a Primer and the other one is a Detonator. They each have different perks, though!

Melee Weapons War Chests were available in the first and second week of the Cataclysm and are still available in Week 3. The Cataclysm is a six-weeks long event with no confirmed information of what will happen after that. These are javelin specific and there are two for each class.

  • Transmulting Volt (Primer, Electricity)

ALL NEW ANTHEM CATACLYSM RANGED WEAPONS

Ranged Weapons War Chests – nine new weapons, available to all javelins. The new weapons are projectile type of weapons and will reward certain types of builds, while possibly not fitting into others at all. The Ranged weapons have not yet appeared in the Seasonal Store (or in the game at all) at the time of this publication. They are expected to become available when Week 4 of the Cataclysm begins, which should be on August 27.

The new Weapons have their own Inscriptions pools. Some new Inscriptions specific to these weapons and some general ones like Armor buffs.

Pulse Accelerators

These use seal technology to generate destructive energy.

    • “Bad Omen” – Charges to fire a burst of energy projectiles.
    • “Rain Maker” – Fires an energy burst that explodes into smaller projectiles.
    • “Grave Digger” – Fires an increasingly powerful stream of energy.

Volt Casters

These use seal technology to focus ambient electricity

    • “Jarra’s Wrath” – Blasts a short-range lightning arc.
    • “Lightning Rod” – Calls down lightning on a specific location.
    • “Flashfire” – Fires a lightning attack that jumps from enemy to enemy.

Blade Slingers

These charge a circular projectile with dynamic force.

    • “Razorwing” – Launches a heavy blade that bounces between targets.
    • “Riza’s Ripper” – Fires a barbed blade that inflicts ongoing shrapnel damage.
    • “Shard Storm” – Launches experimental crystal projectiles across the immediate area.

Please, note, that the images below are from Anthem’s Public Test Server. They should not differ from the live version, because BioWare have said nothing on that topic to give us a reason to believe any chances are to be expected, but the studio has not been exactly the most vocal in the past few months.
