Assassin's Creed Odyssey Update Patch Notes

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Gets its Final Update

Vulkk by Vulkk|

Can you believe it has been one year since Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? This may not have been a typical traditional AC title, but it sure was a huge success according to the players (me included). The few controversies, in-game bugs and issues did not prevent me from enjoying the base game along with its expansions and free mission DLCs. Ubisoft kept up regularly updated, added a ton of surprises and new features into the mix post-launch that I almost feel bad because this is likely my last post about the game. October will welcome the final hotfix patch to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but that’s only a small part of all things coming to the game this month! Let’s take a closer look!

A FREE MOUNT FOR ALL PLAYERS

Most of the contents of the October Update are related to the 1-year anniversary and the first one is a FREE MOUNT! The creature is expected later this month and will be available in the game’s Store. Most likely with the release of Update 1.5.1. This final update will be just bug fixes and will arrive some time in October.

The new skin is named after the playful nymph Melaina. As can be seen from the image above, the mount will make every effort possible to make you look like a God. It will not “turn any misthios into a flamboyant hero” in the most literal sense, despite of what Ubisoft wants us to believe, heh.

To get this creature all you need is the base game of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

THE 1-YEAR COMMUNITY ACHIEVEMENTS

AC Odyssey is not the typical AC game, that is clear from the very beginning. Its first year anniversary is also spectacular. Despite the regular hate Ubisoft receives for certain decisions and screw-ups here and there, I think they deserve our applause for what the AC team did with Odyssey.

Even if you did not clap as you read the previous sentence, the following stats will prove the game’s success. Over 20 billion (with a B) enemies defeated sand sent “down to Hades”. More than 645 million hours of playtime on all platforms combined. Nearly 50 million photos taken.

That last one… I am only responsible for only a tiny percentage, despite the fact that I have taken a hell of a lot of photos for various guides and articles here on VULKK.com.

When it comes to the choices, things get interesting! Here’s how we have reacted when given a difficult choice to make with our Kassandra or Alexios.

  • Friendly (68%) vs. Aggressive (32%)
  • Lies (34%) vs. Truth (66%)
  • God (57%) vs. Human (43%)
  • When offered, players chose to flirt 71.5% of the time

I myself choose mostly the friendly options, I remained truthful almost all of the time and I did not present myself as a God. I also passed on most flirt options, so I am with the minority of players on this one. What choices did you make?

While I personally did not spend additional time exploring Greece from the eyes of Ikaros (outside the required amount of scouting terrain and fortresses), the numbers are impressive here too! Ancient Greece has been seen from Ikaros’ eyes over 1,25 million times, says Ubisoft.

Assassin's Creed 1-year Anniversary Special Event

There is an extra reason to hunt and defeat these Epic Enemies! More Orichalcum! Ubisoft is significantly increasing the amount you earn  during this October event. Each day, defeating an Epic Mercenary or an Epic Ship will give 15 Orichalcum, giving you a total of 105 instead of the usual 40 per week.

A FEW FINAL THOUGHTS FROM VULKK

Ubisoft is proud to have produced such a game and I am happy I got the Gold Edition along with all of the paid DLCs and free content added to the game. The Discovery Tour, Lost Tales of Greece and New Game + are more than enough for over 100 hours spent in the game easily without even completing half of the side quests. This may have been a “60 dollars game”, but it far surpassed the standard “60 hours game time”, which some sites are trying to pass for modern RPG standards nowadays.

Granted, I have been quiet on the AC Odyssey front for a few months. This is not because the game died out or the devs stopped releasing updates. I took a break from it for a bit and focused on the other two main titles I play and cover – SWTOR and Anthem.

This month I came back to finish what I had left waiting for me. To be honest, it was the Discovery Tour feature that was of most interest when I decided to update the game and get back into it.

The moment I started the game, however, I decided that there are too many fantastic missions and stories in Ancient Greece that I left unfinished, so I went back to do that first before I sit down to enjoy the real-story and legends of the Discovery Tour tool, which released about a month ago.

Now, enough of my personal ramblings. I know you prefer that I focus on the October update, because that’s what the title says and you clicked here for it!

I have written a ton of news articles covering the game’s announcements, updates and changes in this past year, but my most treasured content (and most used by you) are the AC Odyssey Guides. As Ubisoft thanks their players, I would like to thank you, my readers, for enjoying my Odyssey content. I am looking forward to the next title in the series and you can be sure that I will cover it in even more depth than this one.

My final question to you – did you enjoy Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? If you never got it, why not? It’s quite cheap now and offers
