BioWare released the Season of Skulls event with Update 1.5.0 on October 16 2019/ Along with it came a unique scavenger hunt. There are ten locations in Fort Tarsis, which give you notes with clues for places in Bastion’s Freeplay, which you can visit and learn more of Anthem’s rich and still widely unexplored lore. This guide will help you find the ten skulls in the Fort and then show you the described locations in Bastion, so you can easily get your sweet and special reward – a great-looking Javelin Hood decoration!
LOST IN DARKNESS – SKULL LOCATIONS IN FORT TARSIS
The ten locations with glowing skulls spread all over Fort Tarsis are not hard to find. There is no difference which one you will find first and in which order you click on them. You can click on each one as many times as you wish.
The hints from these skulls are recorded permanently in your Cortex. Simply go to Cortex – Library – Miscellaneous – Notes and scroll down to find them. They are also available in the “Recent Entries”, but only the last 9 Cortex entries are listed there, so it’s useful to know where to find these Season of Skull event notes.
I suggest you to start with the Unsigned note, because it serves as an introduction to this scavenging hunt event in Anthem.
UNSIGNED NOTE
The starter point is right at the spawn location – where you load in when you start up the game. The note is right next to you on the desk.
I WAIT
I Wait is located north from your log-in location in the Fort. The note is in the end of the right corridor with the cypher chairs.
COME AND SEE
This one sits on top of a folded rug at the entrance to the Arcanist’s building, where Matti and his brothers are.
STANDING GUARD
This one is in the dark alley past the Arcanist building leading to the bar. The skull is on top of a container near the table with the radio.
FOR HONOR
The next glowing skull with a hint is at the very back of the bar. It sits comfortably on a sofa just next to one of the regular customers.
STILL WATCHING
This one is located on the floor, at the top of the stairs in the courtyard’s most western area. The skull is right next to an empty wooden bucket at the bottom of the metal construction.
LOST IN DARKNESS
In the southern alley of the courtyard, resting on top of a small metal ladder among a pile of containers and other junk, you will find the next skull.
IN THE EYE
In the Eye is in the corner of the caffe between the southern staircase and the eastern door of the Fort’s courtyard.
FIND ME
This one is near the Seasonal Store. In fact it’s right on the wall against the store. You will find the skull on the middle shelf of a metal construction just next to a piece of red cloth.
ON THE HEIGHTS
To get to this one, take the southern stairs behind the garage in the fort. The skull is on the ground on the second floor.
WE WAIT
The final note in the fort is again on the east end of the garage, but this time it’s on the ground floor, resting at the bottom of the stairs on the north side of the forge.

LOST IN DARKNESS – MEMORIALS LOCATIONS IN BASTION
The second part of the Lost in Darkness challenge, part of the Season of Skulls event in Anthem takes you out in Freeplay and demands that you do some Bastion exploration. It’s fun, I promise.
You can set the difficulty to a lower tier if you do not want to be bothered by random spawns or events near the locations. The memorials’ locations are not too hard to find and don’t have any special requirements for you to complete to unlock or spawn them. They are there and all you need is to know where to go to find them and click on them to learn the piece of lore and mark it as visited for the Challenge.
The order in which you visit the locations and click on the items does not matter. I have placed them below in an order that will allow you to collect them all with one full circle over Bastion.
LOST IN DARKNESS
As you load into Freeplay, head north into the Academy Ruins. The shrine is inside a cave in the rocky formations there, just west from The Last Sentinel landmark. The entrance is on the east side of the mountain.
IN THE EYE
Next one is in the northern area of the Valley of Tarsis. The memorial is north from Howel’s Tower landmark. It’s a bit high up in the mountain, on its eastern side.
ON THE HEIGHTS
On the Heights is to the far south of the Valley of Tarsis. Right about in the middle between The Antium Lock and The Faithful landmarks. The shrine sits on a green hill behind the giant stone statue.
STANDING GUARD
For the Standing Guard you can teleport to the East Gate Strider. The location of the objective is north from it and a little to the west from The Mining Platform landmark, right in the middle of the East Gate zone. You will find the shrine on the green cliff overlooking the valley to the north.
I WAIT
I wait is in the Great Falls Canyon. As the note’s description says – the location is right in the shadow of the Eddian Tree – on the northern side, on the ground.
COME AND SEE
Next, head up to the recently destroyed by the giant Shaper centipede Sanctuary Ruins in Emerald Abyss. The memorial is west from the ruins, right in front of the big steel door.
FIND ME
Find Me is easy to find. Fly to The Monument landmark in Monument Watch zone. The objective is on top of the metal construct on its northern side.
FOR HONOR
For this one you have to go to the Ruins of Shadowmark. In the eastern end of the zone, on top of a ruin you will find your item (The Wrecked Gazebo landmark).
WE WAIT
No need to wait for this one! It’s resting on the rocky on the borderline between Monument Watch and Ruins of Shadowmark, west from The Bane Engine’s entrance. There is a small urgoth statue next to it.
STILL WATCHING
Right in the middle of the Fortress of Dawn zone is the tenth and final shrine. The Still Watching memorial is inside one of the towers on the outer wall of the fortress. It can be hard to spot if you are not close to it. It’s very likely that you will find an active spawn of enemies or an event in this area, so be careful.
ALL BASTION LOCATIONS ON ONE MAP
This is a clear map with all ten locations marked. The exact location of each item is at the tip of the red pin.
LOST IN DARKNESS CHALLENGE – THE REWARDS
After you successfully complete all of the objectives described in this guide, you will complete the Lost in Darkness Challenge. The reward is quite sweet and unique! You get four different hoods – one for each one of the four currently available javelin exosuits.
Once completed, this challenge can be found in the following subcategory in your Cortex: Challenges – Exploration – Completed Challenges.
The hoods take the slot of a helmet for the Ranger, Storm and Interceptor. On the Colossus, because the big boy has no helmet slot, the hood takes the Torso slot.
I hope you have found my Lost in Darkness Secret Challenge Guide useful, Freelancers! Enjoy your game and don’t forget to share this guide with anybody, who you think might benefit from it. Thanks!
