Star Wars TV shows, The Avengers , a new TV show called Evil and The Big Bang Theory ending. These are just some of the things that I am thankful for and would count them as the best TV Shows and Movies in 2019. And I hope you are too!
Avengers: Endgame
Avengers: Endgame gets THE biggest thank you from all the movies and TV shows that I have watched this year. Infinity War ended with a cliffhanger and I just had to watch that. I mean who didn’t want to know what happened to our heroes who died and the ones who lived.
After watching the trailer with Captain America saying “Some people move on, but not us” with a very combative tone, I was even more hyped.
The movie not only lived up to my expectations but far exceeded it. My favorite scenes are the ones with Thor dealing with his depression after not going for the head in Infinity War.
The second best one was “I am Iron Man”, the man who started the Marvel Cinematic Universe also ended the fight after 22 movies.
And my third favorite scene was Captain America picking up Mjolnir and the fight that followed. Thanos gets some ass kicking from the Captain. I can’t blame the guy to want to try and live a little with the love of his life, Peggy Carter. It gave me some good closure!
The Avengers ranks number 1 on my list of Best TV Shows and Movies in 2019.
Evil
When I read the synopsis of the new TV show Evil, I was like “oh geez, another priest combined with a psychologist and a skeptic? We have seen t his before, like a dozen times.” But I decided to give the TV show a shot anyway. With Mike Colter of Luke Cage fame and fellow Dutchy, Katja Herbers, I just wanted to see what the show was about.
And I don’t regret it for one moment.
The show really is about that priest (in training) and the psychologist and thet skeptic. It is just that they deal with freaky things that makes The Omen a walk in the park. Or Pet Semetary look like Pet Semetary 2. It deals with demonic possession, excorcism and ouija boards in a virtual VR world.
I have watched all the episodes of Evil so far and I have to say that it is well worth watching.
Evil ranks 2nd on my Best TV Shows and Movies in 2019!
Crisis on Infinite Earths
Crisis on Infinite Earths that takes place in the Arrowverse is THE biggest crossover in television history. The ambitious project seems to be 10 years in the making with Arrowverse TV shows dropping hints here and there and keeping viewers curious, speculating and as always theorizing about what will happen during the crisis.
I have been hyped for this crossover since the announcement last year. While I am sad to say goodbye to Arrow, I am seriously curious what the Arrowverse 2.0 will look like without Oliver Queen at the helm.
Crisis on Infinite Earths has yet to air but I can already tell you that I will rank it third on The Best TV shows and movies in 2019.
The Mandalorian and baby Yoda
When George Lucas announced a Star Wars TV show many many moons ago and that idea never came to fruition, I was disappointed. Then Lucas sold to Disney and I was even more disappointed after the first few Star Wars movies. So when The Mandalorian was announced you can imagine that I wasn’t so enthused about the whole idea of Disney ruining my Star Wars franchise. I was so wrong!
The Mandalorian is a great show that shows the Star Wars Universe from a different point of view other than of the Jedi or a Sith. I have watched the movies, read the comics and played the videogames. Ofcourse it is great to play with a lightsaber, cutting up your enemies but if it were up to me we get to see a game where you can play as The Mandalorian soon.
The best thing about the show is ofcourse Baby Yoda…with memes coming out of the woodwork saying that “save the franchise, I must” you know you got yourself a winner!
While I am very impressed with the show, I would like to see it in its’ entirety. So for now it is 4th on The Best TV shows and movies in 2019.
The Big Bang Theory closure
One of the best comedy shows of the past two decades came to an end in May, 2019. The adventures of Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, Howard and their spouses are no longer. I can imagine that after 12 years of playing Sheldon, actor Jim Parsons has had enough and wants to expand his horizons rather than being stuck playing the characters for two more seasons.
I can only say thanks for the past 12 years and I hope that there some day will be a reunion episode. Which is quite possible given the ending of the show.
I will definitely miss The Big Bang Theory and while the show has ended, I think it deserves 5th place on my list of The Best TV Shows and Movies in 2019.
