Today I am happy to announce that due to popular demand the dark interface and theme of VULKK.com is about to go away and be replaced by the very classic white design!
This is still work in progress, so please, be patient, not all elements are finished!
I have a screenshot preview for you below, but let me first tell you a bit about my plans.
VULKK.com has been using a dark theme for all (almost) five years since I launched it. I’ve made some changes over the years including speed performance upgrades and design tweaks, but one thing has always remained – the dark background.
Today I am proud to show you the new work-in-progress visual of the site. Here’s a short list of some of the most important changes you will notice once the theme transition is complete:
- The Dark Theme has been replaced with classic plain white background and black letters.
- The heading (titles and sub-titles) are not more of a sith-red rather than the gold-orange-ish one I used since launch.
- The menu is no more. I no longer follow the rule “user experience is king”. Screw that menu. it was on every page and offered quick links to things, instead of making people dig and dive.
- The ad units are random. I just happen to watch a lot of Star Wars Clone Wars and The Simpsons lately, while “working from home”.
- The header banner is to be updated with one that matches the new bright light design, it just isn’t quite ready yet.
And now, check out all of this in an exclusive preview image below:
The preview is based on an actual live article on the site. This is my Tomb of Kujet Guide for Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order.
I believe this is what all of us want from VULKK.com, really. This Dark Design has been getting more and more popularity with around the internet and it’s a bit too much. I believe it’s time we show that. Thank you!
Stay safe and healthy!
Happy April 1st!
Of course, none of the above is true. This post is an obvious joke. While I don’t want to say “never”, I can safely say it is highly unlikely that I would change my site’s theme to a white background. I have been using dark themes for almost everything on the internet way before it became “the cool thing everyone wants to do”. I am very proud of that fact too :]
In fact, I am working on a new site design that will be ready (perhaps) some time later this year. It will cost me a lot of money and time, but will be worth it. The change will not be so drastically visual, but it will be a back-end improvement that will stun and surprise even Google’s crazy tools with their demands for light-design and insanely fast mobile pageload speeds.
I hope you are all staying safe and healthy!
