Everything you need to know about the Cyberpunk 2077 Lifepaths, Weapons Types and how to get them, BTS of voicing Samurai and more from CD Projekt Red’s Night City Wired exclusive reveals!

The Cyberpunk 2077 Lifepaths

The first segment of Night City Wired Episode 2 began with a reveal of the three origin lifepaths you choose when you begin a new game.

Being a fully-fleshed out Role-Playing Game, CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 focuses on allowing you, the player, to be in control of your own fate. You can and should make all of the important decisions and lead your own V down the path of your own choosing.

Cyberpunk 2077 will allow you to choose one of three completely unique lifepaths as you start your game: Nomad, Street Kid and Corpo.

Based on the Origin Story Background you pick for your character you will not only see one of the three different openings of the game in terms of story and gameplay, but you will have exclusive dialogue options and choices to make down the line as you progress through the story. But who are these three Vs that you can choose from?

Street Kid Lifepath

You grew up in Heywood area of Night City. You know the streets, you know the dealers and gangs around.

You have no experience with the Corporation world or the Badlands surroundings (the area outside of the city), but you are swimming in your own waters on the streets of Night City!

Nomad Lifepath

Your home is the Badlands. This is the wasteland territory surrounding Night City.

Nomad

Nomads are people, rejected by the city or people, who truly enjoy the lifestyle in the desert areas. Starting the game as an ex Nomad, your task is to find a way to enter Night City and start making your new life there.

Corpo Lifepath

As an ex member of the Orasaka corporation you have a solid background and knowledge of how the Corporations operate in Night City.

This background will allow you to have solid connections and unique paths in missions related to Corporation agents and representatives.

The rules are always the same, though. Today you are tasked to “zero” someone, tomorrow someone might be ordered to “zero” you.

Your Lifepaths will give you unique start in Cyberpunk 2077, but this background will affect your V all the way to the end of the game.

In the first gameplay video we got to see V take on a mission where his objective is to obtain a Robot from a Maestrom gang, who stole it from a Corporation.

The dialogue choices vary quite a lot based on your origin story:

If you choose the Corporate lifepath, you will have insider knowledge and be able to read between the lines in the optional objective that the Maelstrom gang gives you and you meet a Corporate agent

As a Street Kid you have no new dialogue options during that mission, but you do have the background knowledge of the Maelstrom gang and can discuss some additional topics with the NPCs that show you to the robot.

The Badlands is one of Night City’s regions that you will be able to explore. Whether you choose the Nomad background lifepath, you will find one way or another to visit the district (area) later in the game through missions or exploration.

Padre the Fixer

Each district of Night City will have one (or more?) Fixer, who operate in the region. Fixers are NPCs that connect those who need a job with those who offer them.

Fixers are very territorial. Padre works in Heywood, which is the region V grew up in as a Street Kid.

Father Sebastian is the Fixer that V meets with in the beginning of the game as a Street Kid lifepath.

If you didn’t start as a Street Kid you will still encounter Padre and have the opportunity to work with him later. You will visit Heywood at some point anyway.

Padre is the second Fixer we get to officially meet after Dex’s first appearance in the Gameplay Demo from last year.

How Refused brings Johny Silverhand’s Samurai to life

The second segment in the episode took us behind the scenes with a short discussion and interview of members of the band Refused, who gave their voices and talent to bring Samurai to life.

Johny Silverhand

Samurai in Cyberpunk 2077

Samurai is a legendary chrome rock band featured throughout the Cyberpunk Series for whom music was a way to rebel and fight the system. They feature heavily in the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, where they are portrayed by real life punk band Refused.

Samurai is Johny Silverhand’s musical band in Cyberpunk 2077 and Johny, as you probably know already, is played by none other but Keanu Reeves!

Refused and Cyberpunk 2077

Refused is a Swedish hardcore punk band. They recorded several tracks specifically for Cyberpunk 2077 and if you remember Keanu Reeves’ appearance on stage of E3 2019, you will recognize the song “Chippin’ In” immediately.

Refused lead vocals Dennis Lyxzen explained how tough it was at times for a non-gamer like himself to enter the body of an NPC in a video game and perform as if this specific NPC.

There are four songs that you can now listen anywhere on any streaming service. The newest one is “A Like Supreme”, released today! Check it out belo!

The Guns of Cuberpunk 2077

Being a First Person Perspective RPG Cyberpunk 2077 had a unique task of properly introducing the player to the gun gameplay and merging the FPS with the RPG into one!

There’s a huge arsenal of weapons ranging from melee, ranged, offensive and defensive cyberware and so on. All of these split into categories and rarities.

Cyberpunk-2077-Weapons

During the course of the game V changes from a small-time mercenary to a Legend of Night City. With that his/her powers grow accordingly.

V will get a better aiming (accuracy), faster reactions and response timings and overall better skills to deal with the increasing in difficulty enemies.

There are three types of guns in Cyberpunk 2077, based on their behavior, manufacturer and performance.

Power Weapons

These are the closest to today’s conventional weapons that we are familiar with from our real lives.

The one major difference is that Cyberpunk 2077’s Power Guns can have bullets ricochet off walls and other solid objects.

Tech Weapons

Tech Weapons in Cyberpunk 2077 are a type of guns that use electro-magnetic power to propel a fully metal projectile to extreme volocities.

These weapons can penetrate solid objects such as covers or even walls. This way you would be able to hit your target before they even become aware of your presence.

Smart Weapons

This category of weapons in the game have the ability to track targets in real time through guided missile technology.

Smart Weapons

You can use these guns to hit somebody, who is dodging your attacks, running away from you or hiding behind a cover.

Weapon Tiers in Cyberpunk 2077

There are several tiers of weapons starting with Common, going through Uncommon, Rare and all the way up to Legendary.

Each tier gives the weapon more power. Legendary Weapons have a unique bonus added to them that you will not find in any other weapon in the game.

How to get new Weapons in Cyberpunk 2077

The most common way to get weapons is through gameplay, of course. They will drop from enemies you defeat. You will be able to purchase and construct your own weapons from Vendors as well.

Legendary Weapons will be most often found as a drop form an NPC or in Caches spread throughout the world. Most likely in the form or exploration achievements.

To obtain some of the Legendary weapons you will have to make tough choices often related to deciding the fate of an NPC that is known to hold one such gun.

Weapon Modifications

There are two types of Weapon Modifications in Cyberpunk 2077: Physical mods and Software Upgrades.

The Attachments (scopes, silencers and so on) are the physical mods that you can literally attach to your weapon. They increase the gun’s stats and also affect its visual appearance.

The Software upgrades are chips that you install into your guns. They also modify the stats of the weapon you place them in.

In some cases the mods may actually drastically change the way the gun behaves giving it a unique new gunplay.
