Anthem Festive Fruits of the Hunt Challenge Guide

ANTHEM Festive: Fruits of the Hunt Challenge Guide

Vulkk by Vulkk|

This is a quick guide to help you complete the timed challenge that appeared in Anthem on September 22, 2020 – Festive: Fruits of the Hunt!

Today, out of nowhere, a new challenge appeared in Anthem. BioWare is busy working on Anthem 2.0 at the moment and we have not seen any new additions to the game in months. Store refreshes don’t count, because the items are old and on a rotation for a very long time now.

How to get this challenge

The new challenge is called “Festive: Fruits of the Hunt”. You will find it in the Journal. Navigate to the Challenges tab and then click on Festive – Weeklies.

As soon as you log in after the refresh on September 22 2020 the challenge will automatically appear in your Journal. So far I am not aware of any requirements to unlock it. It has appeared for all players I asked so far.

It appears to be a time-limited challenge and as always there is no information if it will return next week or be replaced by another challenge or… disappear forever.

Anthem Challenge - Festive Fruits of the Hunt

The text of Festive: Fruits of the Hunt reads:

“Every year, the people of Bastion send Freelancer hunting parties out to reap the land’s bounty and thin dangerous wildfire populations before darker reasons approach.
Participate in this Festive event by hunting the creatures of Bastion in any game mode”

How to complete the challenge

No doubt the quickest and most efficient way to complete this challenge is to go solo in Freeplay. I cannot confirm at the moment if I encountered a bug, but group kills did not seem to count (not always?).

The task is simple – hunt down and defeat the dangerous creatures listed. You need to kill the following:

  • 50x Wolven
  • 30x Wyverns
  • 15x Tesilars
  • 15x Korox
  • 15x Anrisaurs
  • 3x Ursix

These creatures can be encountered almost anywhere in any of Anthem’s gameplay modes. Below I will list each one with an image to help you remember what each looks like and where to look for them if you are stuck.

The difficulty doesn’t matter for any of Anthem’s challenges. If you are in a hurry you can simply choose Easy and join Freeplay for a nice and quick farm.

Most of the creatures appear literally anywhere on the map as random spawn, but also as part of Events. There are a few locations that are more likely for certain creatures to appear more often. In general if you are patient and go back and forth you will find all of them eventually in the southern region, starting from the Fort Tarsis Strider.

Wolven are usually spawning in the northern sections, where the Dominion rules the lands and spawns are most often of that kind. You can search around the Fortress of Dawn and Ruins of Shadowmark. Small groups of three often spawn in random locations.

Since you need fifty of them, it will be slower to get them all from random small spawns. Don’t be afraid to farm regular group spawn spots and hope for more Wolves to appear if these are the last requirement for the challenge.

Anthem Challenge - Festive Fruits of the Hunt

In my experience Wyverns are most frequently found around the northern parts of Valley of Tarsis, but I wouldn’t advise you to focus only in this sector.

The Monument in Monument Watch, far into the north, is also a spot where you can encounter the flying beasts. Sentinel Support Freeplay events also provide plenty of Wyverns for you to hunt. These events usually also finish up with an Ursix.

Simply look up to the skies often and be sure to have something explosive like a Jarra’s Wrath or Ralner’s Blaze with you. These work very nice against Wyverns.

There are Wyvern right at the beginning of Heart of Rage Stronghold. Be sure to select a difficulty that is not very popular (like Hard for level 30 pilots) to avoid ruining the fun of actual players, who want to do the full run.

Anthem Challenge - Festive Fruits of the Hunt

The annoying Tesilars are half-aggressive. This is my own term and it means that the creatures will only attack you if you go too close to them. They will electrify you if you get close.

They are easy to defeat and I always find lots of them near Fort Tarsis, specifically along its eastern borders, which is the north-west corner of Valley of Tarsis.

These little creatures can be found in many other places. They are usually in groups of two, some times three.

Anthem Challenge - Festive Fruits of the Hunt

Among the weirdest creatures in all of Bastion are the Korox. They are peaceful (until they feel threatened by you) and usually roam the ground levels around Fort Tarsis Strider. You can find them often in or near water pools (not the deep waters, Korox don’t swim). If you don’t go too close or attack them, they will not bother with you.

Korox can be dangerous too. If you anger one and it decides not to run, but instead rushes towards you, it’s feels like a tank hits your javelin. Thankfully the damage they deal is not significant (unless you are severely underequipped, of course), but results in a mile knock-down effect.

Korox, similarly to Anrisaurs don’t always show when they are primed. I cannot tell if it’s a bug or intended. You just need to know that they are, to Combo and one-shot them.

Anthem Challenge - Festive Fruits of the Hunt

The Anrisaurs look like a giant spider. They have very thick skin and often don’t show an icon when primed, but they don’t present much of a challenge to any prepared Freelancer. One Combo hit from my Ranger is more than enough in GM3.

These giant spiders spit acid, but that attack can easily be avoided. If you are too close to them, they will attack you with their frontal legs. My favorite weapon against them is Ralner’s Blaze.

Anthem Challenge - Festive Fruits of the Hunt

Unless you are very new to Anthem you certainly know the Ursix. These giant beasts are frequently part of the daily missions (Yarrow’s). You can find them in Freeplay as part of an event or (very rarely) as a random spawn out in the open, but missions yield a better chance in my opinion.

What do you get from this challenge

The time you will spend hunting down these creatures is worth the reward from the Fruits of the Hunt weekly challenge. For defeating all of the listed above creatures you will get:

If you opt to convert these into Legendary items, that’s nine Item 80 pieces for your javelin(s). Of course the Crystals can be used to purchase a vinyl or armor pack or any of the other smaller items.

Note that the Seasonal store’s contents update every Tuesday. You can find the new items after each refresh here on VULKK.com in my usual Stores Updates reviews articles in the Anthem News Category.

Challenge Complete

Learn more about the creatures you are hunting

If you want to learn more about these creatures from a lore-point-of-view, below I have all the screenshots from the Library. If you have previously encountered these creatures, you will also have their entiries available. Open your Journal and navigate to Library – Environment – Fauna.

For some reason I don’t have Wyvern. I never noticed if this is a bug of there simply isn’t a Library entry for these flying creatures.

Combine Fruits of the Hunt with other activities

It is likely that you will have some left-over challenges unfinished. If you are a new player, you would have tons and tons available from Freeplay.

As you hunt down the creatures on your list, be sure to stop by and check out any Question Marks around. They can lead you to Cortex updates, Runes, Crafting Materials and any other goodies hidden in the wilds.

Did you know that even the non-aggressive creatures like Korox can drop loot? This challenge will teach you that in case you have been peacefully flying by them until now :)))

This is a Grabit. Enjoy them. Don’t kill them. They are not part of the Fruits of the Hunt challenge. Leave them alone or they might disappear again like they did when the Cataclysm event appeared.

There is no information at the moment if this challenge will return next week or remain as a one-time only. Currently it expires on Tuesday September 29, 2020.

The text of the challenge in-game suggest that is may be a part of series of challenges, similar to what BioWare did last year. However, the fact that Anthem is in a frozen state and the developers are focused on Anthem 2.0 at the moment, makes things a bit unclear.

Stay tuned as I and VULKK.com will inform you immediately when there is something new.

Thanks for checking out my “Festive Fruits of the Hunt” guide. I hope you found it helpful. Good luck, Freelancer!
