AC Valhalla can be preloaded now in case you didn’t know that. The game is about the same size on all gaming platforms:
- Xbox Series X|S: ~45 GB
- Xbox One: ~44 GB
- Playstation 5: ~45 GB
- Playstation 4: ~45 GB
- PC: ~45 GB
At this point (one day before launch) my game is fully pre-loaded on PC (Ubisoft Connect) with the day-1 patch installed and its total size is 46.7 GB. In case you are wondering, you should install the game on an SSD. This will dramatically improve your loading times.
I tested my own hardware with the in-game benchmark tool and here are the results (if you don’t see the video, please, disable your AdBlocker):
Between the time the game went Gold and the release date tomorrow, there was plenty of time for the developers to improve the experience even further. This resulted in the usual Day-1 Patch.
Update 1.0.2 is about 2.9 GB large for all platforms and includes the following changes, fixes and improvements, as stated by Ubisoft:
- Fine-tuned the balancing of the game
- Addressed various quest-related nuisances
- Improved performance and stability
- Miscellaneous bug fixes
- Added additional localized audio packs. Availability differs per region
- The Codex: We’re excited to reveal that the beloved Animus Database will return with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as “Codex”. The Codex has two parts, the Database & Tutorials.
- The Database provides information about the world and its people
- Tutorials provides insights on everything you have learned so far
Here are a few images previewing what the patch notes address:

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will have a long and extensive post-launch support in the form of paid DLCs (expansions), a bonus mission available at launch and free content. This is now a standard practice for Ubisofr as they did the same for AC Origins and AC Odyssey.
The Season Pass includes all post-launch content – two expansions, and the bonus mission.
Wrath of the Druids Expansion 1
In the first one you will explore haunted wilds and beautiful landscapes of Ireland as you embark on a battle against a cult of druids known as the Children of Danu. This new open-world adventure offers also conquering of ring forts, smuggling missions and more.
The Siege of Paris Expansion 2
The second expansion will take you to Francia. You will sail there to engage the forces of Charles the Fat as you participate in the Viking’s most daring conquest. You will be able to experience first-hand the infiltration of Paris, forge alliances within its walls and strike a shattering blow at this empire.
The Legend of Beowulf Bonus Mission
A bonus mission will allow you to explore The Legend of Beowulf. As the legend tells it, a mysterious beast is ravaging the countryside and it is up to you to track it down and reveal the secrets behind England’s first great epic. This mission is available with the launch of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla!
Free Seasonal Content and Game Updates
There will be free Seasonal content for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Everyone who owns any version of the game on any platform will be able to enjoy additional new in-game events, like the Yule Festival (around Christmas), new game modes such as the River Raids, Jomsviking updates and more.

I have to admit I was worried how I will manage to enjoy and cover both Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077 with the two games set to launch within a week. Now with the December delay of Cyberpunk 2077 I will have plenty of time to properly cover both titles and with the help of my friend and colleague Manfred for Valhalla.
How excited are you for the newest addition to the Assassin’s Creed Franchise? How do you plan to spend your game time with Valhalla (weird word-play, not intended!)?
