CD Projekt Red pushed out another emergency hotfix for Cyberpunk 2077. Patch 1.06 is now out for PC and consoles. It has only a few notes, but very very important ones. Let’s take a look!
Cyberpunk 2077 Hotfix 1.06 is now available for download for PC, Playstation and Xbox. It was released late last night on December 23, demonstrating CD Projekt Red’s commitment to fixing the major issues the game is having at the moment.
The size of this hotfix is 509 MB, for PC at least. I have no way to test on consoles and since it includes different
The biggest and most important fix is the one related to the file size of your saves. There is no more 8 MB save file size limit. This was only related to PC. If you thought PC gamers had it easy compared to console gamers, well… we have our big issues too.
When the save file size exceeded 8 MB, it got corrupted irreversibly for many players. If your save file size reached 8 MB, your game would crash and you will be unable to repair it in any way or return to this moment at all. The only solution was to start a new game.
This limit to the save file size is not removed with hotfix 1.06. It will not affect corrupted save files from before the update, unfortunately.
The save file size exceeding 8 MB was actually really only possible for players, who crafted a lot (I mean a lot!) and who have explored and completed most of what Night City and the game have to offer.
I personally had my files up to 6.5 MB and was approaching the limit, but the hotfix came just in time, thankfully.
If you want to check how big your local save files are, you can find them in the following place:
- For PC (WIN+R and copy that there): %userprofile%\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077
- For PlayStation 4: Settings > Application Saved Data Management > SAVED DATA IN SYSTEM STORAGE > Cyberpunk 2077
- For PlayStation 5: Settings > STORAGE > [Storage device] >Saved Data > PS4 Games / PS5 Games > Cyberpunk 2077
- For Xbox One: My Games and Apps > Cyberpunk 2077 > Menu > Manage Game > SAVED DATA
- For Xbox Series X/S: My Games and Apps > Cyberpunk 2077 > Menu > Manage Game and add-ons > SAVED DATA
Another important for the story fix is that if you spared Dum Dum in your first encounter with him, he will no longer disappear from Totentanz entrance during the Second Conflict mission.
Last, but not least, the memory stability and management have been improved for consoles specifically. This should result in fewer crashes. Note that the patch notes say “fewer”. CD Projekt Red are honest with you.
