Guide to the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Ostara Season Event and an overview of all activities you can participate in during this festival!
Important:
With Update 1.6.2, the final content update to the game, Ubisoft has removed all four seasonal festival events. All rewards are now available at all merchants located throughout England upon completing the quest The First Night of Samhain (Glowecestrescire arc). This will give you the opportunity to acquire rewards you might have missed out on in exchange for silver.

What is the Ostara Season in AC Valhalla
The 2022 edition of the Ostara Season in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla started on April 21st, 2022. It will end on May 12th, 2022. It offers the same casual activities as the 2021 edition, such as egg hunt quest, finding a new crown for the May Queen, protecting and decorating the settlement and a lot more.
There are new items available for purchase with Festival Tokens at Norvid, the festival vendor (more about these at the end of the article)
While participating in the seasonal events you will earn Festival Tokens, which you can use to trade for cool new items at the Ostara Season Vendor.
The Ostara Season is a free update for all players, who own the original game. It is available on all game platforms at the same time.
What is Ostara in the Viking mythology
Ostara is a part of the Wheel of the Year, which is am annual cycle of events, celebrated by many Pagans, even today. It’s not specific only to the Vikings, who are in the center of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s story and narrative.
Ostara is the second of three spring festivals on the Wheel of the Year. Coming in between Imbolc and Beltane, this is a time for celebrating the balance between extremes that is found amid the seasons. Although it may still be chilly in many regions, this is the official beginning of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere—it is the Vernal (Spring) Equinox, the moment of exact balance between the light and the dark.
Though it’s typically celebrated on March 20, the exact moment of the Equinox varies from year to year. This is due to a slight misalignment between the Gregorian calendar and the actual rate of the Earth’s rotation around the Sun. The Equinox also occurs at differing local times, so depending on where you live, it may fall the day before or the day after the date listed on any given calendar. For this reason, a date range of March 19-21 is often cited in sources on the Wheel of the Year.

How to start the Ostara Season in AC Valhalla
The Season started on March 21st 2021 and will last for three weeks exactly. During that time you will automatically get a notification for it the moment you log in to the game.
You must have your game updated to Patch 1.5.1 or higher to be able to participate in the event. This patch also brought the Transmog feature to the game, which allows you to change Eivor’s armor and weapons appearance.
The event becomes available after you complete one story arc in England – either Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire
Ostara Season Quests guide
There are a number of quests you can complete during the Ostara Season in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Some are repeatable, while others can be done only one time.
Each activity you participate in will bring you Festival Tokens, which you can use at the seasonal vendor in Ravensthorpe to trade for cool tatoos, settlement decorations, a bird skin and a lot more.
Some of the quests and activities are returning from the previous season – the Yule event in the game, but many are brand new and themed around the Ostara season, like the Egg Hunt and May Queen’s crown.
The quests-givers NPCs are located in the eastern parts of Ravensthorpe. Talk to each one of them to start the corresponding quest or activity.
Below I have a detailed overview and walkthrough of each one of the quests – how to start them, how to complete them and what reward you get from them.
Let’s get Festive
When you get to the Ostara festival grounds, stop by the vendor Norvid to get a quick orientation course and to browse the items you will be able to trade your Festival Tokens for.
Norvid will also give you a mini quest – to decorate the settlement. Place five settlement decorations around Ravensthorpe. Decorations can be placed at locations marked with these pedestals:
It doesn’t matter if you replace an existing decoration or place one in an empty spot. Placing different decorations on the same spot more than once doesn’t update and progress the quest, but there are many locations around the settlement you can use to place decorations.
When done, return back to Norvid to get your 50 Festival Tokens.
The May Queen
To start the May Queen talk to Mayda, the girl next to the wooden throne. This was my favorite quest, simply because of its whimsy nature and laughs it inspired in me!
Mayda is unhappy with her crown and demands a new one. Eivor has to go hunt down a “mighty” wild beast to get a better crown, more fitting for the May Queen.
The quest market takes you west from the settlement. When you arrive at the marked location, begin tracking for the beast by using your Odin’s Sight.
A few moments later you will find this man, cowering on top of a large rock.
That below is the BEAST! It’s feisty, be careful!
In all seriousness, the chicken will not be much of a trouble for you. Defeat it and go back to the farmer on top of the large rock.
Return to Mayda to bring her the new crown. This quest grants you 140 Festival Tokens.
Braun’s Folly
Talk to Braun to start Braun’s Folly. This is a rather typical quest and can be repeated. You have most likely played it before in other parts of Norway or England in your previous adventures as Eivor.
Drink faster and better than Folly to beat him and earn your reward. This is a typical Drinking game in AC Valhalla. Beating Braun at it earns you 10 Festival Tokens and you can repeat this challenge indefinitely.
Viking Brawl
This is a typical melee brawl fight minigame. You have also done these types of fights previously in your adventures. To start the quest talk to Sunniva. She is right outside the battle ring in the middle of the festival grounds in Revansthorpe.
The new and unique element here is that for each defeated opponent you will earn Festival Tokens, but if you choose to continue fighting, you will have to bet the tokens you have earned in your previous fight. If you win the next one, you earn more, but if you lose the fight, you lose all of your earnings in this improvised tournament.
Between each fight Eivor drinks ale, which helps replenish lost health during the brawl, but also weakens their focus. After a few fights in a row Eivor will no longer be able to focus their opponent and the opponents will become stronger and stronger.
The image above is not in low quality. This is actually how you will fight your opponents after a few ales :)))
To overcome them, you need patience, quick reactions with dodge and parry and you also need to maneuver around them smart and swift. Running and jumping to hit them with both your legs is the strongest and most useful attack in the later rounds. This attack makes them either lose focus for a moment or, even better, go down on the ground for a few seconds, during which time you can land a few “free” punches.
There are ten rounds in total, if you can survive them, of course. Each one gets tougher. Beating the tenth opponent – Goliath (a typical giant boss with a big and strong belly), will make you Champion, reward you with 140 Festival Tokens and unlock “The Sparring Siblings” for your next brawl. This is a quest you can repeat indefinitely.
Twirling Targets
This minigame can be repeated indefinitely and is familiar to those of you who participated in the Yule festival a few months ago. Talk to Thyra to start the challenge. She is on the wooden bridge, in the north end of the festival grounds.
You have two minutes to shoot as many targets as you can as they swirl towards you and back again. Only a few of the targets will be facing you at any given time. As soon as a batch turns towards you, shoot them quickly. Each target you hit before it turns back again, brings you additional points.
The smaller the target, the more points you earn for hitting it. It should not be a big problem to hit even the smallest target. You don’t need to aim at the center of the targets. You don’t even need to wait for the laggy red marker to appear.
Winning at this game will earn you 40 Festival Tokens. You can repeat it over and over again, for as long as you wish, while the event is live. Additionally Thyra will become an opponent in the Viking Brawl minigame.
Spiritual Defense
This is a mission you can start only at night. You can use the in-game wheel to skip time and meditate until the day cycle changes. Speak to Alvis to start this quest.
The starting point is at the north end of Ravensthorpe, on the other side of the lake. When you arrive at the location and wait for nightfall, someone else will show up – Ake. He will guide you instead of Alvis.
The first part of this quest tasks you with lighting up eight firepits. They are located around Ravensthorpe. Around means actually outside the settlemen.
To find their locations, you can use your bird to spot them or you can just follow the instructions below.
When you are near a firepit, click to interact with it or simply light up a Torch manually and stand close to light the fire.
The first firepit is right in the middle of the lake a few meters to the south from where you start this quest.
The second firepit is behind the old dock river raids building, just near the river in the most southern part of the settlement.
Third firepit is on a cliff in the far eastern end of the area.
The fourth firepit is at the top of the hill on the opposite bank of the river, south from Ravensthorpe.
The fifth is next to the Blacksmith building, on its south side.
The sixth firepit is next to the big tree in the graveyard.
The seventh one is up on a cliff overlooking the Seer’s Hut in the north-west end of the settlement. It’s just by the waterfall.
The final firepit is directly to the east from the seventh. Jump down from the cliff and go to the other side of the wooden bridge.
Once done with the firepits, go back to Ake and follow him to a hill nearby. Wait for nightfall again and talk to him.
Activate the Foul Totem and defeat the spirits that spawn right after that.
Talk to Ake one last time to complete the quest and earn your 140 Festival Tokens.
Egg Hunt
To start the Egg Hunt quest, talk to Alwin. He is also in the festival grounds area.
Here are the two papers with riddles:
This is probably the longest and most challenging quest from the Ostara season event in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. You have to find fifteen baskets with eggs. In your inventory you will find two notes with clues for six of the eggs. The remaining nine you will have to find on your own.
You can use Odin’s sight to discover the locations, but some of them are in sneaky and hard-to-find places. Below I have shared with you all fifteen locations of the baskets, in case you prefer not to go look on your own.
Each time you are near a basked of eggs, Eivor will notice a strange hissing sound and may also comment that there should be a basked nearby.
There’s a basket right next to Norvid’s shop.
Another one is behind the May Queen’s throne.
Third basket of eggs is beneath the targets from the “Twirling Targets” quest.
Another basket is on the roof of the small hut next to the brawl ring in the festival grounds area.
Fifth location on the roof of this large hut at the festival grounds.
There’s a basket right next to Reda’s shop.
Two baskeds of eggs are in the Longhouse. One on the ground near the western entrance.
Another basket is at the top of the building, on the wooden beams.
The third basket of eggs in the Longhouse is on a wooden beam on the eastern facade of the building.
Another basket is next to the big tree in front of the Stables building.
Next basket is at the top of one of the stone columns at the Museum building, behind the Longhouse.
Another basket is laying on the ground behind the Blacksmith.
And the next one is near your ship, at the docks.
The fourteenth basket is on the shores of the lake with the waterfall in the northern part of the settlement.
The final basket of eggs is at the graveyard, right next to one of the firepits from the quest “Spiritual Defense”.
After you collect all fifteen baskets, return to Alwin to complete this quest. The reward you get is in the amount of 140 Festival Tokens. Alwin will also become one of the NPCs you will be able to fight against in the Viking Brawl game.

Ubisoft’s FREE gifts to you (from 2021)
Please note that this segment was accurate for the initial launch of the Ostara festival in Spring of 2021 only.
As soon as you log in for the first time, you will receive a large number of rewards from Ubisoft as a thank you for enjoying their game. Here is a quick list and overview of what you will receive for free.
Godly Reward – Altair Outfit
To get the Godly Reward package, click on the tab in the lower right corner of the screen while on the main screen of the game. The item will then be transferred to your character as soon as you log in.
This package contains an original Assassin’s Creed Altair outfit for Eivor. Thanks to the Transmog system in AC Valhalla you can now make Eivor look differently, while preserving the benefits of the best set bonus and weapons of your choosing.
For some reason the Altair torso outfit is not available at the moment in the Transmog section of Gunnar’s shop – most likely a bug that will be fixed soon. You can equip it as a standard torso item. It arrives to you as a Superior Tier gear piece. If you pull up the hood (hold B on PC), it will make Eivor look exactly like the very first character from the very first game in this franchise! Classic!
Equipping the torso will change Eivor’s complete appearance, but it will preserve all of the stat bonuses of your other gear items equipped.
Yule Festival Gear Set and Cosmetics
The gear set and cosmetics available from the previous festival event from December – the Yule Season – are now granted to you for free as a token of gratitude for playing and supporting the game.
You can check out my full overview of Altair’s Outfit and the Godly Rewards package more in-depth if you wish.
300 Festival Tokens gift
The final gift you will get are 300 Festival Tokens as you log in to the game for the first time while the event is live. You can use these to purchase anything from the Festival Vendor.
Ubisoft’s store items may be ridiculously overpriced and more frequent compared to the in-game content for the game, but the company at least makes attempts to show their gratitude for the community’s overall great and very positive reception of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
