The High Republic takes us about two hundred years before the Skywalker saga. It is a good time for the Republic and the Jedi are among the most respected and admired keepers of the piece. The Republic is prospering. Of course, conflicts arise all the time!
The era is expanding rapidly and the next book from the series is called Star Wars: The Rising Storm. In it the Jedi have to go face-to-face with the true fear their enemy plans to unleash upon the Galaxy!
Star Wars The Rising Storm is a brand new book set to release on June 29 2021. It will be available in all standard formats – hardcover, ebook and in audio format (read by Mark Thompson, naturally).
In the wake of the Great Hyperspace Disaster and the heroism of the Jedi, the Republic continues to grow, bringing more worlds together under a single unified banner. Under the leadership of Chancellor Lina Soh, the spirit of unity extends throughout the galaxy, with the Jedi and the newly established Starlight Beacon station at the vanguard.

The Great Disaster is the first major event described in the timeline of The High Republic. It is followed by a few others, which are explored in more detail in other books and comics.
Star Wars The Rising Storm is the second adult novel in the High Republic series from Penguin Random House. The first book is now available and is called Star Wars: Light of the Jedi. It released in January 2021.
A few notes on the characters and organizations you will encounter in Star Wars The Rising Storm (no spoilers, of course):
- Stellan Gios – a very respected Jedi Master, strong in the Force and known for his optimism.
- Bell Zettifar – Padawan to Jedi Master Loden Greatstorm.
- Elzar Mann – an unorthodox and somewhat controversial Jedi because of the way he experiments with the Force.
- Nihil – a marauder group based in the Outer Rim.
- Marchion Ro – the leader of the Nihil marauder group.
The two books are part of the so-called “Phase I – Light of the Jedi”. I suppose Marvel’s way of structuring their timeline and events is spreading onto Star Wars too now.
Author of Star Wars The Rising Storm is Cavan Scott. He is a UK number one bestseller with background in other famous franchises outside of the Star Wars universe – Doctor Who, Star Trek, Vikings, Pacific Rim, Sherlock Holmes and Judge Dredd.
Cavan Scott also wrote Dooku: Jedi Lost. It is an official canon audiobook voiced by a full cast and is simply breath-taking to listen to! I highly recommend you get it and listen to it.
