Outriders June 22 Patch Notes – Legendary Drop Changes

RubyRose by RubyRose|

This article is a break down the Outriders Patch for June 22, 2021. This patch saw boosts to Legendary Drop Rate and Other legendary Drop Changes, but just how effective were they?

Legendary Drop Changes

Jumping straight into the meat of this update, we’ll talk about how the updates are playing out and what it means for Outriders everywhere. There were changes to Drop Rate, Drop Restrictions and even something to help prevent duplicates.

Legendary Drop Rate Changes

Legendary Drop Rates were doubles across the board. This includes Expeditions as well as normal drops. While normal drops are less impactful as they were obscenely rare to begin with, Expeditions drop rates getting boosted helps significantly with the end game gearing process.

Keep in mind the the drops rates for expeditions listed below are for a total of 4 items, so each chance is rolled 4 times. The percentage in parenthesis are the estimated probability of a one of the four drops being Legendary. Since Legendaries don’t drop as an Expedition reward until Tier 6, the list starts there.

TierPre-patch Gold RewardPost-Patch Gold RewardDifference
6 0.75% Legendary (~2.96% per gold)1.25% Legendary (~4.91% per gold)~65.88% Increase
71.25% Legendary (~4.91% per gold)2.5% Legendary (~9.63% per Gold)~96.13% Increase
82.5% Legendary (~9.63% per Gold)5% Legendary (~18.55% per gold)~92.63% Increase
95% Legendary (~18.55% per gold)10% Legendary (~34.39% per gold)~85.39% Increase
106% Legendary (~21.93%)12% Legendary (~40.03%)~82.54% Increase
117.5% Legendary (~26.8%)15% Legendary (~47.80%)~78.36% Increase
1210% Legendary (~34.39%)20% Legendary (~59.04%)~71.68% Increase
1315% Legendary (~47.80%)30% Legendary (~75.99%)~57.975% Increase

With the numbers listed out, which Challenge tiers benefited the most here? Despite earlier tiers getting a more sizable increase to their rate of pulling one legendary, everything from CT9 and up seen more sizable increases. When you’re dealing values that are less than 5% already, they may have a higher chance afterwards at least in their overall odds, but their overall odds are still lower compared to a higher tier.

What does this mean for endgame farming? Well, if you have the extra resources to dump into upgrading and are struggling in Tier 14 or Tier 15, Tier 12 and Tier 13 are both much more viable farming options if you can readily clear them. Below that, Tier 9 is now on par with old Tier 12, and Tiers 9 and 10 were common places you’d want to stop and farm if progressing solo without any kind of extra help as you were able to clear them pretty reliably and farm Tiago’s shop while still getting a decent rate from expeditions.

Legendary Luck and Anti-Duplicate Changes

These are some interesting changes and between the two of them, not only should Outriders see Legendary drops more often, they’re also more likely to be new. These should eliminate a lot of edge cases for Outriders that had struggled with droughts from Legendary drops only to receive a second copy of a Legendary.

Luck, or I guess the more familiar way to put this, Bad Luck Protection has been improved. This by itself is good, but since there’s not a lot of exact details or numbers here, it’s hard to gauge how effective it was overall. Hopefully it end up breaking a lot of droughts, especially in the middling Challenge Tiers.

The Anti-Duplication system is.. well a bandaid, and a semi-abusable (if you want to call it that) one at that, if you have multiple characters. This system checks your Inventory and Stash and will roll the item a second time if the item exists in either place.

Since it checks both your inventory and your stash, stashing unwanted and common Legendary Armors like the Cannonball set would make the system re-roll those pieces. It doesn’t guarantee that it wouldn’t roll into another piece of the sets you stash, but it can be used to avoid getting more the Any-Class Legendary pieces as a good example. This in turn would effectively increase the odds that you get Class-specific Legendary Armors. All said and done, it’s a good change for Outriders struggling with filling out their collection of Legendary items.

Legendary Level Brackets and Scripted Boss Drops

The last couple changes are pretty minor, but one will help a lot with endgame build gearing. They removed the level brackets for Legendary Drops, as well as added more loot to the pools for the few boss fights with scripted Legendary Drops.

With Level Brackets removed, that means new players may have better have a higher chance of lucking into potentially endgame gear pieces. A lot of Class-specific Armor pieces were gated to only drop from high level enemies. Referring to the example they gave, Trickster’s Ugake Cowl could only drop from Level 48 or higher enemies, which meant you needed to be farming CT13 or higher Expedition to ever see it. Now items like that can drop at any point. This bracket removal combined with the other changes really makes farming CT12 a viable strategy.

A few bosses in the game, specifically Chrysaloid and Yagak have scripted drops. They will always drop a Legendary from a smaller pool on their first defeat. This amount to three in total over the campaign. This pool is limited to around 6 weapons, the Cannonball Helmet and now includes all of the non-class specific Helmets. Some of these helmets have strong mods, like Anomaly’s Visage which has Anomaly Echo and Untamed Power, both are powerful for melee or skill-based builds early on.

Other Changes and Fixes

To wrap things up, we’ll quickly cover the changes deployed in this patch.

Consoles now have extra options and settings for Controller Customization. They added Deadzones, Look Sensitivity, Acceleration and Legacy Layouts. These are all great Quality of Life changes for Console players. In addition to this, Xbox Sign-In time have been improved.

The Epic Store version of the game has had it’s issue with the Hell’s Ranger gear unlocking resolved. Just in time for them to also enable the Earthborn / Hell’s Ranger DLC items to be scrapped, rejoice Technomancers!

They made a much requested fix to your entire inventory being marked new, when they weren’t new items. A very minor, but welcomed change overall.

There were a number of Multiplayer bug fixes, including improvements to connectivity. Specifically, they mention Feed the Flames has been fixed and should properly apply Ash in Multiplayer. They also applied a fix to mitigate getting stuck in animation after using Gravity Leap in Multiplayer as well.

They also fixed a few mod interactions as well. Specifically, the Ravenous Locust Mod should work properly in combination with the Weightlessness Mod. In addition to this, they made it so the Scrap Grenade Mod will no longer be blocked by fallen enemies.

That sums up this patch quite nicely. If you’re looking for even more Outriders content, check out Outriders News and Guides section, which is packed with Builds, Guides and coverage of previous patches.

Changes to the Legendary Drops.

  • Legendary Drop Rates, across the board, increased by 100%
  • Legendary Level Brackets have been removed, so that all Legendary items can drop at any level.
    • Previously, some items could only drop from enemies of certain levels or above. For example, the Ugake Cowl could only drop from enemies of level 48 or higher.
  • Legendary Anti-Duplication System implemented
    • This system will mean that if a character has an item in their inventory or stash and a duplicate item is rolled, the dropped item will be re-rolled once.
    • Note that this system does not guarantee that every drop will be unique. Rather, it is designed to provide a second roll at avoiding a duplicate.
  • Scripted Boss Loot (Chrysaloid, Yagak) are now able to drop all non-class specific Legendary Helmets
    • This change will improve the variety of items in the Campaign.
    • Previously, these bosses would only drop a selection of Legendaries (the same pool that was available in the Demo as well as the Cannonball Helmet).
  • The Luck system has been improved and players should no longer experience very long droughts without a Legendary item dropped during endgame.
    • The base scaling of Legendaries dropping through higher difficulty levels still applies, so you may will still want to farm as high as possible.
