New World Release Delayed until September 2021

New World release has been delayed with a month. We discuss this announcement and analyze what it could mean for the future of Amazon's MMORPG

The Message from the New World Team

The message they tweeted out earlier reads as follows:

” We are humbled by the support New World received from players around the world throughout Closed Beta. During Beta, more than a million adventurers played more than 16 million total hours. Thanks to your support, New World became one of the most watched games of Twitch, and one of the most played games on Steam. The passion and enthusiasm you’ve shown for New World validates the work we’ve put in over the past year, improving the game based on your feedback.

Along the way, you’ve also given us a ton of feedback that we’ll use to make New World even better. We want New World’s launch to be a smooth and fun experience for all players, and that means making some improvements based on what you encountered during Closed Beta. So we’re going to be taking a few extra weeks to smash bugs, improve stability, and polish the game. New World’s new global launch date is September 28, 2021.

This was not an easy decision to make. We know this isn’t the first time we’ve changed our launch date in pursuit of quality, and that it can be disappointing to wait a bit longer. But we want to be sure we deliver you the highest quality game possible at launch. Thank you for your support and Feedback. We’re listening. We’ll see you in Aeternum.”

The delay message, as it was given on Twitter.

Did New World shoot itself in the foot with this delay?

Like many others, we’re excited to get back into New World as soon as possible. However, we’re also happy that they want to take the time to fix and polish the game more. I think the only problem is that with the launch now being two months out, there’s a high chance many could forget about the game or another release could overshadow it.

Personally from the experiences I had on my server during beta, There were a ton of bugs going around as well as exploits being found and abused. They had quite a few of them fixed by the end of the Closed Beta period, but there were still certainly some issues left that needed fixing. So I hope they use the next couple months to really dig in and make sure there’s as little or not exploits and such as possible. I’ll personally never expect it to be bug-free, however I do hope they’re able to knock out a lot of the ones that really hindered some people’s experiences.

With it being pushed back, right to the edge of one of the biggest release windows, this could potentially hurt their playerbase at launch. Between now and their new launch date, there’s quite a few notable releases that could draw interest away. There’s also a few launching at or around the same time and in the same genre, which will likely set the playerbase back. I think Elyon will be one it has to watch out for, which releases the day after New World’s new launch date. Elyon comes from the same studio as Black Desert Online, which is already an impressive game in itself.

It’s hard to say how much, if any at all this new launch date will set them back. For now we’ll just have to wait and see. A lot of games get plenty of hype only to fall flat on release. So it’ll likely come down to how well the games around it launch, as well as what they change in New World for release.

While waiting, learn about the weapons in New World, what are their strongest and weak perks and which one would best fit your choice.

You can check the New World category for more news as we get closer to the release. A ton of guides will be launched on or shortly after the game launches. We are doing our best to make VULKK.com your one-stop place for all things New World!
