Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Oskoreia Festival Guide: everything you should know

Vulkk by Vulkk|

Guide to the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Oskoreia Season Event and an overview of all activities you can participate in during this festival!

Important:

With Update 1.6.2, the final content update to the game, Ubisoft has removed all four seasonal festival events. All rewards are now available at all merchants located throughout England upon completing the quest The First Night of Samhain (Glowecestrescire arc). This will give you the opportunity to acquire rewards you might have missed out on in exchange for silver.

What is the Oskoreia Festival in AC Valhalla

Oskoreia, also known as the Wild Hunt, occurs in northern European cultures. The Wild Hunt is a group of ghostly figures that usually chase somebody or something.

According to Scandinavian legends, the leader of their Wild Hunt version is Odin and it was also known as Odin’s hunt.

You will be able to prove your worth by helping your fellow settlers prepare for the Wild Hunt and participate in a few challenging mini-games that will earn you special Festival Tokens on top of the fame and pride of being the winner, of course.

Oskoreia isn’t a celebration. It’s when the veil between the worlds grows thin and the dead will haunt us if we don’t honor them.
The Gods come to Midgard to hunt. Not just beasts, but men also.

UPDATE ON EVENT DURATON: Ubisoft announced that the Oskoreia Festival will be extended with a week. Instead of ending on December 2, as originally planned, the festival event will end on December 9.

How to participate in Oskoreia Festival

To be able to start the main quest, which branches into other side quests and repeatable mini-games, you will need to have reached England and completed at least one of the first two story arks on English ground – Ledecestrescire or Grantebridgescire’s stories. Additionally you will need to level up your Settlement to Level 2.

Thankfully, I have just the guide you need to help you level up Ravensthorpe – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Settlement Guide

Once you meet all of the above-mentioned criteria and provided you have updated your game to Patch 1.4.0 or higher, the invitation to participate in the Oskoreia festival will appear on your screen as soon as you log in.

The harvest season takes on new urgency with the approach of Oskoreia, when the unwary may become the quarry of Odin’s Wild Hunt. However, readiness and resolve can turn fortune in your favor.

AC Valhalla Oskoreia Festival Season welcome screen message

Return to Revansthorpe. Once you travel there, a cinematic scene will play out introducing you to the event. The locals will welcome you back and introduce you into the activities.

While participating (and winning) in the mini-games and events during the Oskoreia Season, you will be earning Festival Tokens, which you can then use to purchase goodies. More on that later in the guide. These are the same Festival Tokens you may remember from previous events, such as the Ostara Festival or the Sigrblot Festival from earlier this year.

Hint: If you do all of the missions at least once, you will end up with more Festival Tokens than you need to purchase the two most expensive and most valuable items – the bird skin and the new weapon.

Oskoreia Season Quests Guide

Same as the previous Festivals and events, the main area where the action is is Ravensthorpe, more specifically the Festival Grounds area is in the east part of the settlement.

The main quest asks you to literally complete the other quests that become available after you start the event in the settlement.

AC Valhalla Oskoreia Missions

The Oskoreia season features the following repeatable activities:

  • The already familiar Archery, but with a twist – friendly targets will pop up to distract and punish you if you hit them.
  • Horseback riding on a predefined track with additional specific targets to shoot with your bow while riding and get bonus time for doing so.
  • tournament against spirits, in which you will have to survive against waves of spectral warriors as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Same as with previous festivals – you earn the same types and amount of rewards from the event missions regardless of which gameplay difficulty you chose.

I will explain all of the missions part of this event in the order I suggest you do them. There is no strict order, however and if you prefer to do them differently, it’s up to you!

Riding for Glory

This is a new repeatable quest or mini-game if you will. It starts by talking to Ake, who is at the Oskoreia festival stables, located to the far most eastern edge of the village.

Riding the Glory Mission from AC Valhalla Oskoreia Festival

The mini-game is quite easy actually, especially if this is not your first day in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

The task before you is to run a dedicated track riding a horse. You will have your bow and an unlimited number of arrows to shoot two types of obstacles on and around your path.

You have to pass through these arches. They are very clearly marked with the green quest icon marker.

Riding for Glory Mission markers

At the top you will see a timer that counts towards zero and a bar that fills up and empties depending on your actions. Depending on how much you fill up that bar when you cross the finish line, a different amount of Festival Tokens will be awarded to you. The maximum is 40 for a Gold medal.

Passing a gate gives you +5 seconds.

AC Valhalla Oskoreia Archer test in Riding for Glory

Hitting these targets will both increase your timer and fill up your bar with some additional amount. It doesn’t matter if you hit with the arrow the middle or anywhere else. Breaking them is enough.

Shooting and breaking a target gives you additional +5 seconds on your time.

Some of the gates are barred with these weak wooden fences. You can break them too for an additional +3 seconds.

Near the end you may see a few enemy NPC Skirmishers. They are not dangerous and by all means don’t stop to fight them.

Targeted Strategy

If this isn’t your first festival in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you are most likely all too familiar with the archery mini game. For Oskoreia the starter NPC is still on the bridge, north from the festival grounds. This is a repeatable mission.

AC Valhalla Oskoreia Festival - Targeted Strategy mission starter NPC

This time the mission is called Targeted Strategy and comes with a twist. You have to shoot all targets, but avoid shooting a friendly target that may appear. And you still have to do it as fast as possible, because you have limited time.

You will stand firm on one spot, without the ability to move. The targets have different size and color. The smaller the target, the bigger the points reward:

  • Green (large) – 15 points
  • Orange (medium) – 20 points
  • Purple (small) – 25 points

There are three friendly targets that will pop in and out. They act as normal targets, but you should NOT shoot at them. If you hit a friendly target, you lose points from your score.

The maximum reward you can gain from this quest is 30 Festival Tokens. I didn’t bother to test how low is the threshold for that, but you don’t need to shoot perfectly. Even on some of the attempts where I hit the friendlies a couple of times and missed a few of the targets, I still got the max amount of tokens.

Veiled Threats

The Veiled Threats is the third repeatable mission for the Oskoreia event. Start it by talking to Swinda.

AC Valhalla Oskoreia Festival - Veiled Threats Mission NPC

This mini-game consists of three rounds. You are sent to the veil and set to fight against three waves of enemies with increasing difficulty. They vary between regular soldiers, Druids and Warewolves (yeah!).

The third round is a bit more challenging as your mind gets fuzzy and the fog around gets thicker. You fight one Warewolf in Round 2 and one more in Round 3. The yare always coming as support after you defeat the original spawn from the wave.

There are three tiers of challenges available:

  • Regular fight – fight the three waves of enemies with your own gear and build
  • Druid Gear Challenge – unlocks after you complete the regular fight at least once and allows you to go against the three waves of enemies using the Druid Gear Set, but you keep your own abilities. You have only limited healing rations in this challenge for the duration of the fight.
  • Reaper Gear Challenge – unlocks after you complete the Druid Gear Challenge. Fight the three waves using a Scythe weapon and no ranged attacks. You still keep all of your previously selected abilities.
Fighting a warewolf inVeiled Threats - AC Valhalla Oskoreia Festival mission

You can earn up to 125 Festival Tokens from this mission and you can repeat it as many times as you wish. The three challenge tiers reward you different amounts:

  • My Gear challenge: 75+15 Tokens
  • Druid Gear challenge: 75 + 25 Tokens
  • Reaper Gear challenge: 75 + 50 Tokens

The bonus Tokens are awarded the first time only, when you complete the Mastery. After that every successful completion grants you 75 Festival Tokens, regardless of which Challenge you choose and on what game difficulty you play it.

Homeward

This is one of the story missions you get when you start the Oskoreia event. Talk to Alwin to begin it. He is at one of the tents in the festival grounds area.

Talk to Alwin to start the story mission for Oskoreia Festival in AC Valhalla

Alwin will ask you to find and talk to the Mad Monk. If you use your Odin’s Sight or the bird, you will see a smoke column showing you the path. Or you can just check the image I have below for the exact location you need to go:

After talking to the Mad Monk, you will enter the veil. Use Odin’s Sight to get a clue for where to go next.

Continue forward until you find this stone:

Now you need to play a familiar mini-game from the base game – Standing Stone Mystery. Match the sign you see on the stone by taking the appropriate position and looking at the right direction.

A few meters further you will see a circle of stones. On the east side there is a horizontal stone elevated on another vertical one. Climb on it and look west until you match the edges of this figure:

After a short cinematic you will have to defeat an NPC called “Shadow Eivor”. It’s a normal boss-like encounter.

After that you will wake up back in Ravensthorpe, in front of the Longhouse. Inspect the rune engraved on the house’s main door to see this:

This completes the quest and opens up the next one – An Honorable Death.

An Honorable Death

This mission is given to you after you complete Homeward. Go back to the festival grounds to examine Godmund’s ship, which will be right in the middle and will have names of the Fallen engraved on its hull.

One of the names will be without a description – Kalf. You need to find out who he was and what was his legend in this quest now.

Use Odin’s Sight to discover spots where the wounded man from the cinematic you just watched may have gone.

First, go to the big white tree at the south-east corner of the Longhouse. The first marker is there.

Continue using Odin’s Sight and follow the teal markings. Or just go north from the settlement to this location (it will not be marked with a quest icon until you discover it):

Examine the wounded man under the bridge..

Now head to the hilltop west from Ravensthorpe and interact with this fire:

Next: find the four locations with information about Kalf’s fate. Below I have the descriptions of where to go and how to find them. You will be in the veil and there’s no map, so follow my directions if you want to save up some time looking for them on your own.

The first marker you need to examine is right at the edge of the hill where the fire is and where you start.

You will find the second item to examine down by the river.

The third item you need to examine is on the other bank of the river. Swim through it.

The final fourth item to examine is actually under water. Dive to the depths of the river and use Odin’s Sight to spot what remains of a ship.

As soon as you find all four locations and interact with the markers, you will be sent back to the real world.

Go back to Ravensthorpe and honor Kalf by writing a brief description under his name of the ship’s hull.

Hunting for Honor

This is the main event quest. Its description is vague: “Eivor must help Ravensthorpe and its people prepare for Oskoreia, the Wild Hunt.”

You need to finish Homeward and An Honorable Death first. When you do, go collect your 200 Festival Tokens to complete this one as well. The amount of Festival Tokens reward was apparently changed for the 2022 edition of the event, as reported by player Odinpup in the comments.

A Measure of Respect

This is the continuation of the story. The quest is given to you after you complete Homeward, An Honorable Death and Hunting for Honor, in that order.

Talk to the Mad Monk (you have to do it at night, can meditate to speed the time), watch a cinematic and you will be officially done with the Oskoreia Festival event in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla!

The finalle of AC Valhalla Oskoreia festival event story

But if you want to get any of the most valuable rewards from the event, you’ll have to do some grind on the repeatable missions, because Norvid has a nice collection of new shinies to offer to you! More about them below.

What can you get at Festival Shop

Norvid’s shop makes a return for the Oskoreia festival. He is willing to trade you his goodies for Festival Tokens, which you can earn easily by completing the story and repeatable missions.

Norvid's Shop - AC Valhalla Oskoreia Season

As with Sigrblot from earlier this year, during Oskoreia Norvid now also offers to exchange Opals for Festival Tokens. The prices are the same as before. Here is the full list of items and prices for each one.

If you have not purchased the items from last year, they will be available to you again this year. I have purchased some of the items myself, so I can’t confirm their price now.
Thanks to player Odinpup for the comment under the guide to remind me of that fact.

Wild Flail and Wild Hammer (new weapons for 2022)

Below I will highlight the two most valuable (in my opinion) and most expensive items: the Wild Flail and Wild Hammer.

Hel’s Scythe (still available in 2022)

Hel’s Scythe was introduced to the event in 2021. If you have not purchased this item in the previous edition of the event, it should appear in the store for you.

  • Type: 2-handed melee weapon
  • Family tree: Raven gear
  • Tier on purchase: Superior (Red 1/10)
  • Perk: Increase Fire Build-Up and Fire Damage when hitting ignited enemy
    Duration: 10s
    Cooldown: 10s
    Bonus: +7.5 Fire Build Up
    Bonus: +7.5 Fire Damage

The above images are of the weapon in its original tier and visual. You can upgrade it up to two times and then you can choose between its visuals in the Transmog system. Below I will show you the weapon in its second and third visuals after upgrading:

The main difference is with the candles and the top of the weapon – the end of the wooden stick and how the blade is attached to it. In the Flawless tier the candles burn with normal orange-red flame, in the Mythical version they are red, but burn with white flames. The spikes are also differently shaped.

Scythes in general are great fun to wield and I highly recommend you to get at least some of the other ones available in the game. I have a helpful guide for that too: AC Valhalla All Scythe Weapons Locations in Francia (Siege of Paris).

Bone Raven (still available in 2022)

This is a skin for your bird. You can apply it by visiting the stable master in Ravensthorpe. If you have not purchased this item in the previous edition of the event, it should appear in the store for you.

If this wasn’t enough for you, don’t forget that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Update 1.4.0 also released the Tombs of the Fallen, which is brand new free content you can play through and loot the Fallen Heroes Armor Set, which is great for low level players!
