A guide showing you how to start A Fated Encounter story arc and go to the Isle of Skye released with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Update 1.4.1!
The Isle of Skye is a small new region available in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It was added with Update 1.4.1 on December 15th, 2021. This new story arc is available for free to all owners of the base game.
Requirements to unlock the Isle of Skye and A Fated Encounter story arc
To be able to play this new story arc you have to qualify for it. The first and most important thing is to have your game client updated to Patch 1.4.1 or higher.
You will also need to reach Level 4 with your Settlement Ravensthorpe in England. This is because you will need to speak to Valka and Edyt, who will send you to the Isle of Skye.
Valka settles in Ravensthorpe after you complete the mission “A Wise Friend”. There is no way to miss or forget this mission. If you do not see it in your mission log, it means you have not reached the point when it will appear. See if you are meeting the other above-mentioned requirements.
How to begin the story arc “A Fated Encounter”
If you meet the criteria, you will see a welcoming screen the next time you log in or as soon as you complete all of the pre-required missions:
“Rumor has it the Isle of Skye has fallen prey to terrible nightmares plaguing its people.
Not a soul on the island can escape a night of troubled sleep.
Save the beautiful Isle of Skye from its descent into madness in A Fated Encounter.
Keep an eye out for a strange visitor at Ravensthorpe to begin this journey”
When you get this, go to Ravensthorpe. Head for Valka’s tent. It is located in the north-western part of the settlement, past the Longhouse and behind the stables.
As soon as you return to Ravensthorpe, you will get the introductory mission for “A Fated Encounter” story arc. The mission is called “A Distorted Dream”.
Get to the marked spot near the small red tent. You will see a new NPC there. This is Edyt. She is Valka’s friend. Start a conversation with her and Valka will appear a moment later to help you travel to the new destination.
Quick side note: if you play AC Valhalla on an Ultrawide screen, there is an easy fix for the black bars during cinematics!
Edyt has come to Ravensthorpe to ask you for help as her friend Valka has told her Eivor will be able to assist her with her problems.
At this point, Valka will join the cinematic scene and explain the purpose of Edyt’s visit and her request for you to help her people living on the Isle of Skye.
The people on the small island have started experiencing terrible nightmares. It is not only her people that are being affected, though. Valka has started to lose sleep as well. She fears this may spread to Ravensthorpe soon if not dealt with.
There’s a strange twist to the story at this point. Valka tells Eivor that she believes somehow Randvi is involved, in a bad way.
How to travel to the Isle of Skye
At the end of the cinematic with Edyt and Valka you will have a choice – travel to the Isle of Skye immediately or leave it for a later point. Note that whenever you decide to invest more time into this story arc, it will still be there, waiting for you and available. It is not a time-limited event or mission.
When you travel to the Isle of Skye, you will again watch another short intro cinematic. That small island is really beautiful.
After a short conversation, Edyt will tell Eivor to start the investigation at Kiltaraglen.
When the cinematic ends you will be able to open the map and see the island for yourself. Your arrival is at Brother’s Point at the eastern shores of the island. Kiltaraglen is south from there, along the shoreline.
On the default difficulty of the game, this area is designed for Power Level 55. On Nightmare it is 529. Ubisoft allowed a ton of customization with the gameplay difficulties and now you can tweak nearly every element of the game to match your desired level of challenge.
Although I still find it way too easy, even in Nightmare (as if something is not working as intended right now in 1.4.1).
The Isle of Skye has its own secrets and treasures. It offers nine wealth nodes, three mysteries and five artifacts among other things for you to discover and earn as you explore it.
By the time you get out of the cinematic, the intro mission will end and you will get the next one: “Tossing and Turning”.
Full map of the island
Here is the full Isle of Skye map discovered (minus a few of the wealth items that I have already picked up on the way).
There are two synchronization points available, which will show you almost the entire map if you visit them first. The first one is southwest from the landing area and the second one is further west – near Dunvegan Village. There’s also a harbor at Hungladder. And. of course, you can travel to Kiltaraglen via its quick-travel point.
How to find Kassandra from AC Odyssey in AC Valhalla
Ubisoft teased this before the release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Update 1.4.1. Kassandra, the female main character from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will meet with Eivor in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as part of the “A Fated Enounter” story arc that takes you to Isle of Skye.
If you are wondering if you need to do something special to meet Kassandra – no. Eivor mistakes Kassandra for Randvi at first, then realizes that she is someone else.
The two fight in a rather epic cinematic cutscene and then decide to team up to continue the investigation of the mysterious artifact that seems to be causing the nightmares of the population of the island.
This is all part of the “Tossing and Turning” mission. The meeting between the two happens when you complete the objective “Find the warrior with the braid” after you visit Kiltaraglen and talk to the villagers.
Ubisoft released a new update to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at the same time today (December 15th). It features a new story as well.
You can play the AC Odyssey storyline as both Kassandra and Alexios, but in AC Valhalla only Kassandra will appear as part of the new story arc on the Isle of Skye.
In my next guide I will show you how to find and get the new weapons available on Isle of Skye.
