Guide to the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Yule Season Event and an overview of all activities you can participate in during this festival!
Important:
With Update 1.6.2, the final content update to the game, Ubisoft has removed all four seasonal festival events. All rewards are now available at all merchants located throughout England upon completing the quest The First Night of Samhain (Glowecestrescire arc). This will give you the opportunity to acquire rewards you might have missed out on in exchange for silver.

What is the Yule Festival in AC Valhalla
According to history, Yule is a traditional Germanic Winter festival that celebrates the Winter Solstice. Nobody can tell exactly how old this is as it goes back thousands of years and was celebrated by the Germanic peoples of Germany and Scandinavia.
The Yule Festival in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla runs for the second time since the game’s release. This edition will be available from December 16th until January 6th, 2022. There are new items available at the Festival Vendor. It will be worth checking it out even if you have participated in the activities the previous year.
Note: The end date of the Yule festival for the 2021-2022 edition of the event is not yet announced. Ubisoft extended the duration of the event because of the major bug that prevented players from seeing the festival if they participated last year. According to the in-game notification of expiration date, it seems to be now extended to the end of January.
How to start the Yule Festival
To be able to start the main quest, which branches into other side quests and repeatable mini-games, you will need to have reached England and completed at least one of the first two story arks on English ground – Ledecestrescire or Grantebridgescire’s stories. Additionally, you will need to level up your Settlement to Level 2.
Once you meet all of the above-mentioned criteria and provided you have updated your game to Patch 1.4.1 or higher, the invitation to participate in the Oskoreia festival will appear on your screen as soon as you log in.
This Yule Festival event is very similar to previous events you may have participated in if you have played Assassin’s Creed Valhalla when Ostara, Oskoreia and Sigrblot were active.
Return to Ravensthorpe. Once you travel there, a cinematic scene will play out introducing you to the Yule festival event. Norvid will welcome you back and introduce you to the available activities.
While participating (and winning) in the mini-games and events during the Oskoreia Season, you will be earning Festival Tokens, which you can then use to purchase goodies. More on that later in the guide. These are the same Festival Tokens you may remember from previous events, such as the Ostara Festival, Sigrblot Festival, Oskoreia Festival or the previous edition of the Yule Festival from 2020-2021.
In the intro cinematic Norvid will speak of “Yule tokens”. They were called this before Ubisoft decided to rename them and create a common currency for all of the festivals they released to the game.
To give you a head-start, Norvid will gift you some Festival Tokens.
You can spend Festival Tokens at Norvid’s shop. Norvid is the vendor who will trade your tokens for a bunch of cosmetics and gear. Even if you participated in last year’s Yule Festival, you have a reason to do it again. There are new items available. More about Norvid’s shop at the end of this guide.
Yule Season Quests Guide
Same as the previous Festivals and events, the main area where the action is is Ravensthorpe, more specifically the Festival Grounds area is in the east part of the settlement.
After the intro cinematic ends you will be given five new quests, part of the Yule Festival. Below is a detailed walkthrough for all of them.
Twirling Targets
This would be a familiar game if you have done the previous festivals. Talk to Thyra to start the quest. She is sitting on the wooden bridge on the north side of the festival grounds.
The task before you for this is to hit as many targets as you can. The targets will turn towards you in groups of 3-4. After a few seconds they will turn back and another set of targets will turn towards you.
You need to shoot fast. No need to aim for the middle. As long as your market turns red, shoot.
Different targets reward you with different amounts of points.
- Green (large) – 15 points
- Orange (medium) – 20 points
- Purple (small) – 25 points
At the very end, all targets will turn towards you. Shoot them all or if you know you are not quick enough with the bow, try to shoot the Orange and Yellow ones first. They reward more points.
You do not need to hit all of them. At the end, Thyra will tell you how well you did. If you hit enough targets, she will mention things like “unseen” and “perfection”. The maximum amount of Festival Tokens you can earn from one round of this repeatable quest is 30.
Braun’s Folly
Braun’s Folly as a repeatable quest. In this mini-game of drinking you have to drink faster and with as few hiccups as possible to outdrink Braun.
Braun is in the middle of Festival Grounds. Talk to him to start the quest. The reward for beating Braun at this game is 15 Festival Tokens.
You have to drink three horns of ale. At first, you start slow. and with each sip it gets faster. From time to time, you will lean towards left or right. Press quickly the button that appears on your screen to prevent Eivor from choking on the ale.
Yule Brawl
The Yule Brawl is a typical fist-fight contest in a ring. To start it, talk to Sunniva. She is right next to the entrance to the fight ring in the middle of the Festival Grounds.
To win the maximum amount of 100 Festival Tokens in this repeatable quest, you will need to best six opponents. The NPCs you fight against use abilities you have seen on the game already, nothing new. Just dodge, block and try to hit them from behind for more hitpoints whenever possible.
Eivor has to drink after each win, making their vision a bit worse each time, after each fight.
Every one of the opponents you will meet is stronger than the previous one and will take you longer to beat them. You can give up after each round and keep the Festival Tokens you have earned so far.
After you complete the two non-repeatable missions from this event – “The Case of the Missing Ale” and “Cow Catcher” – you will have the main characters from these missions becoming opponents for you in the Yule Brawl.
Bertham (Cow Catcher) will be you first opponent – he is quite weak. Ake (The Case of the Missing Ale) will take the third slot.
The total amount of rounds you can fight is still six, so they take places of other generic NPCs. The total amount of Festival Tokens you can earn is still 100.
The Case of the Missing Ale
This is one of the two non-repeatable missions during the event. If you have done it last year, you can still do it again, but just once while the event lasts. Speak to Alwin to start it. He is at the Brewery building in Ravensthorpe.
Alwin is, as he says it himself, “startingly drunk”. He will explain to you that you need to find Tekla’s assistant Ake. You will find him overlooking a small camp called Utbech from a cliff northwest from Utbech, in Grantebridgescire. The place is about a thousand meters from where you start the quest.
Ake refuses to go to the camp and you will have to beat some sense into him in a fist fight. He’s got no special talents, but can take a punch of two.
After the fight you will agree to help him while he waits at the boat. Go down to the camp he was staring at and find the secret brew.
The barrel you are looking for is inside the hut/building. You may try to sneak past the guards, but I personally would always clear the area first. It’s nice bonus XP if nothing else.
Pick up the barrel and bring it to the marked area, a few hundred of meters away, where Ake is waiting for you. A short cinematic will play and you will be done with this quest.
The reward for completing The Case of the missing Ale is a substantial amount of Festival Tokens – 160. Also – Ake will from now on be available as an opponent in the Yule Brawl fist-fight tournament minigame.
Cow Catcher
This is the second non-repeatable mission, part of the Yule Festival event. Talk to Winfrith to start it. She is next to the cettle farm in north-western Ravensthorpe.
When you arrive, the cinematic will reveal before you what has happened. Bertham, the son of Winfrith, has released the cows that were meant for the Feast and she asks you to take Bertham with you to hunt down the cows and bring the meat back to her.
With Bertham, head for the docks to the south. Take the boat with Bertham and sale to the other side of the river, where the quest marker is.
Jump off the boat and continue south. The first three of the cows are in the fields around the Elisdon Altar.
You can use your bird to locate the cows.
You will have to hunt down the cows. They are not going to fight back or run and they are also very weak NPCs. One shot or swing will be enough. Then pick up the meat.
The fourth cow will spawn after you find and hunt down the first three. Bertham will get to it first and after a short cinematic you will have your final objective – escort Bertham back to Winfrith.
The reward for completing this mission is 130 Festival Tokens. Bertham will now be available as an opponent in the Yule Brawl minigame.
What can you get at Festival Shop
Norvid is once again the vendor that will be willing to trade precious new (and old) cosmetics for your Festival Tokens. Norvid’s shop is in the south end of the Festival Grounds area.
