Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.5 now allows you to change your character’s appearance in-game, after the initial character creation is complete!
This guide is up-to-date for Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3
On February 15th 2022 CD Projekt Red released the biggest update to Cyberpunk 2077 yet. Patch 1.5 is available to all platforms and for Consoles it also brings the long-awaited and twice-delayed NextGen Update.
Patch 1.5 is completely free. With itself, it brings a few new DLCs as the New Apartments V can rent in Night City. This guide will focus your attention on the appearance change option that is new in this patch.
Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.5 is available now for all platforms. It is a free update to the game. The new DLCs are also part of this patch.
You should not have to download them separately. In case you are missing something, open up the “Additional Content” tab from the main menu in-game. You can access this at any time.
The “Change V’s Appearance” DLC should be marked as “Installed” like on the image below:
How to access the Change Appearance” Feature in-game
To be able to change V’s appearance and body features in Cyberpunk 2077 in-game, past the original Character Creation process, you need to have unlocked V’s apartment. This happens early in the main game. Simply complete the main quests until you are given your own apartment in Night City.
When in your apartment, stand in front of the mirror in the bathroom. By the way, this works with all bathroom mirrors in any of the apartments you rent later on.
Interact with the mirror to access the additional features.
Note that sometimes you may see Johnny Silverhand reflected in the mirror. This is not a bug. It’s a gameplay feature related to the story of the game. If you see Johnny, exit the mirror function and start again.
When you see your own reflection in the mirror, click on the “Change Appearance” option.
You can also change your appearance from every ripperdoc in the game. Once you choose the second option in the dialogue, you will be transported to the same menu as with the Mirror in the Apartment feature.
What you can change in V’s appearance
The Change Appearance feature in the game allows you to change nearly everything that you can change in the initial character creation process. Well, some things you can’t change. That’s on purpose.
Here is a quick overview of what you see on the screen and what you can do.
- Random Style
Clicking this button will give you a randomized visual appearance. You can click it as many times as you wish. - Changes Preview
This is the main area where you can preview the changes before you commit to them. - Filters List
This is the list of filters you can change to alter V’s appearance. Note, it’s quite long and some of the features are new from Patch 1.5. They now exist in the Character Creator. There are new colors and options available for some of the filters. - Rotate
You can rotate V’s body left and right to see how each flter alters their appearance on each side of the head and body. You can also zoom in and out. - Back and Confirm
The Back button cancels all changes you have made and exits the Change Appearance mode to return you to your previous V style before you started. After you have made the changes you want, press Confirm to complete the process.
