Elden Ring Larval Tear Locations Guide

Endonae by Endonae|

Larval Tears in Elden Ring are a consumable item used to respec your stats. You can only find a limited number of Larval Tears per playthrough. They are scattered all across the Lands Between.

This guide shows all Larval Tear locations in the Lands Between from the base game.

What is a Larval Tear in Elden Ring

Larval tears can be spent allowing you to reallocate your attribute points earned from spending runes to level up AKA respeccing. The ability to respec is gained after defeating Rennala, Full Moon Queen at the Academy of Raya Lucaria.

What are Larval Tears for in Elden Ring

How many Larval Tears are there in Elden Ring

There are 18 Larval Tears scattered across the Lands Between, allowing you to respec up to 18 times per playthrough.

This limit is considerably higher than it has been in past From Software games where it’s been as high as 5 per playthrough or sometimes not even being possible to respec at all.

Below you will find detailed descriptions to help you get to the location of every single one of the Larval Tear items in Elden Ring, ordered by territory.

Limgrave Larval Tear Location

This Larval Tear is located east of the Agheel Lake South Lost Grace. It drops off of a Runebear disguised as a weakling enemy. If you’re having trouble fighting Runebears, check out my guide on How to Fight Bears in Elden Ring.

The Runebear just pops out of one of the weakling enemies. I couldn’t get a clear look at exactly which one it was. Just start attacking each of the enemies until a Runebear appears.

Liurnia Larval Tear Locations

Grafted Lobster

This Larval Tear is located in lake Liurnia in between the Rose Church and Boilprawn Shack. In order to get the Larval Tear, you have to defeat a giant lobster that turns into one of the big flippy grafted enemies you fight in Stormveil Castle.

Village of the Albinaurics

This Larval Tear is just lying on the ground in a somewhat hidden village beneath the Moonlight Altar plateau in southwest Liurnia called the Village of the Albinaurics.

As you can see, the plateau is hollow. The top of the plateau is a late-game area. The village is beneath.

The entrance to the Village of the Albinaurics is located within the poison swamp that surrounds the plateau. The entrance is up a hill.

Resurrection Painting

This larval tear is part of the reward for finding the location where the Resurrection Painting was made. If you’re interested in finding all of the paintings in Elden Ring, check out my guide.

Caria Manor

You can purchase 1 Larval Tear for 3,000 Runes from a vendor named Pidia, Carian Servant, located at Caria Manor on the upper level of the room with the Manor Lower Level Lost Grace.

While there, you can explore the area fully using the Caria Manor Items Locations Guide if you want.

Pidia is not accessible from the lower level. In order to reach him, you’ll need to climb down a ladder on the roof. Make your way out into the open area at the end with the 3 towers.

There will be a blue dung beetle that shows you where to drop down, keep dropping down until you reach the ladder.

Caelid Larval Tear Location

This Larval Tear is located in southwest Caelid just a bit west of the Cathedral of Dragon Communion. It drops from a giant disguised as a weakling.

The weakling enemy is standing in the center, away from the stone caskets and other weaklings.

Underground Larval Tear Locations

About a third of all Larval Tears are located in the underground regions of the game, particularly Nokron and Nokstella, Eternal Cities, so I am listing them as their own region.

Siofra River

There is a hidden vendor in the lower Siofra River area near where you fight the Ancestor Spirit that sells 1 Larval Tear for 3,000 Runes.

In order to reach him, you have to climb up the wooden scaffolding near the giant crabs and when you’re at the top, there’s some scaffolding at the back that you can drop down to.

Just keep moving forward and you’ll end up at the vendor.

Nokron Location 1

This Larval Tear is located inside a building in southwest Nokron.

Nokron Location 2

This tear is located in a gazebo in southwest Nokron, right before you reach the Mimic Tear boss arena.

Nokron Location 3 (x2)

You receive 2 Larval Tears for defeating the Mimic Tear boss. If you need an advice on how to defeat bosses in Elden Ring, I have shared a lot of common tactics that you can apply and win every tough encounter!

Nokron Location 4

The 4th larval tear location is in a building in Night’s Sacred Ground (lower city area). It drops from defeating a giant metal ball. This room is also great for farming the Night Maiden’s armor set.

Nokstella Location 1

This larval tear drops from defeating a large metal ball that rolls down the stairs and across the bridge at you.

Nokstella Location 2

This larval tear is awarded after being trapped in the room and defeating the litany of the silver blob enemies that appear along with a large metal ball.

Nokstella Location 3

This larval tear drops from defeating yet another large metal ball near the end of Nokstella.

Atlus Plateau Larval Tear Locations

Central Atlus

At some unmarked ruins to the east of the Minor Erdtree in the Central Atlus Plateau region, there’s a weakling enemy that will transform into a large lion beast once defeated. The lion beast drops a larval tear.

Mt. Gelmir

This Larval Tear drops from a gigantic worm face guy that transforms from a regular burning corpse located on Mt. Gelmir just west of the defiled Minor Erdtree.

Mountaintops of the Giants Larval Tear Location

In the western region of the Mountaintops of the Giants (Haligtree side), there is a weakling enemy stuck in the snow in the middle of the Consecrated Snowfield. It will transform into a fearsome Runebear once defeated and that Runebear will drop a Larval Tear when you take it down.

Endonae is a passionate gamer who's particularly fond of challenging action RPGs and open world games with visceral combat. The closer it is to being a Soulslike, the better. Ranged casters, particularly of the energy or elemental variety, are his bread and butter. Lightsabers are pretty cool, too.
