The Bad Batch Season 2 arrives this Fall on Disney+. The new Star Wars Celebration trailer, gives us interesting clues about what to expect!

What and who is The Bad Batch

What is The Bad Batch? you may ask. Well, The Bad Batch is an animated series released in 2021. We first met these unique soldiers in Season Seven of The Clone Wars.

The Bad Batch aka Clone Force 99 is formed by “defective” clones with mutations that make them perfect for missions that require an unusual approach. These mutations grant them unique abilities, making them superior to regular clones.

Clone Force 99 is probably the only group to have a one hundred percent success rate while fighting in the war against the CIS, as you would expect, this earned them an extraordinary reputation. After Order 66, they separated themselves from the Clone Army, refusing to kill their Jedi allies or anyone who helped them. Well, most of them…

Clone Force 99 members are:

Hunter: The squad leader, he can sense electromagnetic fields and has abnormally sharp senses that allow him to track almost anyone in all types of environments.

Tech: The genius of the team, an expert slicer that prefers using his brain to beat the enemies instead of a blaster.

Wrecker: The strongest member of Clone Force 99, he has a weird sense of humor and is very loyal to his squadmates.

Crosshair: A soldier with exceptional vision, his sniping skills are unmatched. He has little regard for anyone other than his squadmates. Crosshair abandoned Clone Force 99 to join the newly formed Galactic Empire.

Echo: An ARC trooper that was captured by the CIS, later rescued by Clone Force 99 and Captain Rex. He was turned into a cyborg, his new appearance and abilities made him join the Bad Batch.

Omega: She’s an unmodified but enhanced clone of Jango Fett. She escaped Kamino with Clone Force 99, it was until the final chapters of the season that she was considered an official member.

After defecting from the Empire, Clone Force 99 needed to make a way of living, so they started working for Cid, a Trandoshan female who used to be an informant for the Jedi. This would work for a while but Crosshair eventually lures them back to Kamino.

Long story short, Tipoca city, Kamino’s capital city and home of the clone troopers was bombed by the Empire. All members of Clone Force 99, including Crosshair, were able to escape, but the city was destroyed in its entirety. This is where Season One ends.

The Bad Batch Season 2 Trailer Highlights

A new and exciting trailer was released at Star Wars Celebration!

There are lots of interesting things that happened in this short trailer, these are some of the most memorable and important highlights.

New armor paint job

The black and red was something very distinctive of Clone Force 99. I think this new look symbolizes leaving their days as “just soldiers” behind. In the Grand Army of the Republic, they just followed orders but now they decide who to help and which battles to fight.

Clone Commandos

Clone Commandos are the absolute best the Republic had to offer. Sending a single team meant that the mission was unusually difficult. Here, we see eleven Clone Commandos with a group of civilians. I can’t imagine why the Empire would send such an elite force to deal with mere civilians.

Emperor Palpatine

I doubt he’s going to appear many times, but every time he shows up on an animated show, dark things end up happening. Also, what the hell is Omega doing in the senate chamber? Does this mean that The Bad Batch is heading to Coruscant?

Gungi is alive!

A Wookie padawan that trained with the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars. He fought side by side with Ahsoka against pirates and General Grievous’ forces. I’m very happy to see that Gungi also survived Order 66. My take is that he returned with his people to fight against the Galactic Empire.

Commander Cody

Even though it’s not that obvious in this trailer, it has been confirmed that Commander Cody is coming back for Season 2.

Watching him serve under Obi-Wan made him probably the most beloved Clone Commander, after Captain Rex. Will he join forces with Clone Force 99 or will he remain loyal to the Empire?

The Bad Batch is just as good as Clone Wars or Rebels, you should check it out if you’re not familiar with the show yet. Considering how Filoni and Favreau are shaping the Star Wars universe I would bet that these characters’ stories will not be isolated from the bigger picture.
