Hasbro has revealed some of the upcoming Vintage Collection and Black Series figures. As well as a brand new project that I think it’s going to be a hit or miss.
If you’re attending San Diego Comic-Con, you’ll be able to pre-order an exclusive Boba Fett figure!
The Mandalorian new Vintage Collection figures
The first two figures are from the Vintage Collection and more specifically, from the second season of The Mandalorian. I’m usually not very hyped about Vintage Collection figures but these are really cool.
Din Djarin’s armor is very detailed; the boots and belt look particularly good. What I think really adds value to it are the clothed cape and the flamethrower. What’s even better is that it includes a Dark Trooper that also looks very clean compared to other Vintage Collection figures.
Also from The Mandalorian Season 2, we’re getting Grand Moff Gideon and Grogu. Moff Gideon’s cape also looks very good, the Darksaber gives me the impression to be super flexible which isn’t surprising at all. His armor looks very good and the red details emphasize the Empire’s theme.
To complement Moff Gideon, a little Grogu with his handcuffs. It looks so cute I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw it the first time. There’s not much to say about him, the handcuffs are the only accessory. There are already many figures of Grogu available but if you’re his biggest fan, this one is certainly a must-have.
Release dates for Moff Gideon, Grogu, Din Djarin, and the Dark Trooper are yet to be revealed.
Star Wars Andor Black Series
The Andor series is less than two months away, and Hasbro has shown us the first figures of the series starring Diego Luna.
Andor is wearing an outfit that you’d expect from an undercover operative; a leather jacket with boots and pants that don’t stand out. The figure itself doesn’t strike me as anything special, in fact, I don’t think he looks anything like Diego Luna (Andor). They got his haircut right but that’s about it, it’s a bummer considering this is the first figure of the series that has been revealed.
B2EMO is the droid that we saw in the teaser trailer for the show. It looks pretty damaged, I don’t think it includes any accessories which should be expected considering it’s not R2-D2 or any sort of Battle Droid. Though, it still looks interesting and different from the other droid figures.
Boba Fett The Black Series figure
Last week, Sideshow revealed the Boba Fett Arena Suit figure. It is based on “War of the bounty hunters”, a comic series where Boba Fett is forced to paint his armor so he can participate in gladiatorial arena fights without revealing his true identity.
I thought it was just a matter of time before Hasbro would announce their Black Series version of the figure, but I wasn’t expecting it to be this soon. The Black Series Boba Fett (In Disguise) as they’ve called it includes Boba’s Z-6 jetpack, blaster, and the spear he uses in the comic. The package includes a scene of the comic, as well as a small description of the events that occur in the comic.
This figure is made from the Empire Strikes Back mold. I know that’s something that won’t excite many collectors, but the story takes place right after Boba Fett heads to deliver Solo to Jabba the Hutt, so it makes sense.
The Black Series Boba Fett (In Disguise) will be dropping exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con. If you’re attending, visit the Hasbro Pulse Desk at Hasbro’s Booth #3213 to get a one-time use code, which will be scanned in order to pre-order the figure.
Hasbro Star Wars Selfie Series
A brand new concept that is coming in Fall 2022 exclusively on the Hasbro Pulse mobile app.
“Hasbro Selfie Series will allow you to digitally reimagine yourself as a collector-grade 6-inch action figure in your likeness, donning fan favorite character costume designs from G.I. JOE, Ghostbusters, Power Rangers, and Marvel, as well as designs inspired by Star Wars heroes”
This is a very cool concept, but we’re yet to see how well they execute it. Here’s a preview of what we can expect the figures to look like, and I have to say that based only on these pictures I’m not sure I’d even consider it. However, I can’t deny that it could be an excellent present for someone you know that is a huge fan of any of the franchises included.
The Selfie Series will officially launch this fall for $60 USD. As far as we know, it’s going to be available only in the US. My guess is that they want to see how well received it is before committing to other countries.
Would you buy a figure of yourself? Do you think the price is fair?
