This guide will show you the steps you need to take to obtain the iconic yellow jacket in Cyberpunk 2077 that David Martinez wears in the Edgerunners TV Series!
This guide is up-to-date for Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.6 was released on September 6th 2022, a few days before the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners TV series premiere on Netflix.
To celebrate this, CD Projekt Red created connections between the game and the show. One of them is the iconic yellow jacket that the main protagonist of the series is wearing. You can have it in the game Cyberpunk 2077.
Want to find out how to do it? Let’s begin!
How to start the Over the Edge side job
To get David’s jacket in the game, you need to start and complete a side job (side quest). It’s called “Over the Edge” and begins in Arroyo, Santo Domingo. Go to this location:
Note that if the side job does not appear for you, you may be lower level or there might be another requirement. I am not aware of any specific requirements, but I only played it on my “completed the whole game” saves.
When you go to the location marked on the image above, you will find a Braindance package in the corner. Put it on and play it. The BD headset is at the top of the trashcan.
I love how V reacts to this random BD thrown in the trash – “Hmm, interesting” is all V says before he/she puts on the set.
This is a non-interactive braindance. All you have to do is watch the clip. It’s from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners TV series and ends dramatically. It’s action-packed, gory and very likely to pump your adrenaline to the top.
The way the clip ends is an obvious easter egg for the TV series. It’s unfortunate that the clip does not play properly on Ultrawide screens.
Find out more about the XBD and David Martinez
Braindances with cyberpsychos in the lead role are not something normal in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Your next task is to ask Muamar “El Capitan” Reyes about the name you saw in the end – David Martinez.
Why El Capitan? He’s the most well-known fixer in Santo Domingo and that’s where you found the strange XBD.
Send El Capitan a message on your phone asking him if the name David Martinez means something to him. He’ll respond almost immediately. If he doesn’t, close the phone screen and reopen it again.
Muamar will admit that David is a name he recognizes, of course. He promises to find out more about him and his involvement in the XBD you just watched.
You will get different message text prompts for your character based on your origin story. In my tests it doesn’t matter which option you pick to send to Muamar.
Skip time to move in-game with a day, while waiting for Muamar to get back to you. If you don’t get a reply from him via a message in one day, skip more time until it shows up. Or, you know, simply play the game and do other stuff (if you haven’t completed everything else that is…).
To skip time in the game, open the Inventory screen and click on the “SKIP TIME” button at the bottom. Then choose the number of hours you want to skip.
If the response still refuses to show in your phone, move around the city. It may be triggered after you move further away from the location where you picked up the XBD.
When you get a message, it will be from Falco. This is one of the crew members of David’s team. He will tell you that you have a lot in common with David, but also inform you that they are out of the biz and whatever happened or whatever you hear, is in the past.
This is a clear hint (if you haven’t seen the show yet) that the events in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners take place some time (but not too long) before V takes Night City by storm!
Once again, it doesn’t matter what option you choose to respond to Falco with when you send him a message back. Both lead to the same outcome.
In the end Falco will tell you that you have a small gift from them at Muamar.
Where to find David Martinez’s Yellow Jacket
At the end of the short chat session you have with Falco, you will be sent to El Capitan to pick up “something nice” that David’s crew left there for you. They know who V is and want to pay their respect to you with a gift. How nice.
Muamar “El Capitan” Reyes is at his usual spot, high up on the cliff nearby a bus stop in the south part of Rancho Coronado in Santo Domingo. The package that Martinez’s crew left for you is on the edge behind Muamar.
Overview of David’s Jacket from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
David’s yellow jacket is just that – an upper torso clothing slot. It does have some stats, but nothing out of this world.
Thankfully, you can now use the transmog system by opening your Wardrobe in Cyberpunk 2077 to change your outfits.
This is an essential element of your best David Martinez Build if you want to recreate the anme character in Cyberpunk 2077 and play as him.
Here are a few images of the jacket.
Yes, this is Nibbles! Did you know you can not only get the cat as a pet, but also feature Nibbles in Photo Mode?
This concludes my guide on where to find David’s Yellow Jacket in Cyberpunk 2077. You can check out more of the recent Cyberpunk 2077 guides, including a full overview of all changes from Update 1.6.
But there’s more! You can get Guts, the iconic power shotgun as well to complete the Edgerunners style you are obviously going for. Or just to collect yet another of the tons of Iconic Weapons in Cyberpunk 2077.
Guts belonged to Rebecca, one of David Martinez’s crew in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners TV Series. You can find more information on how and where to find the weapon in my guide detailing all new weapon locations in Cyberpunk 2077.
And if you are a fan of the Netflix TV Series, check out my gigantic guide to every location from Edgerunners in Cyberpunk 2077. This has been a great and very time-consuming project for me, but I had so much fun tracking locations and discovering secrets. I think you will enjoy it too if you are a fan of both the game and the show. You are reading a guide on how to get David’s yellow Jacket, so you obviously are a fan of both!
