Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update 1.6.1 brings 3 new Tombs of the Fallen, a new Rune Forge in Ravensthorpe and the return of the Oskoreia festival!
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla releases today, September 27th. It is a free update bringing new content to all players who own the base game. The patch varies in size and is going live for all supported platform at the same time – 12:00 UTC.
Here’s the size info for each platform:
- Xbox Series X/S: 11.9 GB
- Xbox One: 10.6 GB
- PlayStation 5: 1.6 GB
- PlayStation 4: 8.6 GB
- PC: 9.12 GB
New Tombs of the Fallen Content
One of my favorite free content additions to the game were the first Tombs of the Fallen. I’ve had a lot of fun exploring them. Although the puzzles were not very challenging, there’s a good amount of mystery and suspense inside the dungeons.
When you load up your game for the first time in 1.6.1, you will see a notification on the left-hand side of your screen telling you about the newly discovered tombs.
If you need some help solving the puzzles, the guides for all three new Tombs of the Fallen will be up later today after the update goes live.
This time you will get to swim under water, avoid molten lava obstacles and observe ancient Icu teachings while solving the puzzles in the tombs.
To be able to explore these Tombs of the Fallen, you need to have arrived in England in your story as that’s where they are scattered. The Tombs of the Fallen are part of the base game and you do not need to own the expansions to find and explore them.
Verica’s Tomb
You can find the entrance to Verica’s Tomb in Hamtunscire. Check out my complete guide and walkthrough to solving all puzzles in Verica’s Tomb in AC Valhalla.
Togodomnus’ Tomb
The entrance to Togodomnus’ Tomb is in the most southern part of England, in Suthsex. The tomb looks at the sea. I have a great in-depth guide to Togodomnus’ Tomb Puzzles, showing you how to pick up your rewards – bearded axe and another one of the Tomb Artifacts.
Eden Ring Station
Eden Ring Station is the final and most complex of all tombs. It is located directly under Manius’s Sanctum. To access it you need to collect all five Tomb Artifacts from the other Tombs of the Fallen.
As you can expect, I have an incredibly detailed guide to help you solve all puzzles in Eden Ring Station and get the ultimate prize – The Blazing Sword.
This is a rather long journey involving a million light beam projectiles that you have to point in the right direction.
New Ravensthorpe Building: Rune Forge
The Rune Forge is a brand new building you can construct in your settlement in England. The Rune Forge is available after you reach Level 4 with Ravensthorpe.
This new building is designed to allow you to further customize the gear your Eivor is wearing. You can swap the perks of your currently owned gear into new runes in exchange for silver.
The Rune Forge can only work with items from the base game. You cannot use it with items from the game’s expansions. You can sell Runes at the Rune Forge, of course.
This new building is also immediately available as of today, as long as you have updated your game to Patch 1.6.1.
I have a dedicated guide to the Rune Forge, explaining how to build it, how to engrave runes and which gear items are supported.
Oskoreia Festival returns
The Fall Festival of the Vikings Oskoreia is coming back. This season it will start on October 20 and will end on November 10.
With this announcement it means that Ubisoft will not release any other AC Valhalla updates until then, not counting any possible quick bug fixes, of course.
The Oskoreia festival promises new rewards and even new missions. But this could just be a generic advertisement on Ubisoft’s part.
As soon as the event goes live, I will have my Oskoreia Festival Event Guide updated to match any changes or new features available. This includes the rewards list and items you can purchase from the festival vendors for the Event Tokens.
Ubisoft Connect rewards
As Assassin’s Creed is celebratng its 15th annniversary, Ubisoft is adding new exlusive in-game items available to claim from the Ubisoft Connect tab.
To claim these rewards, load up your game and open the Ubisoft Connect overlay. To do that on PC, click SHIFT+F2. Then open the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla tab (the first one on top left) in the Games folder. Finally, open the two new rewards for the 15th anniversary of the game and claim them.
You can do that from the Ubisoft Connect client as well. Navigate to the Rewards Tab in the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla section.
The rewards include:
- AC15 Settlement Pack – to decorate Ravensthorpe
- AC15 Tatoo set – to show your appreciatoin and commitment to the franchise
AC Valhalla 1.6.1 Patch Notes
Ubisoft has released the list of bugfixes and game improvements part of the Update 1.6.1 release. There are a few interesting notes, but if you want to go deep, read through the full list below.
I’ll highlight a few here for you now.
In some cases when you defeat a member of the Order, you may not have received Order Medallions. This has been addressed in 1.6.1 and it should not happen any more. There’s no info on any retroaspective changes to that bug, but we’ll have to go and test it, it seems.
You can now buy back the unique runes from Siege of Paris expansion at Pierre’s shop. Before 1.6.1 you could only sell him these runes, but not purchase them back. It seems this was a bug, not a feature.
And my favorite – Eivor spawning drunk when you laod the game. This one has never happened to me. Not sure what caused this. But it’s nice to see that Ubisoft has taken care of it. I don’t like playing AC Valhalla drunk. What about you?
Here are the rest of the changes for the 1.6.1 update listing what else Ubisoft has addressed in this patch:
