It’s Halloween in the world of Aeternum, which means the Nightveil Hallow event has arrived! This guide breaks down everything you need to know to be able to participate in and complete this event!

It’s the spooky season, and with it comes a spooky event in the world of Aeternum. The Nightveil Hallow event tasks you with taking on Baalphazu and his Pumpkinites that are trying to spread an eternal Nightmare across Aeternum.

The 2022 Nightveil Hallow event runs from October 18th until November 1st. This means it will not be active on the Fresh Start Servers coming November 2nd, but that’s probably for the best, balance-wise.

Where to find Salvatore the Mad and how to start the Nightveil Hallow event

To start Nightveil Hallow in New World, you have to find and speak to Salvatore the Mad. This is not a requirement, but it is the most natural and convenient way to start the event.

Salvatore the Mad and his cauldron can be found in every settlement. He’s typically located in a pretty centralized area. As an example, he appears in the middle of Brightwood.

Upon speaking with him, he’ll tell you about the foe you need to face for this event, Baalphazu.

After this brief introduction, you’ll be tasked with taking down Baalphazu, who spawns in various locations across the Brightwood, Weaver’s Fen, Mourningdale, Ebonscale Reach, and Edengrove regions.

Baalphazu’s Rising Quest

Baalphazu’s Rising is a one-time event quest that unlocks all of the rewards to be purchased from the event Shop. All of the desirable shop items will only be available after this quest is complete, you can however fight Baalphazu without starting this quest.

This quest is simple and serves to introduce you to the way the event will give you rewards. It consists of three steps:

  1. Fight Baalphazu.
  2. Collect his Ichor.
  3. Turn in the Ichor at the Cauldron.

It’s worth noting that the Ichor is automatically collected and given at the end of the encounter. You will not need to manually harvest or collect it.

Completion of this quest will award you with a Nightveil Hallow Cache, which grants you five Nightveil Hallow Tokens, as well as an Uncommon rarity weapon pattern. This also comes with a bit of additional Azoth, Coin, and XP.

It will also grant you access to the Nightveil Sentinel section of the event shop, by maxing your event reputation immediately, as there are only the starting and upgraded tiers.

Baalphazu Boss Fight Tips and Attacks Explained

Like many events before it, Baalphazu is a Level 66 world boss encounter. To be able to collect your reward, you’ll have to take down him and his minions.

This will be a typically easy thing to do, as the event draws large groups of players, which are needed to defeat him.

In addition to melee swipes and combos, Baalphazu has two additional attacks, each with a voice line to indicate they’re about to happen.

Mass Pull

When Baalphazu says the line “You will suffer, maggot!” he’s initiating his mass pull attack. This attack will create an AoE indicated by green flames and all players in range will be pulled into the melee range of Baalphazu himself.

To avoid being pulled you’ll either need to be completely out of his range when he starts the attack, or dodge just before it goes off.

Ring of Flames

This attack will usually follow the use of the Mass Pull attack, but not always. It will be accompanied by the lines “Your stark terror sustains us!” or “The shadows will claim your soul!”, but will have already dealt its damage by the time he starts either line.

Baalphazu will deal damage in a donut-shaped AoE around him, dealing roughly 70% of your max Health as damage if you are caught in the donut.

To avoid this, you’ll either need to be closer or farther away from him. If you were previously pulled to him by the Mass Pull attack, stay near him or you will get hit by this attack. This attack can also be avoided with a well-timed dodge.

Minion Summon

Alongside Baalphazu himself, he has three minions he’ll spawn often. These consist of the following mobs:

  • Pumpklins
  • Gourdspewers
  • Calabashers

Pumpklins

The Pumpklins are no threat at all only being level 35, they are however quick and can still inflict the Pumpkin Plague debuff. Pumpkin Plague is a stacking Disease debuff that reduces healing by 2% per stack, up to a max of 50% at 25 stacks.

Once defeated, they leave their pumpkin heads behind. These heads can be picked up and thrown at Baalphazu himself to reduce his Stamina, which outside of direct attack will be the main way you lower his Stamina to leave him vulnerable.

Gourdspewer

Gourdspewers are Level 60 Gold Elites, making them more threatening. Gourdspewers are much more dangerous, having a few ranged attacks, as well as melee attacks.

Much like the Pumklins, their attacks will inflict the Pumpkin Plague debuff. They attack slower, so they will not stack it too fast, but have more range then the other mobs in the fight.

Calabashers

Calabasher are Level 66 Gold Elites and can very easily be a huge threat in the fight. These bulky melee enemies have more health than the Gourdspewers, and gain Fortify effects often.

These units will attempt to charge at you if you’re a long distance away, but will otherwise swipe at you with their large claws. Both attack variations will apply the Pumpkin Plague debuff.

Nightrveil Hallow Event Rewards

Upon defeating Baalphazu, you’ll receive Baalphazu’s Ichor. These are automatically rewarded upon Baalphazu’s defeat.

Baalpahzu’s Ichor can be brought to the Nightveil Cauldron near Salvatore to receive a Nightveil Cauldron Cache, the primary way you’ll earn Nightveil Tokens. Additionally, you’ll receive a single Nightveil Token.

Rewards for turning in a single Baalphazu’s Ichor

Nightveil Cauldron Caches will contain Nightveil Tokens in the amounts of 7, 10, or 13; an Uncommon Nightveil Weapon Pattern; and a Cauldron’s Coin pouch which cna be open for up to 200 Gold, depending on your player level.

Nightveil Token Shop Contents

The Nightveil Token Shop has two levels to it, Fledgling and Nightveil Sentinel. Fledging is always available, but Nightveil Sentinel requires you to complete the Baalphazu’s Uprising Quest.

Fledgling Nightveil Token Shop

The Fledgling version of the event shop only carries Uncommon rarity Nightveil Weapon Patterns.

Considering you’ll get these for opening the Nightveil Cauldron Caches as well, it’s best to only consider buying these if you want a specific one. Though I advise against buying them at all, as they are a fairly costly 3 Nightveil Tokens and there are much better ones that you can get in the upgraded tier.

Nightveil Sentinel Token Shop

This upgraded tier to the shop is where all the good rewards are, so make sure you complete the Baalphazu’s Uprising Quest to unlock this tier. This tier contains four different consemtics helmets, a House Pet, a special Emote, a cosmetic Upper Armor, and better Nightveil Weapon Patterns.

These are great rewards, especially with the Patterns including the recently release Greatsword. The patterns themselves guaranteed the crafted item is at Gear Score 600, which can allow you to craft a fairly strong weapon to start leveling a new weapon.

Each of these costs 9 Nightveil Tokens, which means you can earn one per takedown on average.

The Cosmetics are also quite nice looking and take just one or two Baalphazu takedowns each to obtain. In total to get all the cosmetics and pets, you’ll need to earn 61 Nightveil Tokens. This means just 8 takedowns at the maximum will get you the full set of one-time rewards.

The event went live together with the giant update 1.7 called “Brimstone Sands. If you are wondering how to start the quest and get to the new region, our guide is here to help!
