There are 19 different straight swords scattered throughout the Lands Between, this Elden Ring Straight Swords catalog will show you all of them, their stats and descriptions, and the exact location where you can find them!
The Guide is up-to-date for Patch 1.10
Straight Swords in Elden Ring are just the standard, normal-sized swords. They don’t weigh very much and feature average range, swing speed, and damage. They’re all-rounders and should work fine against most enemy types, but don’t expect them to be exceptional against much of anything.
If you want something that just works without you having to worry, Straight Swords are the way to go!

Straight Swords Full Catalog
Below you can find the complete list of all Straight Swords available in Elden Ring, with full item descriptions stats, the exact location where you can find them and how to get them. Click on an image to get to the section about the item.
Short Sword
The Short Sword is a basic starting weapon for the Astrologer class and, in exchange for 600 Runes, is purchasable from the merchant in northern Limgrave that’s near the bridge with the pumpkin helmet enemy. It costs 600 Runes, but can also drop from enemies that wield it.
Longsword
The Longsword is the starting weapon for the Vagabond class and is purchasable for 1000 Runes from the Twin Maiden Husks.
Broadsword
The Broadsword is the starting weapon for the Confessor class and can be purchased for 800 Runes from the merchant on the beach in southwest Limgrave near the cave where you have to go full Episode 2 Anakin Skywalker on the tribe of demi-humans to rescue Boc’s…erm…sewing kit…
This is also the merchant that sells the recipe for the Neutralizing Bolluses that cleanse poison effects.
Weathered Straight Sword
The Weathered Straight Sword can drop from defeating the white weakling enemies that look like Gatekeeper Gostoc found throughout the lands between. There are a bunch of them being tended to by the Perfumers at Lyndell, Royal Capital.
Lordsworn’s Straight Sword
The Lordsworn’s Straight Sword drops from defeating the enemies that wield it, mostly the normal soldier enemies that wear a surcoat depicting their allegiance, like the Godfrey, Cuckoo, Redmane, etc. Not all soldier enemies wield this weapon specifically, some use a greatsword version or spear instead.
If Goldilocks were to wield a generic straight sword, she’d probably pick this one as it features fairly average weight, range, and damage potential.
Noble’s Slender Sword
The Noble’s Slender Sword has a minuscule chance to drop from the Wandering Noble enemies that wield it. You can usually find a bunch of nobles near the troll-pulled caravans if you want to bother farming. I haven’t personally managed to get it to drop yet, but know it exists. It seems to be pretty unremarkable and generic besides having C Dexterity scaling and E Strength base scaling.
Cane Sword
The Cane Sword can be looted off a corpse in Lyndell, Royal Capital on the western rampart accessible by scaling the fallen dragon Gransax.
Warhawk’s Talon
The Warhawk’s Talon can drop from the Warhawk birds that primarily flock to Stormveil Castle.
Lazuli Glintstone Sword
The Lazuli Glintstone Sword drops from the students of the Lazuli Conspectus that wield them. Those of Lazuli wear lighter blue robes compared to what the other Conspectuses wear at the Academy of Raya Lucaria. These enemies can also be found at Sellia, Town of Sorcery in Caelid.
Carian Knight’s Sword
The Carian Knight’s Sword can be pillaged from a guarded caravan near the Four Belfries in western Liurnia. This sword deals half magic and half physical damage while featuring fairly low stat requirements, so it’s a great early-game weapon for Intelligence builds like Sorcerery until you can find stronger weapons or afford to invest the required stats into Strength and Dexterity
Crystal Sword
The Crystal Sword can be looted from a corpse in the Village of the Albinaurics in southwestern Liurnia. This one is pretty similar to the Carian Knight’s Sword, but the damage is weighted more towards physical than magic instead of being an even split, though neither weapon can be modified by Ashes of War.
Rotten Crystal Sword
The Rotten Crystal Sword can be looted from a chest in the room prior to the rotfall at Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree. It is identical to the Crystal Sword except it applies a small bit of Scarlet Rot buildup because it is itself infested.
Miquellan Knight’s Sword
The Miquellan Knight’s Sword can be found at the top of a bell tower at Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree. It is conceptually similar to the Crystal Swords, but partially scales with Faith and deals Holy damage instead.
Ornamental Straight Sword
The Ornamental Straight Sword drops from defeating the Grafted Scion mini-boss at the Chapel of Anticipation. Even if you were defeated the first time you fought it, you can warp back there by using a specific portal at the Four Belfries in eastern Liurnia.
Golden Epitaph
The Golden Epitaph can be looted off a corpse locked behind the Stonesword Key door at the beginning of the Auriza Hero’s Grave on the Altus Plateau near the eastern entrance to Lyndell, Royal Capital. It is the Faith/Holy analog of the Carian Knight’s Sword, featuring equal amounts of Holy and Physical damage and Faith scaling.
Sword of St. Trina
The Sword of St. Trina can be looted from a chest locked behind a Stonesword Key door in the Forsaken Ruins in western Caelid near the border with Limgrave. It scales slightly with Intelligence, but most of the damage dealt is Physical, not Magic. This sword is one of the few ways to apply the sleep ailment too.
You can learn more about St. Trina from our Stone Coffin Fissure Item Locations guide. St. Trina plays a major role in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
You can also get the Velvet Sword of St. Trina in the DLC, which is an upgraded version of the item from the base game in every aspect. You can loot the Velvet Sword of St. Trina from beneath a stone coffin near Miquella’s Cross.
Regalia of Eochaid
The Regalia of Eochaid can be looted from a gravestone that is up on a cliff on the eastern outskirts of Limgrave. The only way to reach the cliff is by traveling all the way through Gaol Cave, whose entrance is in Caelid.
Coded Sword
The Coded Sword is resting on the throne in the room where the Two Fingers would be in the physical location of the Roundtable Hold in Lyndell, Royal Capital. It is a unique weapon that weighs next to nothing and exclusively deals Holy damage while scaling purely with Faith. Since it’s made of light, it bypasses shields.
Sword of Night and Flame
The Sword of Night and Flame can be looted from a chest on the ground floor of Caria Manor. The door to the room of the chest is locked so you have to drop into the building from the roof, which is accessible from the second level of the Manor.
This Sword is one of the most unique weapons in the game because it scales with 4 stats and deals its damage with 3 different types. It’s a valuable part of the Necromancer build since it scales with Faith and Intelligence, if you want to learn more, check out my Necromancer Build Guide.
The main door to the chamber is locked, so you’ll need to drop down through the roof in order to gain access.
The drop-down point is on the catwalks, which is pretty equidistant from both the Manor Lower Level and Manor Upper Level Lost Graces, though the Manor Upper Level will require you to take an elevator down.
This sword is also included in the guide to all Legendary Weapons in Elden Ring! If you are an achievement hunter, you’d want to get them all.
Farming Tips
If you come across a sword wielded by an enemy and you want to have it too, you’ll have to take down that enemy over and over again until you get the item to drop. There are a few things you can do to make the process more efficient.
A big part of speeding up the process is increasing your Discovery stat, which governs the chance that enemies will drop something upon being defeated. Discovery can be increased directly, but it is also increased with your Arcane stat. 1 point of Arcane gives you 1 point of Discovery, so most of your benefits will come from things that boost Discovery directly.
