This guide details the Rancor Boss Fight at the end of the Sodden Grotto mine where you explore a Rumor about Missing Prospectors in Star Wars Jedi Survivor!

Where to find the Rancor on Koboh

The legendary Rancor creature from the Jedi Survival Gameplay Trailer is located at the bottom of an old mining complex on Koboh, called Sodden Grotto.

Head to the Rambler’s Reach Outpost in the Southern Reach and talk to the Prospector NPC (optional) to get the Rumor (side mission) to Find Missing Prospectors.

Here is the entrance of the mine (image below). You don’t have to talk to the Prospector NPC at the Outpost. You can simply go to the Sodden Grotto and explore.

If you need help navigating inside and collecting everything valuable, we have a detailed walkthrough and guide for the Find Missing Prospectors Rumor.

The Rancor you find at the end lives up to the legends told of its terrifying strength. He’ll use unblockable attacks frequently and even his blockable ones consume a ton of your stamina, forcing you to rely on dodging. The attacks themselves will often hit you for more than half of your total HP.

Koboh Rancor

Be liberal with your usage of stims; if you’re at less than half health, use one so you’ll be able to survive the next attack. Spend your Force on longer-range attacks like saber throws so you don’t spend more time than you need to in the boss’ range.

Most of his blockable attacks have a shorter range, so you can avoid them by dodging back or attempting to block them. He tends to use unlockables more when you’re further away and you’ll naturally end up at those distances as you dodge back from his swipes and smashes. There are the 2 unblockable attacks for the Rancor.

Earth Shockwave

The Rancor will raise its hands above its head and slam them into the ground, creating a shockwave that sends bits of rock and debris hurdling toward you in a narrow cone.

The shockwave travels quite far, so unless you’re already a good distance away from the boss, dodge to the side. The range of the shockwave is greater than that of your saber throws.

Grab

The Rancor will sometimes extend his left arm to telegraph that he’s about to dive and grab you.

It’s safest to dodge to the side unless you’re super far away, then you can dodge back. He plops onto the ground for a while after diving at you, so you can spend a bit longer laying into him while he dusts himself off and winds up another attack.

Keep an eye out when his health gets low to the target dot to get framed by a lighter circle. This indicates that the enemy can be finished off stylishly with your next regular attack.

After you defeat the Rancor, you can head back to the Rambler’s Reach Outpost in the Southern Reach and talk to the Prospector NPC.
