Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Dagan Gera Boss Guide (Forest Array Encounter)

As one of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s major story bosses, Dagan Gera can be a rough encounter going in blind. This guide breaks down the attacks of this boss and provides strategies to defeat him.

Where is Dagan Gera Located

For those that wish to prepare ahead in some way such as gaining additional skill points, we’re going to tell you where this boss is encountered. If you prefer to not know ahead of time, feel free to skip to the next section of the guide.

Dagan Gera is found deep within the Forest Array and resides within the Rehabilitation Wing. With access to a fair bit of Koboh, this leaves a lot of space for preparing for this fight.

To reach him, you have to go through the Forest Array Puzzle and we have a great guide to help you navigate all the way to the tower while also picking up the Collectibles in the area!

How to Prepare for the Encounter

With a Meditation Point just before the encounter, you’ll be able to backtrack and make use of various spots on Koboh to gain additional skill points. As per usual, we suggest investing any earned skill points into the Survival Tree first to boost your health and recovery to ensure an easier fight.

If you did manage to already, it’s definitely worth gathering up 10 Priorite Shards to make a useful purchase from Doma in her shop near Pyloon Saloon. Getting the Mysterious Keycode will allow you to get an extra Stim to use for this fight.

Even with maxed health and vastly improved stims, this fight can still prove to be rough until you get the timing down for dodging and parrying his attacks.

Dagan Gera’s Attacks and Strategies Explained

Dagan Gera actually has a very limited pool of moves for a boss. Though you’ll still need to be cautious as he can absolutely demolish your health pool with just a few hits. Compared to the previous boss, Ninth Sister, the wind-ups for many of his attacks are much faster as well, outside of unblockable attacks.

While Dagan Gera does technically have two phases, his move set doesn’t change much between phases.

Force Speed Strike

Dagan Gera uses the force to aid himself in quickly closing the distance and striking with his saber. To Parry, block shortly after he completes the dash toward you.

While being a faster attack movement-wise, it’s very telegraphed which makes it easier to learn the parry timing.

Dagan Gera will almost always use this at the start of the encounter unless you disrupt him with Force Pull and close the distance. This attack will also be commonly used if Cal stays out of melee range for too long, as Dagan Gera tends to be quite aggressive.

Four-Hit Melee Combo

This is Dagan Gera’s performs four quick melee strikes with this saber, alternating between overhead swings and lunges. To parry, block as the overheads are about to connect and as Dagan Gera begins to lunge forward.

This is the most common attack you will see out of Dagan Gera in melee range. Its quick nature can make it hard to parry the first couple of times, but afterward, it becomes an easy way to chip down his Block Meter.

Be wary though as he also has a variation of this combo that ends with an unblockable lunge end instead of a blockable or parryable one.

Melee Finisher Combo

This combo will look very similar to the previous combo, but is instead a mix alternating combination of side swings and overhead swings. Dagan will lead with a side swing first, then an overhead strike, then another side swing.

This is immediately followed by an unblockable upwards slash. This attack will knock you down if it hits and makes it harder for you to avoid the final hit of this combo.

Regardless if it connects he’ll perform a downward strike after that is also unblockable and has a bit of an AoE to it. Parry the first two hits, then be prepared to dodge the remaining two.

Whether you dodge the third hit, or recover from it to dodge the leaping strike, Dagan Gera will have a sizable window where you can get some hits in after this attack.

If you’re unable to avoid these hits, especially the final two, this will take off a large portion of your health. Avoid it at all costs and save your Stims!

Sweeping Slash

Dagan Gera winds up before performing a wide slash covering full circle around him. To Dodge this attack, dodge to the left through the swing.

This is Dagan Gera’s longest windup for his attacks, but the nature of the attack can make it exceptionally hard to dodge properly. Thankfully, with it being a fully horizontal attack, it’s also possible and often easier to jump over this attack with your Double Jump.

This is an attack that Dagan Gera will use fairly often in melee range, or when Cal is approaching and is just outside of melee range.

Saber Lunge

Dagan Gera performs a single unblockable lunge attack. To dodge, dodge to the right as Dagan thrusts his saber forward.

This is another highly telegraphed unblockable attack. Thankfully this one is much easier to dodge. This is the one attack where dodging toward Dagan’s weak side can punish you easily.

Dagan will occasionally use this following a parry on Cal instead of Force Push, though he prefers to use Force Push more often.

Saber Throw

Dagan throws his saber in a narrow forward arc, before pulling it back to him. To parry, block as the saber is about to reach you.

This is Dagan’s only other mid-range option outside of Force Speed Strike. It’s also a very slow and easy to parry attack compared to most of his attacks.

Dagan Gera will often use this attack following Force Push, or when Cal is not in range for Sweeping Slash for any other melee options.

Force Push

Dagan uses the Force to shove Cal away. This disrupts any attacks and actions when used.

Dagan will almost always use this after parrying one of Cal’s attacks. If he doesn’t he’ll often opt to use Saber Lunge instead.

He’ll often follow this with either Saber Throw to attack from a distance or occasionally Force Speed Strike to close the distance again.
