Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Koboh Observatory Walkthrough

Siow by Siow|

This guide will show you how to confront Dagan Gera at the Koboh Observatory. This can be an exceptionally hard level but you’ll be guided each step of the way.

How to Prepare for the Fight

Before you continue, I want to mention that things are going to get very rough especially if you’re on Jedi Master or Grandmaster difficulty. Before beginning, I highly recommend you increase your maximum health and stim count through upgrading them.

Check out our Health Essence Locations Guide and Stim Locations Guide to collect upgrades for your maximum health and stims. You should have most of the upgrades necessary to gather a large portion of these upgrades. At the very least you can get all the stim upgrades.

Notes

There are several collectibles and optional encounters available that you can pick up as you progress through the mission or return later to get them. We point out the most essential ones in thew walkthrough below.

How to get to the Koboh Observatory

To start heading towards the Koboh Observatory, head to the Foothill Falls past the Pyloon Saloon. Go up a zip line and look for a pool of water with a grate across it that you can hook onto. This will take you to the Mountain Ascent.

If you need a reference, this is where the Abandoned Shack is (a Relter glide away). Here you also find and recruit Skoova the fisherman.

Go past the green barrier and keep following the path until you reach the Fogged Expanse. When you make it to the Fogged Expanse, make a right and interact with the Fogged Expanse Meditation Point.

Going into the Fogged Expanse, you’ll run into Spikers and eventually a Mogu. Feel free to run past the Mogu if you don’t want to fight it and hook onto a panel you can wall run on. You’ll end up at this door when you reach the ledge. Be careful as there’s a Mogu right behind this door.

Force Pull the door open then grab onto some vines at the end of the path to continue climbing the mountain. Force Push the panel on your right so you can wall run across it. Do that then hook onto the spite to access the zipline.

Ahead you’ll find Imperials below you, while you can fight them you can also double jump then dash to the spire you can hook onto. From there, hook onto the shuttle then squeeze inside through the crack.

Go inside the shuttle and get to the cockpit where you’ll get BD-1’s Electro Dart Upgrade. Anytime you see one of these electrical devices, you can use this upgrade to activate them. Do this to activate the panels to wall run across and keep moving forward.

You’ll find yourself at the Fogged Expanse Meditation Point. Meditate there and rest if you need to then go left of it up the ledge and into the building.

Activate the electrical device in there and use the panel to wall run across the gap. This path will lead to the Marl Cavern where you’ll need to do even more wall running.

When you get to the other side, go outside and down the zip line. Keep following the path until you reach the Imperial Post 8L-055 Meditation Point. Brace yourself as this is where the fun begins.

Infiltrating Imperial Post 8L-055

Ahead of the Meditation Point are a group of Stormtroopers and some Security Droids. Seems simple enough but this area will have Imperials come in through waves. This is wave number one of many. Double jump then dash to the platform ahead and take out the first wave.

Infiltrating Imperial Post 8L-055

The second wave will have you fighting Shield Troopers, Stormtrooper Commanders, and Rocket Troopers. Focus on the Rocket Troopers first by pushing back rockets they fire, then take out the rest of the Imperials.

Wave three will have you fight two Flametroopers, a Heavy Assault Trooper, and a Security Droid. As the fight with wave three goes on, two Jet Troopers will appear.

Wave four will consist of four Scout Troopers, two Jet Troopers, and two DT Sentry Droids. The Darktroopers will come down on an elevator slowly so take this time to take out as many of the Scout and Jet Troopers as you can. Defeat the Darktroopers last and make your way up the elevator.

Make your way into the base and when you see the electrical device on a far away wall, activate it with the Electro Dart then wall run up the ledge. Now comes one of the hardest parts of the game…

Boss Battle: Rick the Door Technician

Rick The Door Technician is just a regular Scout Trooper and is defeated just as easily. I’m under the impression this is a reference to the Saturday Night Live skit where Kylo Ren is on Star Wars Undercover Boss under the alias “Matt the Radar Technician.

Rick the Door Technician

Or maybe this is just a pure Dev Troll example. We have compiled this and many others in our guide to the Jedi Survivor Easter Eggs, References, Secrets and Little-Known Facts

Reaching the Observatory

After defeating Rick the Door Technician, go up the elevator and go outside. Follow the path to reach the Summit Ridge Meditation Point and activate it. Go up the ledge ahead and you’ll see the floating observatory in the distance.

On the right is a machine that spawns balloons you can hook onto. Use Force Pull on the balloon and throw it into the air to the left to reach the next spire.

Walk to the edge of the long spire and to the right below you is another balloon spawner. Pull a balloon to you and put it in the air to your left to access the next set of balloons. You’ll reach a Relter that you need to glide down towards the balloons in the distance.

When you reach the first floating platform, go to the left and inside the building through a crack in the wall. Go inside of the crack to get inside the building.

To the left is a glass window with a panel you can Force Push off. Fire an Electro Dart into the electronic device to open an airlock outside. Go back outside, up the box and into the airlock.

Bring a balloon from inside to the outside and place it near the next platform across from the crack in the wall.

Alternatively, you can use BD’s Koboh Matter spray tool to remove the Koboh barrier from the door. Spraying the back of the white panel, will actually allow the Koboh Matter to catch on fire from the beam and burn the barrier. This may be a bug.

Get to the next platform and rest at the Observatory Understructure Meditation Point. Get to the next platform and defeat the Imperials and raiders there.

Use these panels for cover from the Droidekas as you fight.

When you reach the Observatory Platform, the elevator leading up will be inactive. Go to the right and up where the two droids are, defeat them, fire your Electrical Dart at the device then make your way to the platform with the spinning grates. Climb up to access to a higher level of the observatory.

To the right, there will be this spinning machine that you can hook onto with your ascension cable. Go counterclockwise to reach a grate that will lead you to the elevator for a shortcut.

After activating the shortcut, go back up the elevator and Force Lift the door where you’ll fight Urgost, Fist of Rayvis. He’s a stronger variant of the Bedlam Smasher, take your time to chip away at him, or if you’re skilled, parry his attacks.

After defeating Urgost, activate the electrical device on the right to open the door. Go through and jump up this box and activate this electrical device. This will bring an arm down that will spawn balloons you can use to cross the gap and reach Bode on the platform.

From the top of the platform where Bode is, shoot the electrical device to bring the arm back out so you can pull out a balloon and place it near the grate above. Aim high to ensure you can reach the grate.

Find the vent on the path to the left and Force Lift it to get access inside the observatory. Get past the wall running segment ahead to reach the Diagnostics Corridor Meditation Point. Rest here and prepare for a tough fight.

This next room features a spinning chamber you initially open with a terminal. You’ll be attacked by MagnaGuards when you open this chamber. Defeat them then activate the electrical device in the middle of the chamber. This will spin it around while changing the position of the opening. Every time you spin it around, more raiders will come out.

There is a Force Essence at the back of the room from where the Raiders spawn. You can check our Force Essence Locations Guide for more details on where and how to pick it up as well as all others in the game.

You’ll need to do this a total of three times before you can proceed. When you spin it three times, go to the wall right of where the Bedlam Smasher was to find a balloon. Bring it outside and throw it towards the grate ahead. Reach the grate, get past the wall running segment, and to the ledge.

Jump up to the right, make another right and you’ll fight with a bunch of B1 Battle Droids and some B2 Super Battle Droids. They may be weak but this many droids will quickly drain your stamina from blocking and reflecting. Take them out and hook onto the ledge to the right at the end of the path. Rest at the Observation Deck Meditation Point.

Boss Fight: Dagan Gera

Go inside the observation deck to start a cutscene and begin your third battle with Dagan Gera. This fight will have three phases but fortunately you have Bode to help you out during the fight. The first phase is very similar to the last fight on the Lucrehulk though he can now perform a jumping spin attack.

In the second phase there are four new Force Powers that Dagan can use. You’ll have to watch out for the following:

Dagan can create an area damage effect where he’ll put away his lightsaber to focus and charge the ability. When he does this, get back as fast as you can and he’ll release the energy as you can see by the orb around him. This is the effective area of the attack so get an idea how far back you need to go if he does this again.

Next he can release blade of Force energy towards you. These can be vertical, diagonal, or horizontal. Either way the best thing to do is dodge them to the side.

Last he can create these balls of Force that will be launched at you. These are super easy to dodge by simply stepping to the side as they come your way.

When Dagan uses his spinning jump attack, he’ll create a small area effect around him when he lands. Get back when he jumps to avoid this.

If you manage to get Dagan’s stamina bar depleted during this phase, Bode can get a couple shots in before his stamina recharges.

In the third phase, Dagan and Cal will fight on the roof. At the start of this phase, Dagan will create illusory copies of himself that will attack you. Try to hit them as one hit will take them down.

Dagan’s Force Powers from phase 2 are stronger in phase 3. His area ability is even larger and sends out a secondary shockwave on the floor. His Force Blades now come in sets of three, and he creates to waves of Force Orbs to fire at you. Dodge these abilities the same way you did in phase two.

If he uses his jump attack, he’ll also create a small area on the floor along with the area effect. The affected floor area will have an explosion shortly after he lands, so don’t try to charge him when he hits the ground.

Dagan will pull his hand back as he attempts to grab onto you, dodge to the side when he dashes to you. If he manages to grab you, he will choke you and slash at you, this will take out a good chunk of your health.

Dodge his Force abilities, parry his attacks, and take out his stamina bar to get hits on him until he is defeated. I won’t spoil what happens here, you’ll just have to watch the cutscene to figure out how things play out.
