This guide will show you what the Koboh Grinder in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is and how to use it to clear new paths. There are many secrets on the planet Koboh and this handy device will help unlock them!

Throughout your time on the planet Koboh, you’ll encounter the mysterious “Koboh Matter” in various locations. While not dangerous in its solid or crystallized state, it can be an inconvenient obstacle that impedes exploration. Fortunately, there’s something you can do about that!

Your ever-reliable droid companion, BD-1, can receive an upgrade to deal with this Koboh Matter. Between the Stim upgrades, macrobinoculars, slicing capabilities, and the ability to fire Electro Darts, there’s little to stop this droid from scanning the galaxy around him!

How and when to unlock the ability

To unlock BD-1’s Koboh Grinder ability, you’ll need to make some progress somewhat early on in the story. You’ll be able to get it after visiting Jedha for the first time.

An image will prompt you to study Tanalorr on Koboh or the Shattered Moon, choose Koboh. You’ll then reach the Stone Spires where you can find the Koboh Grinder upgrade for BD-1.

You won’t be able to miss the upgrade as the Koboh Grinder is required to make progress in the main story.

How to use the Koboh Grinder

The Koboh Grinder is used for exploration and puzzle-solving, it has no combat utility. When equipped with it, BD-1 will be able to shoot out a continuous stream of ground Koboh Matter at a target location where a trail of Koboh Matter will form. This will adhere to the floor, walls, or ceilings you point it at.

When you see the streams of purple energy coming off certain devices, you can link the Koboh Matter from the Koboh Grinder to it.

This will ignite it and allow you to burn away masses of Koboh Matter you find throughout Koboh. If you find this matter while exploring, there’s likely an energy beam device not too far off.

With this device available, you should be able to find secrets blocked off by walls of Koboh Matter. This can range from collectibles such as Datadiscs and hidden weapons.
