How to unlock the “Talent Academy” gig

“Talent Academy” is a side job in Cyberpunk 2077′ expansion Phantom Liberty. It can only be unlocked after completing the main quest “The Damned”!

This gig is located far South of Dogtown, Terra Cognita is the closest travel point if you’re not in the mood for a few-minute drive.

Once you’re close enough, Mr. Hands will contact you and give details about this gig. This place “trains” athletes who aspire to become the best at what they do, clients from all over the world contact this academy aspiring to find new talent But some of said clients haven’t been paying their taxes (you read that right), so Mr. Hands has instructed V to address this issue.

Mr. Hands’s contact will be near the main entrance, he’ll make a fake ID and give you some minor details about the person you are impersonating. Just enough to get past the lobby, the rest is up to you.

How to unlock the "Talent Academy" gig

Get Inside The Academy

After taking the elevator you’ll stumble upon this fancy lobby, and talk to one of the receptionists. One of them must verify your identity before getting to the main room, once she confirms that everything’s fine you’re told to get some drinks at the bar.

Talen Academy gig - Get Inside The Academy

The bar is located in this big showcase room, it turns out that the athletes this academy is training are only children. From a very young age, these kids are trained and their bodies are enhanced with lots of chrome. Johnny is no saint, but even he knows how messed up this is.

Showcase of the talent scene

Head to the bar and talk to the bartender. Ask for the drink of your preference, he’ll try to learn who you’re working for. Choose the option “None of your biz.”, after this dialogue an athlete will smash one of the big glass walls and the bartender will close the bar temporarily. This is when you have to sneak out to find the data Mr. Hands wants.

If you pick the first option the guy next to you will start asking some questions, but since this is a fake ID the best idea is to tell him to piss off. The same sequence where the athlete smashes the glass wall will occur after that.

Sneak To The Lower Levels

Head back to the entrance of the academy and go to the door with the “Personnel Only”. There’s a guard nearby, use the “Memory wipe” quickhack to distract him for a few seconds. This buys enough time for you to sneak past him without raising any alarms. From now on you’ll have to be extra careful.

Talen Academy gig - Sneak To The Lower Levels

Before opening the door that’s right in front of you, make sure to disable the camera. It’s not visible in the image below due to how dark this place is but trust me, it’s there.

There are two silhouettes in this room, one of them is a human guard while the other is a de-activated robot. There’s also a screen on the left, use it to distract the guard.

Once the guard is near the big screen, crouch and turn right before reaching the robot. There’s a metal curtain, open it and get inside, then close it and continue down the stairs. It’s only possible to move forward so don’t worry about getting lost.

You’ll reach what appears to be some sort of server room, turn off the camera in the hall, and prepare to eliminate both guards. It’s not easy to see the two guards since one is blocking the view.

The best way to take them down without triggering the alarms is with Her Majesty. Two well-placed headshots will do the trick, it’s important that you take them out within a fraction of a second to keep the stealth approach.

If for any reason you fail to do it in a discrete way, someone will start tracing your location, and every guard on this installation will be aware of your presence.

Ahead of you are some laboratories, there are four guards in this room. One of them is heavily armored and won’t go down as easily as the others but if your aim is good enough he will die before being able to spell “choom”. Use the corners to hide from the camera, enemies will not see you from a far distance.

After all guards in this area are down, continue to the Director’s Office. On your way there, the rooms of the children in this installation will be visible. Here you can see how they’re treated as lab rats. If alarms are triggered before reaching this part, the glass of these rooms will be completely blocked.

There’s one remaining guard on the floor, he’s sitting on a chair near a computer. Eliminate him to ensure that no one can alert security about your presence. Once he’s been dealt with head to Dr. Fiona’s office.

A small kid named Tommie will be there trying to steal something from the desk. Your presence will surprise him, talking to him is optional and won’t affect the outcome of this mission but by doing so you can understand more about this entire “operation” and the impact it has (or not) on the children’s lives.

Talen Academy gig - Talk to Tomme

Confront Dr. Fiona Vargas

Attempt to steal the data from the computer on the desk. This first try will fail and Dr. Fiona is going to enter the office in a matter of seconds.

Talen Academy gig - Confront Dr. Fiona Vargas

Little Tommie is worried about getting in trouble but little does he know, it’s Dr. Fiona who’s about to have a really bad time. Whatever dialogue option you choose, it will not put Tommie in danger.

After the kid is gone the Doctor will try to justify her work and even try to cut a deal with you. You can either listen to the offer or immediately refuse.

What if you refuse Fiona’s offer

Talen Academy gig - Dr. Fiona's Deal

Refusing the deal results in V. scaring her to the point that she gives full access to her computer. And if her work really disgusts you, using a bullet to make sure this place doesn’t continue its “operations” is the perfect way to end it. Her access card will let you take the elevator to the main entrance.

If you don’t accept her offer, a small group of security forces will be waiting right outside the main entrance. Two of them are stronger than the standard thug but nothing that a few well-placed shots won’t solve. Once they’ve been taken down, simply leave the place for the gig to conclude.

What if you accept Fiona’s offer

If you decide to listen to the offer she’ll take you to her office. Here she explains all her work and all the “benefits”. If her reasons are good enough for you then cutting a deal is a good idea.

The information leaked will be limited, the doctor’s business won’t be seriously affected and Mr. Hands will be happy with the result.

Gig Rewards and Moral Choices

Rewards obtained for completing the gig with either choice at the end, will be the exact same, this is more of a moral choice rather than a matter of eddies.

The mission’s main difference in how you approach it, is in the decision to go quietly using stealth or take out your gun(s) and leave the thinking for later.

It is the moral dilemma and how you deal with the pure disgust that will nest inside you while you are exploring the area of this gig and learn of what is happening.
