How to unlock “Shot by both sides”

“Shot by both sides” is a side job in Cyberpunk 2077′ expansion Phantom Liberty. It can only be unlocked after completing the main quests “The Damned” and “Get it Together”.

Mr. Hands will give you the instructions to go into the client’s apartment and get a specific data card. The client is Bree Whitney, a journalist who is running away from some corpos. Her apartment isn’t located in Dogtown but don’t worry, you’ll head back very soon.

How to unlock "Shot by both sides"

Get the data card

This is a safe place, no enemy will be waiting inside. You require a Body or Techincal Abily stat of 3 but at this point of the game no one should be struggling getting either one.

Get the data card

Once inside, you must look for a Bamboo plant. There are many plants in the apartment but the one you’re looking for is inside Bree’s room, next to the computer.

Get the data card

Interact with the plant, a drawer containing the card you’re looking for will open. Don’t forget to grab it. Once you have it, exit the apartment.

Right before exiting the apartment, someone will knock on the door. He claims to be Bree’s neighbor and asks about her whereabouts. She hasn’t been at home for some days and he’s worried about her. You can have a small conversation with him or not, this will not affect the outcome of this mission.

With the card in your possession, it’s time to go back to Dogtown. The location will be marked on your map, once there you must take the elevator to the lower level.

Return to Dogtown and find Bree

Return to Dogtown and find Bree

It’s fairly dark but nothing that scanning the area doesn’t solve. Almost immediately after coming down, you’ll see some footprints, there’s a ladder just a few feet away from them.

Return to Dogtown and find Bree

The next image is what you’ll see after using the ladder. Crouch and go to the other side, then use the ladder on that side.

There’s a wagon ahead of you, get close to it and then follow the train tracks until you see a big hole in the wall. Go inside and then climb all the way down.

There’s a small entrance. Due to the angle, it’s almost impossible to spot it before jumping down so don’t worry if the only thing you see are concrete stones.

Before you’re able to get to the other side Bree will show up and aim at you with her gun. Tell her who you are and give the card away. She’s extremely paranoid due to the Militech being involved in this case. The card will grant access to a Militech underground installation.

Break into Militech’s installation

While there are no security personnel, many of its defense systems are still active. Turrets, cameras, and mines are all over the place. This is nothing compared to other missions of Phantom Liberty you’ve already played but it’s still a good idea to keep your eyes open.

Break into Militech's installation

After clearing the area, Bree will open the last room. This is where you’ll find out what most of this is about. It turns out Militech was trying to breach the Blackwall and use a rogue AI for their less-than-benevolent purposes. What’s big about this is that Netwatch didn’t do a thing about it, leaving a corporation like Militech unpunished for doing such things is a huge scandal.

Ending choice: Kill Dante or let him shoot Bree

When the videos end up playing, the so-called “neighbor” is going to enter the room. He’s a Militech agent called Dante who has been tracking down Bree.

He reveals that Bree used to be a part of Militech and the only thing she wants to do is to sell this information for profit. She denies all of his convincing accusations but ultimately the decision of who lives or dies is yours.

Kill Dante or let him shoot Bree

Killing Dante will let you obtain the Tier 5 Iconic Power Revolver “Ol’ Reliable”. It might show up as a Tier 1 Iconic in the preview but once it’s in your inventory it will display its status correctly. By choosing this option, Mr. Hands will send a bonus of five thousand eddies. Making it a total of then thousand for completing the job.

Bree's Tier 5 Iconic Power Pistol "Riskit"

Bree’s Tier 5 Iconic Power Pistol “Riskit” is also a reward but you can get this one regardless of what you pick while “Ol Reliable” can only be obtained if you kill Dante. Allowing Dante to kill Bree only grants you five thousand eddies.

"Ol Reliable" can only be obtained if you kill Dante

The best choice in terms of rewards is killing Dante, there are very few missions where you can get two Tier 5 Iconic Weapons, but the thing is that he’s actually telling the truth!

Bree will sell the data to Netwatch and some of their agents will come for you. They’re not a big threat so that’s not a problem, the issue is if you’re fine knowing that Bree will betray you. But on the other hand…two iconic weapons!
