The surprising 2.1 update of Cyberpunk 2077 just got released, this guide will show and tell you everything about the changes to vehicle combat, traffic and new obtainable vehicles!
Changes to Vehicles and Traffic in 2.1
Update 2.0 of Cyberpunk 2077 introduced many changes, including vehicle combat for the first time since the game’s release. This was very fun and completely changed how it feels to drive a vehicle while being chased by a gang or the NCPD.
However, bike combat felt lackluster for those who built their characters around knife and axe-throwing. This is a unique playstyle that requires the right amount of points in different perk trees. If executed right this can be one of the most fun builds in the game but the players who opted for this playstyle got punished by not being able to throw weapons when riding a bike.
This has come to an end with the 2.1 update. Additionally, we’re now able to lean while riding bikes and change V.’s Center of Mass. Doing so changes how much traction the player has on both ends. Lean forward a little mid-corner to induce oversteer, lean a little back to induce understeer. In the air, lean forward/backward to do flips, steer to do spins!
Combine these new bike tricks with weapon-throwing and you can probably get a sequence so badass that it would be worthy to appear in a John Wick movie.
A previously closed-off highway has also been opened. Its roads span Westbrook, Santo Domingo, and Heywood. It might not sound like anything special but within my first ten minutes of playing the 2.1 update I stumbled upon a trauma team fighting the Tyger Claws, that’s not something you see every day!
Other changes include the option to mark vehicles as Favorite in the Call Vehicle menu, improved melee animations when driving bikes from a third-person perspective, and NPC vehicles swerving when shooting at them.
Repeatable Races
While Cyberpunk 2077 is far from being a vehicle-focused game there are still enough cars, bikes, and missions that require driving for those who love speed and shooting.
Being able to participate in races is definitely something fresh in the game and after three years we’re finally able to repeat these illegal car races.
To unlock them you must complete the side job “The Beast In Me”, once it’s completed you’ll be able to race endlessly.
Catalog of the New Vehicles available with 2.1
There are six new vehicles in 2.1, the first one is a one-of-a-kind Porsche 911 with custom Samurai art. This one is obtainable through a mission called “Shape of a Pony”, to learn more about it you can check our dedicated guide.
The remaining five vehicles are bikes, the only thing you have to do to get any of these bikes is pay a decent amount of eddies at any autofixer terminal. After the purchase has been confirmed, they will be available in your vehicle list.

To get all five bikes you would have to spend over three-hundred-thousand eddies. This is no small quantity but if you’re a completionist then there’s no option but to work some extra gigs to get enough money.
The autofixer discounts that you get after completing jobs for “El Capitan” can also be used for these bikes so make sure to do more of those jobs to get a reduced price.
There are lots of new things in 2.1, a new metro system, new cyberware, quality of life changes, and much more. To get more in-depth information regarding all the changes and new features you can check the 2.1 changes overview.
