This guide will show you what Messmer’s Armor, Spear of the Impaler, and Orb look like, what stats they provide, and how to get the items in Elden Ring’s expansion Shadow of the Erdtree!
Visual Overview
Messmer’s armor set in Elden Ring is available exclusively in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. It has all 4 pieces (helm, chest, gauntlets and greaves). The images below feature the Spear of the Impaler as well.
The lack of spindly appendages makes an surprisingly significant difference…
Item Description and Stats
Messmer’s armor set has a combined weight of 19.3 (excluding the weapon), putting it in the 5th heaviest weight class, shared by the all Knight armors, which is a tad unexpected for something so skimpy. Messmer’s Helm boosts the damage dealt of Messmer’s Flame Incantations and Fire Knight Skills (Ashes of War) by 3%.
Spear of the Impaler is rather unique. It’s most likely engraved with Smithscript, as its strong attack is throwable, and when you charge it, Messmer’s Flame will spring forth when it lands. The spear also has pretty high stat requirements and scales with Strength, Faith, and Dexterity.
The Unique Skill, Messmer’s Assault, is an attack sequence based on his moves during the boss fight.
Messmer’s Orb is another fireball Incantation. Its costs are effectively the same as the Flame of the Fell God and Giantsflame Take Thee Pyromancies. It does not benefit from the Giant’s Seal, as it’s Messmer’s Flame, not Giantsflame.
Where to find Messmer the Impaler
You can purchase all of Messmer’s drip from Finger Reader Enia at the Roundtable Hold after defeating him at the Shadow Keep.
It costs 45k Runes for the full armor set, and you’ll need to trade in the Remembrance of the Impaler for both The Spear of the Impaler or Messmer’s Orb.
