This guide will show you what the Death Knight armor set and Death Knight’s Twin Axes look like, and along with the Death Knight’s Longhaft Axe as well as the Knight’s Lightning Spear, what stats they provide, and how to get them in Elden Ring’s DLC Shadow of the Erdtree!
Visual Overview
The Death Knight armor set and Death Knight’s Twin Axes in Elden Ring are available exclusively in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The armor set has all 4 pieces (helm, chest, gauntlets and greaves).
The Twin Axes take up a single weapon slot but are dual wielded when two-handed and are featured in the previews. The Death Knight’s Longhaft Axe is a separate weapon.
Death Knight Armor Set, Twin Axes, and Longhaft Axe Descriptions and Stats
Death Knight Armor Set Item Info
The Death Knight armor set has a combined weight of 25.9 (not including the weapon) and shares the same weight class as all of the other NPC Knight armor sets.
Each piece also boosts the damage dealt by Ancient Dragon Cult Incantations and Skills, which is all of the Lightning stuff, not Necromancy.

Death Knight’s Twin Axes Info
The Death Knight’s Twin Axes are part of the regular Axe class. They have a Unique Skill that’s a specialized version of Ash of War: Blinkbolt that allows you to follow it up with the Death Knight boss’ lightning axe spin.
The description is a bit misleading. Blinkbolt: Twinaxe is not a stance attack, so it won’t benefit from Rellana’s Cameo. It just adds a follow-up attack that use as soon as you blink by doing a strong attack. That said, you can control your movement while spinning.
Death Knight’s Longhaft Axe
The Death Knight’s Longhaft Axe is a separate weapon that is part of the Greataxe class. The Longhaft Axe has the same sort of Unique Skill as the Twin Axes called Blinkbolt: Long-hafted Axe.
Knight’s Lightning Spear
Knight’s Lightning Spear is an ancient dragon cult Incantation that fires the same Lightning Spear attack used by the Death Knight mini-bosses.
Where to find the Death Knight Armor Set, Axes, and Knight’s Lightning Spear
The Death Knight Armor Set, Death Knight’s Twin Axes, and Death Knight’s Longhaft Axe and Knight’s Lightning Spear are located in different Catacombs; respectively, the Darklight, Fog Rift, and Scorpion River Catacombs.
Death Knight Armor Set Location
You can loot the Death Knight armor set from the Darklight Catacombs, which is below Recluses’ Lake and east of the Village of Flies on Scadu Altus. Getting through the Darklight Catacombs is the only way to reach the Abyssal Woods housing one of the map fragments.
You can steal the clothes from an (already dead?) Death Knight on the second level of the Catacombs. There’s a tiny ledge you can drop down to at the top of the stairs that will take you to where you need to go.
Death Knight’s Twin Axes Location
You receive the Death Knight’s Twin Axes from a (living?) Death Knight that you fight as the mini-boss at the end of the Fog Rift Catacombs, west of Castle Ensis, on the Gravesite Plain. Sadly, we don’t get the cool spirit cape like the Death Knight we fight.
Knight’s Lightning Spear (Incantation)
You can find the Knight’s Lightning Spear Incantation guarded by a pair of lion-headed stone Imps at Scorpion River Catacombs.
Actually reaching the Scorpion River Catacombs is a literal nightmare! You got Spider Scorpions on one side of the river, and a bunch of Runebears on the other, and hovering over the river itself are FLYING SPIDER SCORPIONS. Thankfully, the Catacombs themselves have nothing to do with the terrors outside.
Death Knight’s Longhaft Axe Location
You take the Death Knight’s Longhaft Axe (along with the Cerulean Amber Medallion +3) after defeating the Death Knight mini-boss who wields it at the end of the Scorpion River Catacombs in the lower level of Rauh Ruins.
