There are three Paintings in Shadow of the Erdtree, we’ll explain where the paintings are, where they were painted, and what reward you get for finding each of them.
This guide is up-to-date for Elden Ring Update 1.14
You may have stumbled across a painting or two while carving a war path through the Shadow Realm. These paintings depict picturesque locations in the game and if you go to that exact location from where the painter was sitting while drawing the painting, you’ll be given a reward.
Shadow of the Erdtree has 3 paintings, adding to the 7 paintings available in the Lands Between, for a total of 10. Unlike the paintings in the base game, the depicted location is not necessarily in the same region as the painting itself.
Use the Table of Contents below to navigate to the part of the guide you currently need. The table includes the easel locations, the physical locations of each painting, where they were painted and the rewards you can earn.

You can access the Prospect Town ridge by heading southeast from Main Gate Cross.
“Incursion” Painting Physical Location
If you want to find the location depicted in “Incursion” on your own, here’s a slightly larger version:
The view depicted in the painting is located near the lake with the Ghostflame Dragon and Belurat Gaol on the Gravesite Plain.
“Incursion” Painting Reward
The reward for finding the “Incursion” painter’s ghost is the Serpent Crest Shield, which is a medium shield focused on countering Messmer.
It features 100% Guarded Physical Damage Negation and 63% Guarded Fire Damage Negation, though its less effective against the other non-Physical damage types.
“The Sacred Tower” Painting
You can find the “The Sacred Tower” painting (easel) in a little-“c” cave to the east of Scorched Ruins, just a little ways south of the Backhand Blade and Inquisitors.
“The Sacred Tower” Physical Location
If you want to find the location depicted in “The Sacred Tower” on your own, here’s a slightly larger version:
Once you’ve gained access to Enir-Ilim, head to the mesa with the Northern Nameless Mausoleum, accessible via Spiritspring in Rauh Base.
The ghost painter of “The Sacred Tower” only appears after you burn the Sealing Tree that blanketed Enir-Ilim in shadow, as that is the subject of the painting.
You must defeat Messmer the Impaler in his Dark Chamber atop the Shadow Keep to obtain Messmer’s Kindling. Then, trek through Rauh Ruins, and defeat the revolting abomination and black mark on Malenia’s legacy, Romina, Saint of the Bud, who guards the Sealing Tree.
Check out our Red Bear Armor Set and Equipment Guide for more information on how to reach the mesa with the Northern Nameless Mausoleum.
“The Sacred Tower” Painting Reward
You receive the Spiraltree Seal, which boosts the damage dealt by Spiral Incantations by 20% and primarily scales with Faith.
“Domain of Dragons” Painting
The painting called “Domain of Dragons” is located at Shadow Keep. You can find this painting (easel) in a room concealed by a moat-related waterfall in the Shadow Keep.
To get there, go to the wall near the elevator to Specimen Storage, the one with all of the Messmer Fire pit boats and Shadow Militia (AKA Jawas). There’s a ladder down to the moat near the waterfall in question. There’s also a lootable corpse right next to the ladder with some piece of junk you can stuff in your pockets too.
Also inside the room with the painting, there’s an illusion wall that takes you to a room with a coffin that will transport you to the Ruins of Unte, which is the only path to the Abyssal Forest.
This secret path is unrelated to the paintings themselves.
“Domain of Dragons” Physical Location
If you want to find the location depicted in “Domain of Dragons” on your own, here’s a slightly larger version:
The physical location of “Domain of Dragons” is up on Jagged Peak as you’re making your way from the Mountainside to the Summit Sites of Grace. It’s on a lower elevation than the main path along the dragon corpses.
You won’t see the landscape in the painting, but the storm will literally stop all of a sudden as you get close and the clouds will clear up.
“Domain of Dragons” Painting Reward
Your reward for finding the painter where they made the painting is the Rock Heart, which is the reusable item transforms you into a dragon.
