Bonny Village is home to the Greater Potentates, the people who butcher their brethren into Living Jars, supposedly making them saints. You’ll need to pass through it to reach the Cathedral of Manus Metyr, but it’s worth exploring because it has a fair bit of nice loot.
The Greater Potentates refrigerate their Living Jars underground in the Bonny Gaol, located on the outskirts of the Village. Inside, you’ll find the Armor (and Shield) of Night, which make you look like Sauron!

Bonny Village Unique Items
Bonny Village is located on Scadu Altus. The only way to reach it is by dropping down to the bottom of Moorth Ruins, east of the Highroad Cross, and climbing back up through a dried up well.
In Bonny Village, you’ll find a couple of Hefty Cracked Pots, some grotesque weapons, a Revered Spirit Ash, and the O Mother emote. As the author has fled their birthplace, there aren’t any Greater Potentate Cookbooks to be found within Bonny Village.
O Mother Emote
You can get the O Mother emote on the outskirts of town. You’ll need to use it later on to gain access to the Finger Ruins of Dheo through the Church District at Shadow Keep.
Bonny Village Hefty Cracked Pot 1
There’s a Hefty Cracked Pot on a corpse on the west side of bonny village by a bunch of Dead Jars and Shadow Men.
Bonny Village Hefty Cracked Pot 2
You can find a second Hefty Cracked Pot at Bonny Village on the east side in the frame of a shack.
Bonny Village Revered Spirit Ash
There’s a Revered Spirit Ash at the end of the dried up riverbed in Bonny Village. Look out for Shadoggos!
Bonny Butchering Knife
The Bonny Butchering Knife is a unique version of the regular Butchering Knife that has a Unique Skill which recovers HP.
You can loot the Bonny Butchering Knife from a corpse in a shack in front of the broken bridge on the west side.
Tooth Whip
The Tooth Whip is a whip that applies deadly poison and has a Unique Skill that reduces Stamina Regeneration by 8/s for 30s. It’s pretty substantial, it effectively has the inverse effect of the regular Green Turtle Talisman.
You can loot the Tooth Whip from the Whipping Hut on the outskirts of town on the way to the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. There’s a Site of Grace nearby, I recommend unlocking it before heading back to Bonny Gaol.
Bonny Gaol Unique Items
Bonny Gaol is located on the southern “island” of Bonny Village. Be prepared to annihilate 3 Spider-Scorpions guarding the entrance to the Gaol.
Inside, you’ll find the Armor of Night and Shield of Night, along with the Stalwart Horn Charm +2, a Hefty Cracked Pot, some Lost Ashes of War, and the Curseblade Meera Spirit Ashes.
Armor and Shield of Night
The Armor of Night is worn by the Swordhands of Night, Jolán and Anna. You can obtain both the Armor of Night and the Shield of Night from Bonny Gaol.
You can loot the Swordhand of Night armor set and Shield of Night from tortured corpses at Bonny Gaol in Bonny Village on Scadu Altus. You’ll need to use the jar elevator after defeating the Shadow Man wallowing on the elevator button.
Bonny Gaol Hefty Cracked Pot
You can loot a Hefty Cracked Pot from a corpse in Bonny Gaol.
The area is hidden, you’ll need to drop down using a couple of hanging jars.
Stalwart Horn Charm +2 Talisman
Stalwart Horn Charm +2 boosts your Robustness (Blood, Frost Resistance) by 180.
You can loot the Stalwart Horn Charm +2 from the room with the hole in the wall, reachable only by traversing the tunnels below and climbing up the ladder.
Lost Ashes of War
You can loot some Lost Ashes of War, allowing you to duplicate an Ash of War in your possession, from a corpse at the bottom of the cesspit with all of the Living Jars.
Curseblade Meera Spirit Ash
Curseblade Meera is a Spirit Ash that allows you to summon one of the most challenging enemies introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree. However, some of its attacks are only effective against normal-sized humanoid enemies like yourself. Curseblade Meera costs 91 FP to summon.
You receive the Curseblade Meera Spirit Ash for defeating the mini-boss at Bonny Gaol, a special Curseblade that employs darkness to obfuscate its acrobatic violence.
