The Black Knight armor set in Elden Ring is available exclusively in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. It has all 4 pieces (helm, chest, gauntlets and greaves). Also pictured are the Black Steel Greathammer and Greatshield.
Unfortunately, you can’t alter the Black Knight Armor to remove the tattered skirt.
Black Knight Armor Set and Weapons Descriptions, Stats, and Locations
The Black Knight armor set is worn by the elite knights in Messmer’s army. Some of them use Black Steel Greathammers and Greatshields. Others use a Black Steel Twinblade, particularly one with Ash of War: Aspects of the Crucible: Wings.
Black Knight Armor Set Stats, Descriptions, and Location
The Black Knight armor set has a combined weight of 32.7 (armaments excluded) and is part of the 4th heaviest weight class alongside all of the other Knight armor sets.
Individual pieces of the Black Knight armor set have a chance to drop from any Black Knight, while each of the Black Knight armaments drop from a specific Black Knight out in the world.
One of the best locations to farm Black Knight armor is at the war camp in front of the Shadow Keep on Scadu Altus. The Black Knights are mostly guarding the front of the camp.
Black Steel Greathammer
The Black Steel Greathammer has a unique Guard Counter that causes shattered gold, the same kind Marika’s Hammer, to appear on the ground in the path of the Greathammer’s swing. This Guard Counter scales with Faith, so you should change its Weapon Affinity to Sacred.
You receive the Black Steel Greathammer for defeating the Black Knight at the Church of Consolation on the Gravesite Plain. Follow the main road southwest from the Scorched Ruins, it’ll take you there directly.
Black Steel Greatshield
The Black Steel Greatshield is one of the most demanding of the Knights’ Greatshields. The Haligtree Crest Greatshield is slightly better overall, though the Black Steel Greatshield boasts superior Holy damage negation.

Black Steel Twinblade
The Black Steel Twinblade benefits from its Weapon Affinity being modified to Sacred and synergizes with the Ash of War: Aspects of the Crucible: Wings.
You receive the Black Steel Twinblade for defeating a specific unnamed Black Knight who wields one located up the hill on the west side of the war camp in front of the Shadow Keep on Scadu Altus.
Ash of War: Aspects of the Crucible: Wings
The synergy between this Ash of War and the Black Steel Twinblade comes from the special spinning attack performed when using any Twinblade, and the fact that this Ash of War can grant the Sacred Affinity to its weapon.
You receive the Ash of War: Aspects of the Crucible: Wings for defeating Black Knight Eldredd, the mini-boss of the Fort of Reprimand on Scadu Altus.
