This guide will show you how to get a Slicing Kit to unlock Advanced Slicing in Star Wars Outlaws. The guide also shows you where to find the Code Breaker Chip, which allows you to use Jokers during slicing.
How to Unlock Advanced Slicing in Star Wars Outlaws
You’ll need to find The Slicer expert after completing the mission New Tricks. You need to find the “Underworld Rumors” intel in Makal’s Gambling Parlor.
In the back of the bar, you’ll find a Pyke and Crimson Dawn member talking. Listen in on them using the nearby prompt and you’ll unlock the “Aila’s Contact” Expert Intel.
Head to the Crimson Dawn district in Mirogana. If you’re not on good terms with the Crimson Dawn, you can use the previously linked above guide for instructions on reaching the restricted area using stealth.
You’ll find Alia’s Contact in the middle of the landing pad in the Crimson Dawn’s restricted area. Talk to him and you’ll learn that you have to bring Alia an Imperial Code Sequencer.
Follow your marker to the Southern Falls and have Nix pickpocket an Imperial technician to get the code sequencer. Once you have it, travel to the Imperial Forward Base.
This is a restricted Imperial zone, so don’t get caught or worse, become wanted. If you start a manhunt, the stormtroopers will never end and then Death Troopers will start spawning.
Go right of the dirt road going towards the base and circle around the base counter-clockwise. You’re looking for a path full of the Apono Moths (they look like color-changing butterflies).
Go down the Apono Moth path and climb up the ledge, you’ll find one of the Jet’s Journals collectibles. This one is labeled “Galactic Empire”.
Keep following this path and climb some ledges and you’ll get a view of the Imperial Forward Base. There’s a branch you can use to grapple, use it to swing into the base.
Go down the south path into the covered hallway on the upper level. Take out the technician and stormtrooper quietly, this will save you some hassle later on.
Head back to the area you landed in here from, you’ll see a Stormtrooper Commander with a technician trying to break in a locked door.
Sneak down the stairs, go up the ladder, and have Nix attack the technician. The stormtrooper will face his way, making him vulnerable to a takedown. Take down the technician then lockpick the door.
Inside you’ll meet Alia and have a cutscene. She’ll have you go to the building’s roof to plant a device on the rooftop antennae. If you hadn’t taken down the first stormtrooper in the covered hall, they could potentially spot you from here.
All the defense turrets will start attacking the Imperials. Wait it out a bit for the turrets to dispatch any Imperials in the area, then run to your next objective.
Be mindful of an Imperial Scout with a sniper rifle on a raised walkway, you don’t want to draw their attention and get shot at.
Go inside the base and look for a grapple point above a large gap inside the building. Grapple across and go through the door on your left. Knock out the Imperial elevator and take down the elevator’s shields.
Go up the elevator and take down the Imperial officer and stormtrooper. Use the computer terminal on the right, slice it, and deactivate the turbolasers.
Get out the way you came in, exit the restricted area, and fast-travel to Makal’s Gambling Parlor in Mirogana. Talk to Alia’s contact and you’ll receive the Slicing Kit!
You’ll be able to have some practice with the Slicing Kit right outside Makal’s Gambling Parlor. It’s the building where you can find the Imperial Officer you can bribe.
Look down the short alleyway on the right side of the building and climb through the vent. You’ll get inside the speakeasy and have a chance to test out your Slicing Kit on a ray shield.
Where to find the Code Breaker Chip in Star Wars Outlaws
To unlock the use of Energy and Jokers while using your Slicing Kit, you’ll need to go to the south end of Toshara. You need to infiltrate the Shipjacker Workshop.
Since this area is full of raiders and no syndicate members, you can freely blast them without fear of repercussions. You do have to be mindful of their grenade launchers though, almost all of them use one.
Get on top of the central platform inside the workshop and look for a large yellow door. Go inside the room and you’ll find a thin ray shield. Using a nearby panel, slice into it to bring the shield down.
Loot the big chest inside the room and you’ll get the Code Breaker Chip. From here, you just need to find or purchase the Chalcopyrites and Direct-Energy Circuits to upgrade your slicing kit.

Sneak Shot
Shooting an enemy unaware of Kay’s position deals extra damage.
Requirements:
– 5x Blast down distracted enemies
– Complete an Infiltration Contract
Concussive Smoke
Upgrades the smoke bomb with a concussion effect that leaves enemies in the area Staggered for 2 seconds.
Requirements:
– Unlock the Smoke Bomb Ability
– Ion Capacitor Charge
– 10x Durasteel
– 4x Accu-Accelerator
Sneaky Trap
Allows Nix to trap Alarm Panels
Requirements:
– 7x Command Nix to perform different actions
– 3x Slice devices in 3 attempts or fewer
Lightfooted
Reduces the noise Kay makes while Walking and Sprinting, halving the enemy detection distance.
Requirements:
– Complete a smuggler contract
– Perform a Takedown on an Imperial Officer
– 3x Lockpick different locks
Slice Kit Upgrade
Increases the amount of Energy for the Slicing Kit by 2. Use Energy to activate Jokers during the slicing process.
Requirements:
– Code breaker Chip
– 8x Chalcopyrite
– 3x Direct-Energy Circuit
