How to make Nix Jealous in Star Wars Outlaws: Unlocking Feelers Out Ability

Vulkk by Vulkk|

This guide will show you how to make Nix jealous to complete one of the requirements for unlocking the Feelers Out ability from Rooster Trace, The Mercenary expert in Star Wars Outlaws.

After unlocking The Mercenary expert on Kijimi, one of the new abilities she can teach you is called Feelers Out. It doubles the distance at which Nix will be able to detect and highlight enemies via the Nix Sense mechanic.

So, how do you earn this ability for Nix? You must give him an incentive to strive to improve himself. By making him jealous.

Pet gushiros on Toshara

To make Nix jealous, find wildlife on any of the planets that you can interact with. Approach the animal and interact with it. Kay will usually pet the animal in a visually cute and adorable close-up scene. She also sometimes say a line that calms Nix down because he is jealous.

Gushiro in Star Wars Outlaws

The easiest opportunities and earliest you have access to are on Toshara. You can pet a gushiro. They are literally everywhere. A quick to reach location is literally outside Mirogana, at the end of the bridge leading into the city.

Gushiros are small and evasive mammals native to Toshara. They have long slender bodies covered in dense fur. They mostly move around shrublands hunting for insects or smaller rodents, but they can also be seen in settlements, eating garbage or leftovers.
Many cantina and restaurants have to have strict sanitation rules to ward off gushiros, as they are known to break into garbage containers.

You are not actually petting the gushiros. You feed them. After you do that a few times, you may notice that they start to follow you. They will do that for a little while. Until you or something else scares them off or you move too far away from their original location.

Check out the video below to see how Kay interacts with a gushiro and after she feeds them, they start following her.

Pet a Robuma on Toshara

On Toshara, you can also pet the giant cow-like animals called Robuma. I am sure you crashed your speeder once or twice in one of them on your first day piloting it around the flora and fauna of Toshara…

Robumas are mammal herbivores that were domesticated when the first refugees landed on Toshara. They are herd animals by instinct, and wild herds of robumbas can still be found roaming the savanna. Most Tosharan farmers will have them released in grazing territories as well, using speeders and droids to move them. Robumas are essential to Tosharan culture, with their milk, meat and leather commonly used in various ways.

Pet a Bantha on Tatooine

And if you are not scared of banthas, they are also seeking your attention. You can pet both banthas and dewbacks on Tatooine. Tatooine is a late planet, though. You can visit it as soon as you leave Toshara for the first time, but if you follow ND-5’s recommendation, you shoudl go to Kijimi first.

Banthas are large, hairy mammals with spiraling horns that are often used as domesticated herd animals. Banthas are omnivores and can sustain energy without food or water for long stretches of time. Many farmers use banthas for their milk, meat and leather.

It is on Kijimi whre you actually find and unlock The Mercenary expert. Completing her mission will grant you the ability “Can I Try That”.

Other requirements to unlock Feelers Out ability

Star Wars Outlaws Feelers Out

To unlock the Feelers Out ability, the reason you came to this guide, includes two more requirements:

  • Use Nix to fetch a weapon, a grenade or a bacta vial three times.
  • Complete a Thief Contract without being detected.

Contracts in Star Wars Outlaws are a great source of additinal loot and reputation gain. Completing successfully different types of contracts, is also a requirement for some abilities, such as the aforementioned Feelers Out, but also for the Sharpshooting and Loop Maneuver.

You will find the Contracts list at the bottom of the Quest menu screen. You will only start seeing this tab after you unlock Contracts and get your first contract.

You are limited to three active contracts per planet. You pick up new ones by interacting with terminals or talking to contract broker NPCs.

You can also manage your contracts from your ship or from terminals conveniently located in social hubs and cities. Usually near a cantina.
