Today Star Wars Outlaws received its first real post-launch update. It’s labeled 1.1.2 and introduces a lot of improvements and fixes for bugs, some potentially game-breaking.
Update 1.1.2 Highlights
The size of this patch is rather small. On PC and PlayStation 5 it’s around 1.9 GB, while on Xbox Series X|S consoles, it’s a bit larger at 2.3 GB.
Cross-Progression feature now available
The Cross-Progression feature has been made available for Star Wars Outlaws with this patch. It supports all platforms and utilizes the Ubisoft Connect platform.
To access your saved game on another platform, upload it first to the cloud while logged in with your Ubisoft Connect profile. To upload a save to the cloud, from the in-game save screen, hover over the file you would like to bring up to the cloud and select “Upload to Cloud”. The system only allows you to have a single save file uploaded to the cloud at a time.
In regard to in-game content, Ubisoft shared a list of what will be shared across all platforms if you have earned it already:
- Cosmetic items
- Credits
- Maps
- Vehicles
- Weapon charms
If you have purchased a Season Pass for Star Wars Outlaws, or plan to, you should know that it is platform specific.
Quest Fixes
This segment contains spoilers!
A lot of main and side quests have been updated and bugs fixed. Some of those may have prevented you from progressing with the game further, which would have undoubtfully have been frustrating.
The first main quest that properly teaches you about Syndicate areas and sneaking mechanics, is called Underworld. This one has received some special attention from the devs to make it more beginner-friendly. NPC numbers have been adjusted and environmental guidance markers now show and teach you how to infiltrate the area.
Other main and side quests also received fixes for big bugs that some of you may have encountered while playing through them: The Mechanic, The Wreck, Hyperspace, The Veteran and Partners to name a few.
The Veteran is likely the last expert you have (or will have) unlocked and its new abilities are quite fun to unlock, though if you unlock it late in the game, you may feel unincentivized to continue to unlock abilities and instead prefer to focus on the linear main story quests to see the ending of the game sooner.
You can unlock experts and abilities after you are done with the main story, of course. But it starts to feel more like farming (for trophies) rather than playing at this point.
“Old School Cool” Trophy Fix
The “Old School Cool” Trophy has been fixed and PlayStation 5 players can now aim to get the Platinum trophy by completing this previously bugged achievement.
Performance and Visual Improvements
We need more time to properly assess the actual effect of the “PC performance improvements and optimization across the game” that the developers included in the notes, as well as the potential HDR brightness values fix.
I may be experiencing a placebo effect here, but I have a feeling that Kay’s hair looks less blurry and more realistic after today’s patch.
The hair issue was somewhat tied to the Frame Generation, which I was using to bring the game to higher than 80 frames on the highest possible settings (except for Nvidia RTX Direct Lightning, which I still keep on High)
Last week’s Hotfix 1.1.1 did almost nothing except attempting to improve the bad VRAM situation on PC. This week’s patch 1.1.2 further improves the utilization of VRAM.
I have so far played only a couple of hours on 1.1.2. It’s too early to tell if the PC Performance has been improved. I didn’t have many issues to begin with. The FPS drops still occur for me from time to time.
This segment will be further updated as we get more game time with the new update in the next day or two.
