Star Wars Outlaws High Stakes Showdown: Strategies for Beating Each High Roller

Siow by Siow|

Kay must beat several High Roller Sabacc players across all available planets in Star Wars Outlaws. We will tell you how to complete the quest, where to find all of the Higo Rollers and our strategy for how to beat all of them!.

How to unlock High Stakes Showdown

After completing the story quest False Flag, Kay will get a call from Danka. Danka needs Kay to give a group of High Roller Sabacc players a challenge, starting the side quest Shadows of Deceit.

Shadows of Deceit can be completed in Makal’s Gambling Parlor by beating the High Rollers in the back room. Beat the high rollers to complete Shadows of Deceit, and you will unlock High Stakes Showdown.

Each of the four planets you’ll visit will have a High Roller that you’ll need to beat. Once you’re able to travel the galaxy after completing The Wreck and Hyperspace, you can track down these High Rollers.

Due to the random nature of Sabacc, there are no guaranteed always-winning strategies. Sometimes, you may end up with a bad hand and lose. You’ll need a mixture of luck, good shift tokens, and maybe a healthy dose of cheating to come out on top.

There will be minor spoilers from this point on in the guide.

Shift Tokens and Expert Abilities

There’s no rush to get this quest done as soon as possible. If you want to have the best odds of winning, you’ll need to collect all the shift tokens and unlock Expert abilities to help you get an edge in Sabacc.

There are 16 shift token variants with a few having multiple copies, resulting in a grand total of 25 shift tokens to find. We have listed each one of them in our Sabacc Shift Token Catalog – check it out to learn their location and what is the best use for each one of them.

Two great tokens to use are Free Draw and Direct Transaction.

Sabacc Shift Token Icon Free Draw

Free Draw can be used at the start of games to lower your risk of losing too many chips early on. These High Roller games are aggressive and they often use Tariff and Audit tokens.

Sabacc Shift Token Icon Direct Transaction

Direct Transaction is great if you can use Nix to peek at the opponent’s cards. Save this for the 3rd Turn in a Round if someone has a better hand than you to swap cards with them.

Next are the Expert abilities from the Hotfixer Expert and the High Roller Expert.

The Hotfixer can grant the ability Magnetic Dice. This unlocks a minigame that manipulates the dice to act in your favor if you land the line in the blue area. If you fail, you’re guaranteed to get bad numbers for yourself.

The High Roller expert can give you the ability Double Draw. This unlocks a cheating mini-game where you need to keep the Sabacc card in the blue area. If you succeed, you’ll draw two cards.

It’s tricky at first but once you get a feel for it, it’ll be a good way to get favorable cards. Use it sparingly as the blue area in the mini-game gets smaller each time you use it.

The Toshara High Roller: Bosnok

After completing the main quest False Flag, Danka will give Kay a call and bring up that Bosnok is now running a Sabacc table on Toshara. First, you’ll need to find a way to get inside Kaslo’s Parlor in Mirogana.

How to get into Kaslo’s Parlor

If you ask around, you’ll run into a Sullustan who can tell you where to find Kaslo’s Parlor if you pay him credits. Do not give him credits, he’ll just lead you to a locked door.

Instead, go downstairs and go through a door that leads outside. Grapple across the gap and go through the red door to reach Kaslo’s Parlor (which is subsequently renamed to Bosnok’s Parlor).

Strategy for beating Bosnok

You will not be able to use Nix against Bosnok as he’s keeping an eye on him, so you’ll need to rely on luck or, even better, make your own.

Your opponents will have the following shift tokens: General Tariff, Target Tariff, General Audit, and Major Fraud. Bosnok will have Embezzlement, Free Draw, and Extra Refund.

You can expect to get Tariffed heavily early on and Bosnok will embezzle and refund the chips he steals. Some good shift tokens for this game are Free Draw, Refund, Extra Refund, Target Tariff, and Prime Sabacc with Magnetic Dice.

If you’re using Free Draw Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Free Draws, save them until later on in the game when you’re down to 1 or 2 opponents. This way you can make draws without risking any remaining chips you have left.

Use Refund Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Refund or Extra Refund Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Extra Refund to counter the Tariffs and Audits used by the opponents. When it comes down to a 1 on 1, use Target Tariff Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Target Tariff to reduce the amount of remaining moves against your opponent.

If all goes well, you’ll win the pot of 600 credits and earn The Score Trinket for your speeder.

The Kijimi High Roller: Mehdo

The High Roller on Kijimi is a Melitto named Mehdo. They play in a rather unconventional style by using and sometimes combining rule-changing shift tokens.

How to unlock the Kijimi Parlor

The High Roller Parlor on Kijimi is located behind a locked door within the Domak Refectory Cantina. You will not be able to enter until you can find a Domak Refectory Pass.

To find the Domak Refectory Pass, you’ll need to start the Intel chain, Kijimi High-Rollers. To start this Intel chain, talk to a couple southeast of the Domak Refectory.

They’ll then tell you to talk to the bartender in the cantina. Talk to the human bartender and she’ll tell you about someone with a pass.

After talking to the bartender, you’ll find a man sitting in the snow near the spaceport in a rather pathetic manner. Buy his Domak Refectory Pass for 100 credits to enter Mehdo’s Parlor.

Strategy for beating Mehdo

The opposing players in Mehdo’s Parlor will have the following shift tokens: General Tariff, Target Tariff, and Embargo. Mehdo will have Prime Sabacc, Cook the Books, and Free Draw.

Here are some recommended shift tokens when playing against Mehdo: Direct Transaction, Exhaustion, Prime Sabacc, and Target Audit.

There’s a chance that Mehdo will use Prime Sabacc Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Prime Sabacc one round then Cook the Books Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Cook the Books another round. Use Exhaustion Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Exhaustion or Direct Transaction Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Direct Transaction on Mehdo if they use both Prime Sabacc and Cook the Books in the same round.

If you’re not sure what the current best Sabacc is, you can highlight all active tokens in a round. The button to display that will be displayed in the top right corner of the screen.

For PC, press R to see currently active effects in a Sabacc Round.

Mehdo will likely get cocky and stand as soon as they get a remotely good hand. If they stand, use Target Audit Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Target Audit if you have a potential winning hand. Once you win the game, you’ll get 600 credits and the Nightfall Finish for the Trailblazer.

The Tatooine High Roller: Sheriff Quint

Sheriff Quint from Wayfar is the High Roller of Tatooine. She doesn’t like using her chips if given the opportunity and is quite stubborn in a 1 on 1.

How to unlock the Wayfar Parlor

To unlock the Wayfar Parlor to play against Quint, you’ll need to complete the Tatooine main story quest The Heavy. From there, you’ll need to unlock Quint as the Gunslinger Expert.

After you fast travel anywhere or leave Tatooine, you’ll get a call from Quint and she invites you to play Sabacc. Quint’s Sabacc parlor is down the same road where her office is.

Strategy for beating Quint

Your opponents in Quint’s game will have the following shift tokens: General Tariff, Major Fraud, Exhaustion, and Free Draw. Quint will have Target Audit, Refund, and Target Tariff.

The following Sabacc chips should prove useful against Quint: Target Tariff, Target Audit, Major Fraud, Exhaustion, and Direct Transaction.

Subversive tactics such as Prime Sabacc with Magnetic Dice will not be as effective here. Quint is going to hang onto her chips and play defensively when it comes down to a 1 on 1. Focus on getting rid of the other two players before using your shift tokens.

Only use your Target Tariff Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Target Tariff or Target Audit Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Target Audit against her after she has already used her Refund Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Refund. When it comes down to a showdown between you two, she will rather hang onto Imposter cards and take chances with the dice instead of buying new cards.

Major Fraud Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Major Fraud will make her Imposter cards worthless. Exhaustion Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Exhaustion will force her to draw a new set of cards and spend more chips. If she has a better hand than you, Direct Transaction Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Direct Transaction is always useful.

If you have a better draw than the sheriff, you’ll win the pot of 600 credits and earn the Golden Maru Paint Job for your speeder.

The Akiva High Roller: Lando Calrissian

Lando Calrissian will be the High Roller on Akiva and you can expect a tough match from him. Fortunately for you, you’ll pick up some of his winning tricks by the time you play against him.

How to unlock Lando’s Parlor

To unlock Lando’s Parlor, you need to unlock him as the High Roller Expert. Once you complete this quest, win a game of Sabacc against Bosnok, Mehdo, or Mehdo.

ND-5 will call you after the game about how Lando challenged you to a game of Sabacc. You can then find Lando where you first met him, in Myrra on Akiva.

Strategy for beating Lando Calrissian

Your opponents in Lando’s Parlor will have the following shift tokens: General Tariff, Target Tariff, General Audit, Immunity, and Cook the Books.

Lando will have Refund and Direct Transaction. Despite numerous Sabacc games I played to figure out what it is, he never seems to use his third shift token. This can lead one to believe he’s holding back despite what he says.

You’ll want the following three shift tokens: Target Audit, Direct Transaction, and Prime Sabacc with Magnetic Dice.

To win Sabacc against Lando, you’ll need to play mind games with your opponents, be aggressive, and create your own luck.

The Twi’lek NPC likes to use Cook the Books Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Cook the Books early on, so it’ll likely be better to get higher number cards at the start. In the rare event he doesn’t use Cook the Books, you can make your cards the best ones with Prime Sabacc Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Prime Sabacc.

Be careful when using Direct Transaction Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Direct Transaction as Lando uses it too. Only use yours after Lando uses his, otherwise, he might steal the cards you just stole. Alternatively, swap cards with him if you have a losing hand with heavy taxes.

Never look confident and stand while Lando has his Direct Transaction Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Direct Transaction. If you stand in the first or second round, he’ll likely swap cards with you. Use this to your advantage by standing with a bad hand early in a round.

Only use Target Audit Icon - Sabacc Shift Token Collectible Target Audit on Lando if he used his refund and you have a winning hand. Just like every other High Roller, he’s stingy the moment he gets a good hand.

Cheating against Lando is encouraged as he’s probably Double Drawing as well, he did teach you that trick after all. Use Nix, Double Draw, and Magnetic Dice to create your own luck.

If you cheat in a Sabacc game with Lando and win, you’ll earn the No Such Thing As Luck achievement. You’ll also earn the 1,200 credit pot and the Iridescence Blaster Coating.

If you enjoy Sabacc and enjoy having credits, this is the best parlor to make some money. However, something tells me this won’t be the last we see of Lando in a game of Sabacc.
