What are Cosmetic Items
Cosmetic Items in Star Wars Outlaws are wearable or displayable items that provide no stats value and can’t improve your performance in combat. They are used purely as a fashion statement.
If you are a collector, a completionist, or an achievement hunter, you will likely want to obtain every single cosmetic for Kay, Nix, the speeder or ship in the game. There are over 170 cosmetic items in the base game with likely more to be added with future DLCs.
The vast majority of cosmetic items are available as loot either on the ground or in space. Some are given to you as a reputation reward. There are a few that you gain for completing quests. A small amount are promotional items for activities such as pre-ordering the game or using Unity points to purchase items from the Ubisoft store.
To equip a cosmetic item, open the specific page or tab from the game’s menu and slot that item into the designated cosmetic slot.
There are seven types of cosmetics – Blaster Coatings, Nix Accessories, Finishers and Fuel Colors for the Trailblazer, Paint Jobs anbd Trophies for the speeder, and Trinkets, which are a shared list for the speeder and ship.
Blaster Coatings
Blaster Coatings are items that allow you to change the appearance of Kay’s VM-19 Blaster Pistol. They alter the colors and some of the materials, like the grip, barrel, and spring.
You spend most of the game shooting enemy NPCs with your blaster. You can pick up weapons off the ground from time to time, but the blaster is your main and core weapon when it comes to ranged combat encounters.
To equip a Blaster Coating, open the Equipments tab in the main menu and click/tap on Blaster. On the bottom right you will find an icon for the Blaster Coating. You can choose any of the coatings you have collected.
You can get Blaster Coatings as loot from chests, quest rewards, or by increasing your reputation with each of the four syndicates. There are 17 Blaster Coatings you can use to customize Kay’s VM-19 Blaster Pistol in Star Wars Outlaws.

You can obtain Nix Accessories as loot from treasure chests, maxing out a syndicate’s reputation for the first time, as a promotional reward for the game, or purchasing them from a specific vendor by exchanging Nix Treasures. You can find the vendor at the market in Mirogana.

The second button that reads “Appearances” will allow you to change the Hull’s paint job, the second one alters the colol of the ship’s fuel and the third adds a trinket to a handlebar in the cockpit.
