The trailer for Season 2 of Andor is out. While brief, it gives us a good hint of what we can expect from it. Lots of action, intrigue, fan-favorite characters, and the highest stakes. Season 2 premieres on April 22, 2025.
Season 2 of Andor will release 3 episodes each week. The schedule looks like this:
April 22: Episodes 1, 2, 3
April 29: Episodes 4, 5, 6
May 6: Episodes 7, 8, 9
May 13: Episodes 10, 11, 12
Just like Season 1, every three episodes will be a different arc. With each one taking us one year further until we get to right before the events of Rogue One.
The first Season of Andor showed us Cassian’s transition from a lonely smuggler to someone capable of hurting the Empire and making a difference in the name of something bigger than him.
The trailer might be very short but it’s more than enough to realize that Cassian’s role will be key in the Rebel Alliance’s effort to undermine the Galactic Empire.
Bombings, civilian casualties, and betrayals are just some of the things I’m expecting to see. Obviously, because the trailer shows the first two and while it’s unclear who is responsible for it, we have to remember that the Cassian Andor we first met in Rogue One gives the appearance of a cold-hearted man who has done horrible things in the name of the Rebel Alliance.
There’s no doubt that we are going to see Cassian and other rebels do some very questionable things but he won’t be the only one.
Bix is back and it seems like she is helping him. It’s still too early to discuss how deep her involvement is with the Rebel Alliance but I’m glad to have her back in the show.
I am incredibly excited to see Ben Mendelsohn reprise his role as Director Krennic and his involvement as something more than just an Imperial high-ranking officer.
There’s a moment where he appears to be talking to Mon Mothma with some ISB officers in the back as well as Davo Sculdun.
Davo Sculdun is the father of Sketan Sculdun, the future husband of Leida, Mon’s daughter. The union between the two families was made with the idea that it could benefit Mothma’s “undisclosed” activities but if Sculdun is a friend of the Empire things could become a lot more complicated.
On the other hand, we have Saw Gerrera. A rebel with extremist views who doesn’t care about how many lives are lost as long as it benefits him and his war effort. Gerrera’s heart might be in the right place, but his radical approach makes him a danger to both allies and enemies.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him betray one of his own. Actually, there’s a scene that might be exactly that.
The ships in the back are used by Gerrera’s forces. Funnily enough, they have the same colors as the pirate ships that appear in Season 3 of The Mandalorian and Skeleton Crew.
The Rebel Base located at Yavin 4 is one of my favorite locations in the Original Trilogy. It’s so cool to see that it will appear in this second and final season of Andor.
With the series leading up to Rogue One, my guess is that the base will appear in the last three episodes of the series.
Brasso, K-2SO, Luthen Rael, Meshi, Syril Karn, and Dedra Meero all appear for a small moment in the trailer but I’m more curious about those who don’t. Vel Sartha and Cinta Kaz are two resourceful operatives who played a big role in the first season.
There’s no doubt in my mind that they’re committed to the cause so it’s strange that none of them showed up. I know that it’s hard to show a lot in a trailer that lasts a minute and a half but it’s just that I really want a hint of what they’re up to.
There is a mysterious hooded character who shoots an Imperial officer, it’s impossible to know who’s under the hood but there is a small chance that it’s Vel.
We know that despite the fancy appearance, Vel Sartha isn’t afraid of doing the dirty work.
Season 2 promises to be packed with action. Which would be in contrast to the slower pace of the first season. It looks like the Empire won’t be safe anywhere.
Though, they are likely to retaliate with the same aggression. Imperial installations, a harvest field, fancy reunions, and places where normal people do their daily routines. Everywhere is a possible battlefield.
Public figures like Mon Mothma and Luthen Rael will be fighting more than one battle at a time. As Imperial Senators, they have an appearance to maintain with the general public and particularly with the ISB which is constantly spying on them.
Watching them navigate the political world while funding the Rebel Alliance is going to be such a treat. Though I must confess that I’m really hoping to see the moment where Emperor Palpatine dissolves the Imperial Senate.
Even if that’s not shown, it’s going to be an incredible series and hopefully, a perfect way to tie the series with Rogue One.
