What are the Hidden Trails
Hidden Trails are linear traversal challenges in the open world where Naoe has to parkour a difficult terrain from the starting point to the end, where a treasure chest awaits.
Several of the Paths are part of The Assassins story arc for Naoe where she discovers the secrets of the Assassin’ Creed in Japan and her own family’s past and role in all of this.
The Hidden Trails are labeled on the map with red markers and their names start with “Path of …”. You can complete them at any point. There is no combat involved on these Paths (except at the Kii Assassin Outpost). The gear piece you receive in the end, will usually try to match the current level of your character.
There are several visual guides for you to follow to make sure you are staying on the proper path:
- Candles
- Flags
- Painted markings on the rocks
How to start the Path of Wisdom
The Path of Wisdom’s starting point is located in the east part of Mount Uchinakao sub-region of Wakasa. It sits in the middle between the Hikidan-jo Ruins and Sanjoga Take Overlook Viewpoints.

Head up the tree, walk to the top of its branches and then use your hook to get to the stone steps.
Follow the stone steps and cross the river and go on its right side. At the end, climb the rocks following the yellow painted markings. At the top, move to the right and pull yourself up.
Step on the wooden scaffolding and use your hook to jump on the wooden platform on top of the waterfall.
When you enter the dark alcove, climb to the top. At the top, turn left and hop onto the bent tree. Stand on the edge and use the hook to get yourself over to the other end of what seems to be remains of a wooden bridge.
Repeat the same exercise again from the edge of the wooden planks. This time you have to do a double-hook jump. Remember to push yourself out as you are approaching the highest point of the swing for maximum height in y our jump.
Continue on the path and jump over the next waterfall by hopping from the wooden planks onto the protruding branch and then to the other side.
After a short stroll, you will see the big treasure chest on the other side of a small water pond. Use the log to avoid having your fancy outfit wet.
Tamakichi’s Gear
Tamakichi’s Gear is an armor piece that looks exactly like Sumire’s Gear, which you loot from a treasure chest at the end of Path of the Blade in Omi. Tamakichi’s Gear combines well with Tamakichi’s Hood to create a full dark stylish Assassin outfit.
