How to start the quest
The “Soup for Sorin” is a quest from The League hub. It is marked as level 35, though there is no fighting in it. Previous quests from Junjiro’s story include “Eyes on the Future” and “A Different Kind of Samurai”.
Its level comes from the fact that it takes place in a high-level region. You unlock this quest much earlier and you can do it whenever you like.
Go to the southwest corner of Kii, a level 35 region. Junjiro is in Yuasa, which is located in the Sazae Oni Shores subregion. You will find him in the yard of a house along the main road.
Video Walkthrough
Junjiro will listen to you no matter what you tell him to put int othe soup, but only one answer is correct and will yield the desired outcome of a “meaningful” soup. In the video walkthrough, you can see all other answers and what they lead to.
The ingredients for the soup
Junjiro is trying to prepare “a soup with meaning”. He explains to you that he came to Kii to try shoyu, their famous fermented soy sauce. He already has mochi and daikon ready.
Junjiro reminds you that Master Sorin doesn’t eat anything with a heart. He wants you to pick up two things: the shoyu and something “that’s brown and comes from the sea”.
The Ornament Vendor in the northern part of the town will have the quest items you need. If you use Scouts, the marker may be placed on the east side of the street for some reason. The vendor is on the west side.
You can buy all quest items, but what you should actually get for this quest are only the Konbu and the Shoyu.
Tell Junjiro what to put in the soup
When you get back to Junjiro, he will ask you for advice what to put into the soup. The decision is yours, and it will not affect the XP or decoration reward you get in the end.
If you pick a wrong answer, your character will struggle to come up with a good reason why you are recommending it. The correct answer is Konbu.
Rewards
For completing the “Soup for Sorin” quest, you receive 1000 XP and a Hay Supply outdoor cosmetic item for the Hideout.
