The last portion of this guide contains spoilers from the main story of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. While we did our best to not reveal too much, there is no way we could describe how, when and where you can get this magnificent outfit without mentioning a few locations and key NPCs.
How Armor works in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Armor Sets in Assassin’s Creed Shadows consists of two pieces – an armor and a head piece. For Naoe, the armor pieces are light, for Yasuke – heavy. Naoe’s head piece is called Headgear and those are often various masks or hoods. Yasuke is wearing Helmets or Bands.
Each character has their own unique selection of gear and you cannot mix and match them between Naoe and Yasuke.
Each armor piece above common grade always comes with an engraving. The quality of items is defined by their level, which you can upgrade (costs resources) and rarity tier, which you cannot change.
The game makes an effort to match the gear you loot to your current level. The higher your level, the higher tier rarity items you will find. The top tier is Legendary.
You can use the built-in Transmog feature to alter the appearance of any gear piece and replace it or parts of it with something else you own. This allows you to keep using lower-level gear that you outgrow quickly but love its appearance.
We have a thorough guide on how gear works in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which you can read for more in-depth overview and explanation of everything else you need to know.
Master Assassin Outfit Visual Overview
The Master Assassin Outfit looks similar to the Apprentice Assassin and all of the dark Assassin outfits. It is, however, of Legendary tier rarity and is… red!
It is bright red and in style, is identical to the white and dark outfits. The decorative motifs here are dragons, though. The cloth stripes are bright red that matches the edges of the middle layer of Naoe’s attire.
The set combines elements of a traditional Japenese outfits with bits and pieces of Samurai-inspired armor pieces on her wrists and left shoulder.
Master Assassin Set Effects
The set consists of two pieces, an armor and a hood. Both are Legendary tier. The engravings are both useful for the assassin playstyle. The hood’s engraving increases the removed health segments on assassinations and the armor’s engraving helps Naoe heal up on every successful hit.

SPIOILER WARNING!
The following segment mentions segments of the game’s story that you may wish to witness and experience on your own.
The Master Assassin Hood and Gear are a reward for completing the main story of the game. This means that you have to finish The Shinbakufu story arc, which is the core element that binds everything in the game together, Naoe’s Journey, Yasuke’s Journey and Junjiro’s quest line.
After you complete up all of the main quests, you will have to go back to the Hideout where most of the allies are already gathered. Tomiko has an important message for you. There is a message for Naoe.
The final quest that wraps up all of the above-mentioned storylines, is called “Out of the Shadows”. It tasks you to return to Tomiko at the Hideout.
Tomiko will congratulate both Yasuke and Naoe and advise them to relax for a bit. After the cinematic, you have to talk to all of your friends and allies at the Hideout.
Finally, check out with Tomiko again. Someone sneaked into the Hideout’s yard and left a message and a gift. That gift is indeed the red Master Assassin Legendary Hood and Gear.
Depending on how you approached the story and quests in the game, there’s a high chance that you still have a lot of side content to progress through after you have wrapped up the main story. And there’s a whole expansion where you can admire your shiny new red Assassin Outfit.
Completing the Epilogue of the story will grant you the Epilogue Achievement. Find out how to unlock all 54 achievements in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
