How Armor works in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Armor Sets in Assassin’s Creed Shadows consists of two gear pieces – an armor and a head piece. For Naoe, the armor pieces are light, for Yasuke – heavy. Naoe’s head piece is called Headgear and those are often various masks or hoods. Yasuke is wearing Helmets or Bands.
Character-specific inventory
Each character has their own unique selection of gear and you cannot mix and match them between Naoe and Yasuke.
Rarity Tiers
Each armor piece above common grade always comes with an engraving. The quality of items is defined by their level, which you can upgrade (costs resources) and rarity tier, which you cannot change.
The game makes an effort to match the gear you loot to your current level. The higher your level, the higher tier rarity items you will find. The top tier is Legendary.
What are Legendary Sets
Legendary sets are special piece of gear available only from a specific location or source, not as a random drop. They always come with a unique Legendary Engraving. Legendary armor parts usually have higher stats than the lower tiers, if compared at the same level.
How to change an item’s appearance
You can use the built-in Transmog feature to alter the appearance of any gear piece and replace it or parts of it with something else you own. This allows you to keep using lower-level gear that you outgrow quickly but love its appearance.
We have a thorough guide on how gear works in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which you can read for more in-depth overview and explanation of everything else you need to know. We also have a complete catalog of all Legendary sets available in the game.
How to get Legendary Armor in AC Shadows
Out of 24 available in total, 10 sets for Naoe and 10 for Yasuke are available through standard discovery such as rewards from castles, rewards for completing quests or finding legendary chests in the open world.
Each character has a unique legendary armor set available through the Projects system. And, of course, both Naoe and Yasuke get a legendary gear set if you purchase the Deluxe edition or upgrade pack.
The Projects system is meant to keep you engaged in the long run with weekly quests. Its tracks offer various rewards, including bits of modern day updates as well as valuable resources like gold, and of course legendary gear.
There are a number of legendary sets and packs (including weapons) you can purchase from the in-game store, but they are not a part of this catalog. Here we will show you only the items you can get through gameplay.
Similar to how the store worked in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, here in the Exchange tab you will find legendary gear from the store available for purchase with in-game currency called Keys. You earn Keys from the Projects’ tracks by completing the Project weekly missions. You can also find small chunks of x30 in the open world as loot.
To progress through the Projects, complete any “purple quests” that appear under Rifts and Anomalies in the Animus circle on your objectives board. There are four weekly quests that reset on Thursday. They are your primary source for Data Fragments.
At the time of this publication, there are only two Projects available. Completing The Legacy will get you the Cerulean Guise Armor Set for Naoe. Completing the Awakening Project will get you the Cerulean Guise Armor Set for Yasuke. Both tracks offer a mix of weapons, gold chunks, Keys and Encrypted Data Files.
There will be other Projects unlocked with time. We may update this guide or publish new ones to let you know when and what becomes available.

Naoe’s gear usually consists of robes and outfits for her body and hoods, bandanas or masks for her head. From the base game, you can get a total of 11 legendary sets for her through gameplay. 10 sets are from exploration, and 1 is from the Legacy Project.
